  1. General Interest
  2. As with every event post SRGM3, general interest for a marathon has been hard to determine. Some people seem to get really excited about doing runs for, putting on, and watching SRGMs. Others think it's shit and should just die. I'm not sure where each stands currently, but if there are going to be anymore marathons then we should workout the details and ideas. For example, we knew that with marathon saturation and several other marathons raising funds for free vacations, we didn't need SRGM6 to happen when SRGMs typically happen before a GDQ/ESA event, so it didn't.
  3.
  4. Timing
  5. Since the time for GDQ/ESA when SRGM normally happens has already passed, and more marathons are happening more frequently, the timing for SRGM6 is somewhat important. We don't need to hold it when people are just getting out of school (as with SRG4) but we also don't need to hold it during other marathons. Availability is important, but so is time to get everything organized. We're all lazy fucks to some degree when it comes to organization, and some of us have actual responsibilities to take care of. If we do move forward with SRGM6, we'll have to work out what the best timing for the event will be.
  6.
  7. Finish 5RG
  8. Good meme, but seriously where is jmatt? If we can begin SRGM6 with the remainder of the runs that were killed in favor of elf from 5RG, that'd be pretty cool. If it doesn't work out, then fuck it let's just move on.
  9.
  10. Possibility of Live Events
  11. The idea of SRGM being a live event has been thrown around before, so let's return to it now. I'm not thinking of a big meetup in one location, but rather several smaller meetups cut up into different blocks. Yea this might cause some debate over “best coast” or “yuros vs amerifats” but whatever, it doesn't seem feasible for everyone to meetup in one place like a GDQ/ESA. It's an interesting idea and if individuals organize it properly for their areas, it could help out a lot with the general interest and add some flavor to typical SRGM format of being only online.
  12.
  13. Not Just Speedrunning
  14. >implying the trainwrecks during the marathon are speedruns. Still, another idea would be to not have just all speedrunning. I'm unsure what exactly this would mean, so someone would have to flesh out what would be acceptable.
  15.
  16. Special Blocks
  17. Dinoblock, live event blocks, clique blocks, cruxits funtime block, tetris blocks. People really like blocks.
  18.
  19. Stream Setup
  20. Depending on what we plan on for SRGM6, the setup for streaming the event could change. A lot of people have helped out to make the marathon possible and of good quality, but I'm unsure of their possible involvement again. Nothing has been directly talked about, and some ideas might not workout without their technical and design expertise. Regardless of what we do, we always need people to restream and help.
  21.
  22. Betting Replacing Donations
  23. I've never liked donations, but a common debate is whether marathons with or without donations enhance the experience. 5RG raised money for Doctors Without Boarders, but literally all of the donations came from the MHC block. Our “success” of a marathon has never been focused on the amount of money raised – that's not the issue – it's whether comments through donations, real or fake, enhance the marathon and make it better. I think we could accomplish a similar feel to comments through betting on final times or winning races with something like cronicoins (or whatever you wanna call them). This is a system that people with the technical know-how would have to want to create for us. Regardless of whether or not we go through with some sort of betting system, I think we should not take donations anymore.
  24.
  25. Duration
  26. Again depending on what we aim for, the duration of these marathons have fluctuated a lot. We've had a duration as long or longer than GDQ/ESA, to a limit of 4~ days which included cuts. Availability plays into this as well. I don't think anyone enjoyed having to cut games, but with the limited amount of people who really help out with the marathon, having it be over a week long can be really tiring and frustrating. We've also generally not accepted 3+ hour runs, but if we did that could also increase the duration of the event.
  27.
  28. Who is we?
  29. Like every marathon after SRG1, who we let in has been an issue. From stevewontleave to reddit to cliques and whatever the fuck else, people seem to have issues with who gets to run at a SRGM, and this time around won't be any different. How do we handle this? Fuck if I know.
  30.
  31. Conclusion
  32. I'm more than willing to help organize yet another marathon, and I'm sure others are also willing. But let's not just have a marathon to have a marathon. Let's try and spice things up, try something new, and have runners who really want to run and staff who genuinely want to put on the marathon. We can return to our roots, or try and do something else with the channel besides just marathons, or just not do anything.
