  1. >You take a deep breath as you walk up the concrete stairs leading to your apartment.
  2. >The smell of the pizza in your hands was heavenly, and you're glad you're finally home.
  3. >Work was crazy busy tonight, and you had to stay a few minutes late.
  4. >But it always gets this busy around this time of year.
  5. >The holidays are comin' to town, and they're bringing turkey, Santa Claus, and huge sales on presents.
  6. >Coming soon to a retail store near you.
  7. >You aren't complaining though.
  8. >Life is good, and you make enough to meet your needs, and you've got a roof over your head.
  9. >You pop your neck and unlock the door.
  10. "HOOO boy, what a day!"
  11. >Stepping inside, you see your adorable, formerly homeless girlfriend, Sunset Shimmer, sitting on the couch watching tv.
  12. >She turns to you and smiles.
  13. >"Anon! You're home!
  14. "Yes! And I come bearing gifts!"
  15. >You walk over to the coffee table and set the pizza down.
  16. >You bend down to give her a kiss.
  17. >"Rough day, huh?"
  18. >You make a groan and plop on the couch.
  19. "Oh, you have no idea..."
  20. >You work in a warehouse shipping out miscellaneous stuff varying from toys to office supplies and furniture to different stores all over the country.
  21. >They're finally doing their end-of-year sales, and so orders for stuff were coming in from left to right.
  22. >You give a quick recap of the day as she massages your shoulders.
  23. >Her fingers are like magic.
  24. >"Oh Anon, I'm sorry."
  25. "Eh, it's okay. It's worth it. It's decent pay, and I feel accomplished. Plus, it makes the time I spend with you even more valuable."
  26. >She blushes and gives a little giggle.
  27. >"Oh now you're just saying things..."
  28. "Only because it's true!"
  29. >You smirk at her and give her another quick kiss.
  30. >You stand up and stretch and walk into your kitchen.
  31. >It's been cleaned up from the fire incident a little while ago, but your stuff is still broken.
  32. >You've been getting take-out for a couple of days.
  33. >Tonight was Wednesday, so you got pizza.
  34. >Yesterday, you got tacos.
  35. >You look in the fridge for something to drink.
  36. "So what did you do today while I was gone?"
  37. >"Well, I watched Batman Begins and part of The Dark Knight."
  38. >You shut the door with a couple of sodas in your hands and peek around the corner, feigning a look of offense.
  39. "Without... M-Me?"
  40. >She shrugs at you.
  41. >"I'm sorry, but you got me all excited about superheroes! It looked good!"
  42. "And it IS good!"
  43. >You walk back over to her and sit on the couch next to her.
  44. >"How about we finish the rest of this one, then we watch the third one all the way through together?"
  45. >You put your finger up to your chin, pretending to think about it.
  46. "Alright, you've got a deal. Forgiven!"
  47. >"Yay!"
  48. >She hugs you excitedly.
  49. "Now..."
  50. >You grab the remote and look her in the eyes.
  51. "...Let's put a smile on that face."
  52. >You do your best Joker impression as you say it.
  53. >She just cocks her head at you.
  54. >"What?"
  55. >...
  56. "Oh, you haven't got to that part yet... Never mind!"
  57. >You snuggle together and press play.
  58.
  59. ---
  60.
  61. "If I take off that mask, will you die?"
  62. >"It would be very painful... For you."
  63. >The Batman marathon is over, and now, you're both sitting on the couch doing your best Bane impression to each other.
  64. >She's cupping her hands over her mouth while she does it, and it sounds good.
  65. >She even got the wheezy breathing down.
  66. >She's really good. You might lose this contest.
  67. >She giggles and puts her hands down.
  68. >"Okay, now you!"
  69. "Okay!"
  70. >You clear your throat and cup your mouth.
  71. "Speak of the devil... And he shall appear."
  72. >It sucked.
  73. >She laughs and sets her drink on the table.
  74. >Suddenly, the drink falls to the ground and spills on the ground, causing her to give a little shriek.
  75. >Golden oppurtunity.
  76. "Ah yes! I was wondering what would break first!"
  77. >She's torn between wanting to beg for forgiveness and laughing harder.
  78. >"Anon, I'm sorry! I'll clean it up!"
  79. "No! Your punishment must be more severe!"
  80. >You reach forward and poke her sides.
  81. >"No! NoaaaAAAHAHAHAHA!!!"
  82. >She squirms wildly and laughs as you tickle her.
  83. >You laugh with her as she tries to fight you, but you hold her down.
  84. >You ease up after a little bit, and she gets her arms out.
  85. >She reaches down and starts tickling you!
  86. >You let out a Ron Swanson giggle as you both squirm around, tickling the hell out of each other.
  87. >You're both laughing and wrestling with each other to try and out tickle the other.
  88. >After a couple of minutes of fun tickling, you both stop.
  89. >You lay on the couch with Sunset on you.
  90. >Both of your sides hurt and you're both out of breath.
  91. >She looks into your eyes with that adorable smile of hers and boops your nose with hers.
  92. >Shes so silly.
  93. >You give her a quick peck and she giggles.
  94. >She sits up and stretches.
  95. >"Thanks for watching Batman with me."
  96. "Thanks for letting me watch Batman with you."
  97. >She walks into the kitchen.
  98. >It's getting late, so you sit up and start gathering the leftover food up.
  99. >Sunset comes back with a paper towel and cleans up her spilled beverage.
  100. >You take them from her and throw them away.
  101. >"I'm gonna take a shower then go to bed."
  102. "Alright. I might stay up a bit."
  103. >She smiles and gives you a hug, followed by a quick kiss before she goes into the bathroom.
  104. >You turn on your Wii and insert a game disk.
  105. >You grab a GameCube controller and sit down on the couch.
  106. >You love watching movies with Sunset after a hard days work, but now she's occupied.
  107. >Time to make yourself occupied as well.
  108. >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Mm8_suRTPw
  109.
  110. ---
  111.
  112. >You are now Sunset Shimmer.
  113. >And you're very happy.
  114. >You're living in a decent apartment with one of the nicest guys you've ever met.
  115. >Anon is a wonderful boyfriend, and an even more wonderful person.
  116. >He willingly took you in, fed you, gave you a place to sleep, and clothed you.
  117. >Even when he had almost nothing himself.
  118. >You just couldn't be more grateful for his selflessness.
  119. >You yawn as you step out of the shower.
  120. >It's been a long but good day.
  121. >You've been getting caught up on a few popular things that Anon likes.
  122. >You never had the chance to get into pop culture or fun stuff before, it was just about surviving another day.
  123. >You grab a towel and dry yourself off.
  124. >You wonder if Anon is still awake.
  125. >Sure, he said he would be, but you took a really long shower.
  126. >Putting on your oversized t shirt, you step outside.
  127. >Yep, the place is dark.
  128. >You walk into the bedroom to find Anon sound asleep.
  129. >You smile and get under the covers.
  130. >He shifts and lifts up his arms so you can cuddle up close to him.
  131. >You take a deep breath and smile.
  132. >You're so glad Anon came into your life.
  133. >You were so close to giving up, so close to the end, you were sure of it.
  134. >Until he came along.
  135. >Your loverboy.
  136. >...
  137. >Love...
  138. >...
  139. >Is this what love is?
  140. >Do you love Anon?
  141. >You looked up to his face, thinking about it.
  142. >You've put your trust in him with your life, and he hasn't betrayed that trust.
  143. >He's given you everything he could to make sure you were safe and looked after.
  144. >You felt so special when he was around.
  145. >The way he looks at you, talks, laughs, it all just makes any cares in your head disappear completely.
  146. >Thinking about it makes your eyes tear up and you smile.
  147. >You rest your head on his chest and close your eyes, whispering to him.
  148. "I love you, Anonymous..."
  149. >You smile and let yourself drift off to sleep.
  150.
  151. ---
  152.
  153. >You stir as you slowly wake up.
  154. >Opening your eyes, the room is still dark, just as you left it.
  155. >Something was wrong though.
  156. >As your brain slowly wakes up, a smell hits your nose.
  157. >It smells like smoke.
  158. >You sit up and hit a cloud of smoke with your face.
  159. >You cough and turn to Anon, who's still asleep.
  160. "Anon."
  161. >He doesn't respond.
  162. >You shake him and try to wake him up.
  163. "Anon, get up. Something isn't right."
  164. >He groans and yawns.
  165. >"Mmmfff.... What... What's wrong?"
  166. >Taking a tired deep breath, he freezes as the smell hits his nose.
  167. >"What is that?"
  168. >He sits up and swings out of bed, walking to the door.
  169. >When he opens it, an orange light illuminates the room.
  170. >You see his eyes widen and he runs out the door.
  171. >"Shit! SHIT SHIT SHIT!"
  172. "Anon?! What is it?!"
  173. >You jump out of bed and run after him.
  174. >When you leave the room, you see the apartment completely engulfed in flames.
  175. >Anon is standing there, grabbing his head and looking around, horrified.
  176. >You shriek and run up to him.
  177. "Anon, what do we do?!"
  178. >He stares at the scene in shock.
  179. "ANON!"
  180. >He turns to you and grabs your shoulders.
  181. >"Sunset, listen to me! Grab my phone and dial 911! Get your shoes on and get outside as fast as you can! GO NOW!"
  182. "Okay!"
  183. >You run back to the bedroom and turn on the light.
  184. >You grab Anon's phone and dial 911.
  185. >Spotting your shoes, you grab them and put them on as fast as you can.
  186. >"911, what is your emergency?"
  187. "HELLO! Hello! Please help! Our apartment is on fire!"
  188. >"Miss, please calm down, and get outside if you can. We'll send a team there as fast as we can."
  189. "Thank you! Thank you so much! Please hurry!"
  190. >You shakily finish putting your shoes on and run back outside.
  191. >You're on the verge of tears, you're panicking so much.
  192. >The living room is completely ablaze. The couch, table, tv, everything.
  193. >The kitchen is on fire even more; you can't see anything except fire.
  194. >You see Anon grab a large blanket from behind the burning couch and look at you.
  195. >"Get outside! Hurry! I'll be right behind you!"
  196. >Before you can reply, he covers himself with the blanket and runs into the burning kitchen.
  197. "Anon, no!!"
  198. >You try to stop him, but you're too late.
  199. >You look inside the flames, trying to spot him.
  200. >The brightness, smoke, and tears flowing from your eyes aren't helping.
  201. "Anon!!! Oh Celestia, please!! Anon! ANOOON!!"
  202. >You stand there, horrified and sobbing as you wait for some kind of sign that he heard you.
  203. >What was he thinking?! He must be insane!
  204. >You're thinking about running in after him.
  205. >It might be a deathwish, but he has to get out of there!
  206. >Before making any movements, he comes bolting out of the inferno.
  207. >The blanket over his head is completely covered in flames.
  208. >In one fluid motion, he throws it onto the ground, grabs your wrist, and pulls you toward the door.
  209. >You almost trip and fall to the ground, but manage to catch yourself.
  210. >He charges the front door and slams into it, quickly turning the doorknob and opening it.
  211. >He pushes you out first before flying out himself.
  212. >You run down the stairs and fall to the snow-covered ground.
  213. >Anon lands right beside you, coughing out of control.
  214. "Anon! Oh Celestia, Anon! Are you okay?!"
  215. >He keeps coughing, but nods.
  216. >You just look at him as he wheezes for air.
  217. >"I'm...*cough cough* I-I'm okay..."
  218. >You pant and sniff, just relieved that he's alright.
  219. >You look back at the burning apartment building and start crying again.
  220. >You were inside there just a few seconds ago.
  221. >Suddenly, a metallic clanking noise gets your attention.
  222. >Anon dropped a small black box he was carrying.
  223. >Is that what he got from the kitchen?
  224. >A fire engine siren cuts off your thoughts.
  225. >Looking to your right, you see the red flashing lights approach your location.
  226. >It screeches to a stop in front of you and a few firefighters get out and grab their tools.
  227. >One of them looks over at you.
  228. >"Hey! How many people are still inside?!"
  229. >Anon wheezes and coughs another time.
  230. >"No one! It's totally vacant!"
  231. >He nods and helps the rest of the firefighters do their thing.
  232. >Anon turns and sits down, facing the burning building.
  233. >He grabs the black box and stares at it for a moment.
  234. "Anon?"
  235. >He doesn't reply.
  236. "Anon, what is this?"
  237. >You reach out and barely touch the box.
  238. >It's freezing.
  239. >He covers it with his hands and looks down at it.
  240. >He still doesnt reply.
  241. >You just scoot over to him and put your arm around him.
  242. >You watch the firefighters scramble to extinguish the flames.
  243.
  244. ---
  245.
  246. >You are Anon.
  247. >And right now, you're at a new low.
  248. >You can't believe what's happening right now.
  249. >Your crappy apartment you worked so hard to get, all your stuff you paid for with your hard-earned money, its all up in flames now.
  250. >Everything.
  251. >You and Sunset made it out in one piece though.
  252. >A part of you wishes you didn't make it out though.
  253. >"Anon?"
  254. >You blink, snapping yourself out of your trance.
  255. >You look over at Sunset, she's looking at you, worried.
  256. >"Are you okay?"
  257. >No.
  258. >Not even a little bit.
  259. >You look back toward your apartment and nod slowly.
  260. "Y... Yep... 'mfine..."
  261. >The flames are out and the firefighters are walking in and out of your front door.
  262. >Sunset cuddles against you under a blanket.
  263. >...
  264. >Wait...
  265. "Where... Where did this come from?"
  266. >"Uh, one of the firemen gave it to us... Remember?"
  267. >You feel it in your fingers.
  268. "No..."
  269. >Damn, you're out of it.
  270. >"Hey..."
  271. >Sunset reaches up and touches your cheek, forcing you to look at her.
  272. >"...everything will be okay, okay?"
  273. >She tries to smile as best she can, but you can tell right off the bat that it's fake.
  274. "I know..."
  275. >You look down at the box in your hands and rub it.
  276. "...I just wish that it didn't have to come to this."
  277. >Spinning to the correct numbers on the dial in front, you unlock and open the box.
  278. >You show it to Sunset, and her eyes go wide when she sees it's contents.
  279. >"O- Oh my gosh..."
  280. >Inside lay a clear envelope containing $5,000 cash.
