  1. Extended Reading: Ancients. (Noteworthy is the fact that most citizens of the Erilyan League of Nations, would in fact be aware of what is in this paste)
  2.
  3. --------------------------
  4.
  5. While the current ensemble of seven Ancients is well known, the fact is that there exist other, former Ancients, future Ancients, minor Ancients and demi-Ancient beings.
  6.
  7. First, the former Ancients:

  10.
  11. Gryphion, the Gallant, Gilded Archer - GRPH - Glory, hunting, stars, heroics
  12.
  13. Gryphion was a humanoid Ancient, said to be possessed of a golden shine and countenance, radiant, fabulous hair and peerless beauty. One of the rare few to actually dwell on Corius, Gryphion was a golden giant, who hunted the large and dangerous beasts of primordial Corius with his bow that 'shot forth rays of light'. It is said, that the extinction of these beasts brought about the possibility of smaller life forms growing peacefully in Corius.
  14.
  15. Gryphion rose to the defense of Aoro, when Yavan came for her. The myth goes that he struck against him, countless time with his golden bow, piercing Yavan's skin many times. The shining arrows remained, and formed the stars. Of course, even wounded, Yavan managed to bite Gryphion and snap him in two, killing him. Since then, stars have been told to have the power to predict death. Yavan's injuries helped Aoro stand a chance and ultimately kill him, whereas Corona skinned him, making her cloak, YVNACHM (Yavanachman - Yavan's Pelt).
  16.
  17. Gryphon's corpse was never found, but his bow was taken by Anki, and given to his the first and greatest Watcher, Ramaann.
  18.
  19. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20.
  21. Raeh - RWHH - Death, the Netherworld, Justice, Judgement.
  22.
  23. A mysterious former Ancient, whose domain was split between Anki and the Nameless Ancient, Raeh was a shadowy figure, possessed of great and terrible power. He was said to resemble a tall, cloaked man with a dark mist flowing around him, and a large sword in hand. Raeh was said to be more active in his duties. Anyone he pointed at, would suddenly die, he could freeze large areas, and his sword would never break.
  24.
  25. In the Netherworld, he was said to be absolutely invincible. He subjugated all of the inhabitants of the Netherworld, and wove them cloaks like his own, giving birth to the Shades. The other known snippets about Raeh says that after having a mysterious vision, he left his subjects, and chose to venture deeper into the Netherworld than anyone ever had. He was never seen or heard of from again.

  27. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  28.
  29. Ielawn, Breisen and Melchimor - ILWN, BRSN, LCHM
  30.
  31. Three Ancients that proclaimed themselves rulers of the earth, sea and sky of Corius. Ielawn was said to be immensely tall and many armed capable of 'succeeding himself all by his lonesome', Breisen was said to be 'one who returns every blow and offense three fold' and Melchimor, 'a being of song and lightning, of twelve sickly winds of death'.
  32.
  33. Little else is known on these particular Ancients, other than a text mentioning them as offhandedly slain by Yavan. It is however, rumored that Inthar guided their essence into his world, and transformed it into a seed from which three great daemons, Zarnak, Seria and Uren grew.
  34.
  35. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  36.
  37. Besides these unfortunately slain or vanished Ancients (all but one of them, by Yavan) there were and are others, less involved but certainly existing.
  38.
  39. One particular set, are the three Primordials. Ancients that preceded the others, and were there when not much else was. They are rarely spoken of and mostly mentioned in statements, rather than myths, and especially not myths about themselves.
  40.
  41. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  42.
  43. Baltheor, the Sleeping - BLTR - Sleep, dreams, darkness, depth, water, the primordial ocean, the sky, the moon
  44.
  45. Baltheor is said to have been an incredibly vast black being, with a gigantic belly and always asleep. In his sleep, he produced a thin veil of purple smoke form his forehead, which took on a shape in accordance with his dreams. This dream-Baltheor was affable and held court among many other beings, manifested from 'worlds of thought', where partying, drinking, eating and sex were a permanent fixture, not to mention discussions of philosophical nature.
  46.
  47. Once awakened however, Baltheor's dark form was possessed of immense hunger and was completely untouchable. The other primordials had to be called in to hold him down, and they did, with great difficulty. The myths say that they did so by splitting him in half, one half turning into Yavan and the other becoming a bright light in the midst of the nothingness. The smoke that came from his forehead dispersed all over Corius, becoming what was known as Dream Force. Much later, the light in the midst of the nothingness would be found, by a single human being, who merged with it... and was reborn as Inthar.
