  1. This addresses both PTA and PTU and can either replace breeding as a whole for a game or have bits and pieces used if certain aspects of it appeal to you.

  3. PTA: These mechanics recommend more breeding checks due to the increased potential of results and enforces heavier choices between mates. As such, I recommend giving non-Breeders 3 checks per day instead of the normal one. It's still less than half of the checks a Breeder has.

  5. PTU: These mechanics make it possible to breed without the Breeder feature but the feature still has very obvious benefits. The feature not only gives a bonus to the breeding roll this mechanic introduces but also guarantees a success regardless of the result. Since it opens it up to everyone, I'd personally restrict the maximum number of breeding attempts to 3 a day (or limited to AP usage with the feature). It could even be fewer attempts if you require players to actually spend the time with the Pokémon (how isn't exactly important here and is obviously very campaign specific) and thus, makes the maximum number of attempts 2 a day as the player would need to sleep at some point and there's only 24 hours in a day.

  7. Anyways, on to the mechanics!

  9. PTA: Give two compatible Pokémon 8 hours of uninterrupted time together. Roll a 1d100. If the roll is a result of 25 or less, an egg is produced. For each hour above 8, up to a max of 5, subtract 2 from your roll. If the result ends up negative, roll 1d4 and that is the number of eggs produced. If you get a result of 5 or less, there's a 50% chance the child will be the father's species.

  41. Egg moves may be passed from either parent (but not both). Either via the GM's choice, player or by random.

  44. Note (PTA): Any moves gained will solely occupy the Natural move list.

  46. Note (PTU): Any moves obtained from the above instead become a list called an Inheritence List. At level 10 and every 10 levels thereafter, the Child Pokémon can learn a Move from its Inheritance Move
  47. List, as if it was learning it via Level-Up.

  49. Natures: The mother has a 50% chance to pass their nature onto their offspring.

  51. Abilities: If the result was negative, there's a 50% chance that an ability will be passed onto the offspring. 25% of the time the father will pass their ability, otherwise the mother does. Randomly select an ability to be passed down (High abilities can be passed down but not Last Chance abilities. Abilities that require a capability to have such as Wonder Guard also cannot be passed down).

  53. Size: If the offspring is the result of a negative roll, roll 1d100. On a result of 1-25, the offspring will hatch one size category smaller. On a result of 26-75, the size remains the same. On a result of 76-100, the offspring will hatch one size category larger.

  55. If the parent that the offspring is the specie of and is of abnormal size, this will further change the size of the offspring. For example, a Gyarados that is Gigantic instead of Huge will increase the offspring's size by 1. If the Gyarados was Large instead, it would decrease the offspring's size by 1.

  57. If the Pokémon were hatched an abnormal size, they maintain the size changes as they evolve. For example: A Medium sized Pidgey would still grow even it evolves, becoming a Large sized Pidgeotto (normally Pidgey is small and grow medium as a Pidgeotto). This would continue when Pidgeotto evolves into Pidgeot and becomes Huge size.

  59. Types: These may only occur on negative results when an egg is produced.

  62. Pokémon's type change:

  64. 25% of the time, the father may pass one of his types (randomly determined, best done via 50%) to the offspring. This may replace the offsprings type if they're only 1 type or gain it as a secondary type. If they have two types it can replace either type.

  70. 25% of the time, the mother may pass one of her types (randomly determined, best done via 50%) to one of the offspring's moves (also randomly determined). The move becomes the type chosen as if it were Move Sync'd by a Type Ace of the same type.[/spoiler]

  74. Roll 1d100 (or 2d100 for games that like rarer shiny Pokémon)

  76. On a result of 1, the child will be shiny (or the result of 2 on a 2d100). If one of the parents are shiny a result of 10 or less the child will be shiny (or a result of 15 or less on a 2d100). If both parents are shiny on a result of 15 or less the child will be shiny (or on a result of 20 or less on a 2d100).

If one of the parents have an alternate colouration through natural means (such as through becoming pink permanently from eating pinkan berries) There's a 10% chance that the child will be born with this colouration. If both of the parents have the same alternate colouration it becomes a 25% chance. If both parents have alternate colourations but the colourations are different there's a 10% chance to gain an alternate colouration, upon success roll a 1d100. On 1-50, the child is born with the mother's colouration, on 51-100 the child is born with the father's colouration.

If the breeding result was negative, there's a 5% chance (with the above chances) that the child may be born with an entirely different colouration unique to itself (and is considered a natural alternate colouration) (And may be born with alternate features up to your GM such as a Pikachu's tail being straight instead of jagged, a Tauros' horns curving downward or coiled, etc.).
