HIS POV
I was headed down the hall with my father to meet with king Meng. Suddenly a girl rounded the corner, her boot steps clanging. She wore armor, her hair braided back by a red ribbon. She nearly ran us over, but I moved my father out of her path quickly enough. She turned back around and bowed, rushing an apology before hurrying off. I didn't see her face, just her long braid swinging behind her. I wanted to know more; I hadn't seen many female knights. Something was curious, though; she wore armor, but had no sword on her hip.
HER POV
Father had not given me much notice that Ambassador Kang was coming, so I hurried from the courtyard where I had been practicing and practically ran (ladies should never run) to my room in the south tower. I didn't want to wear armor to my first meeting with the Ambassador! First impressions are everything. I shot around a corner and nearly bulldozed three people! Thankfully they scrambled out of the way and I hastily bowed an apology. I got a quick look at the tallest one's face, fierce, lion-like features and a stoic expression. Something fluttered in my stomach as I caught his eye, but then I was off again, trying to tidy up before my meeting with out guests.
How they met:
HER POV
Finally I was dressed, my double braids refastened and tied with a blue ribbon to match my dress. I hurried to meet my father in the throne room, hopefully before the Ambassador did the same.
I walked quickly, though not hastily, and with purpose. I kept a fierce look on my face, prompting people to move out of my way.  I knocked on the throne room's large oak door before sliding through, bowing to my father as I entered. Unfortunately, I didn't beat the Ambassador.
Three figures turned around, and my heart leapt as I recognized the man from earlier. His features were even more striking as I got a closer look at them, but I kept my eyes trained on my father and my expression carefully neutral. I sank to the floor in apology and expressed my regret for being unable to greet the ambassador and his family properly. I sorely hoped that they didn't recognize me. My father dismissed my apology and I rose to stand beside him and my siblings. I finally got the chance to study our guests' faces; the Ambassador was shorter than both of his sons, and stout, with a graying beard and warm smile. The shorter of the two sons wore pale green finery and had bronze hair, combed back just so. He seemed younger if only because of his disposition. His chest was puffed out, his gaze wide-eyed and proud. The tallest son, with the piercing gaze that sent butterflies through my stomach, sore dark clothing, with charcoal hair that complimented his flawless skin. His features were strong and striking, their expression unreadable. I would have to be extra cautious around him.

At first they are cold and proper with each other, but as they spend more time together, they loosen and begin to share small smiles, moving from politeness to snarky familiarity. They begin to show playfulness around each other, though only when they are alone.
