Waylan cants his head slightly, wondering what Rella was truly going though. This felt like another person with a shell surrounded by a wall, something that wasn't easy to break.

[17:55] There's no interruption - or, really, any nonverbal response at all - to what Waylan says. Rella simply stares forward until he finishes speaking, as if she isn't listening to him.

Even after he finishes, it still takes her considerable time to process what he's said.

"I am meant to guide, not lead. To steer humanity away from their darkest habits, and only step forward at the most hopeless of times."

Was that... actually addressing what he said, or responding to something he can't hear?

"Am I... not doing enough, Waylan? Are things worse than I thought they were?"

[18:04] Waylan took a moment to process what she said, he barely understood though clearly something was bothering her. He couldn't wrap his head around it fully, but he needed to make an attempt.

A faint glow appeared on his body, warm, welcoming , he placed a hand on his necklace.

"Sae help me understand"

He took a deep breath, drawing in more of Sae's power into his body, mind, spirit. He smiled at Rella, perhaps he could understand?

"We are blind to what we don't want to see, right? Somethings it's easier to not see them at all and continue with your daily life.

Things continue to get worse, but we stand together to make a difference. We couldn't defend Nysea alone, but here with the Teraphim we can defeat the forces that wish to take our home."

Perhaps he didn't know, but offered soothing words, advice, and encouragement was his specialty.

"Remember, you guided me from that box which the witch held us, what if you hadn't? I wouldn't be here right now with the knowledge I've gained.

Even the smallest feats can produce the greatest results, and you've done all you can though you have to keep pushing forward.

[18:09] Once again, there wasn't much in the way of interruption - until Waylan dropped one of her very particular words.

"I'm not alone. I know I'm not alone. I just... simultaneously... am very aware that there's not many on Esshar who can truly empathize."

She folds her hands together, trying to occupy herself.

Maybe a silent reminder not to say too much.

"I'm sorry. Just a brief crisis of faith - of my place. I'll get through it. It'll resolve itself."

[18:15] Her last comment stuck with him again, she said that to him a while ago, but never made any indications as to what she meant. He couldn't allow that to slide without testing the waters this time, perhaps he'd get a suitable answer this time.
