- The worst part about translating stuff is the number of extra tabs and windows I have to open. That puts me off the most.
- I used "ship girl" instead of "fleet girl" because as you know 艦隊これくしょん simply means Fleet Collection, not "Combined Fleet Girls Collection". From there, I surmised that 艦隊これくしょん is actually already shortened, and the full name is "連合艦隊娘これくしょん". Not only that, I figured it would be "Combined Fleet" "Girls Collection", not "Combined Fleet Girls" Collection. In other words, you are collecting girls with (initially at least) the IJN being the theme. So calling them "fleet girls" would actually be fundamentally wrong.
- But then that'd make no sense to restrict it to being WW2 ships only. Oh well.
- What I've noticed so far, as a translator:
- -the only thing that translating non-H really has over translating H is that there's a lot less SFX to bother with in general. Not a problem for those who don't bother with SFX, though.
- -Slice-of-life non-H has a lot less technical terms than H (which will have biology-related terms) in general so it's simpler and easier to translate, but if other technical terms (eg. naval terminology) come into play they can get a lot more complicated and difficult to translate. Non-H is far more likely to contain these other technical terms than H, so non-H with these other technical terms are more difficult to translate than H in general.
- This may be why most translators here prefer to translate "comfy" stuff. Other translators may feel free to prove me wrong on this part, since I'm sure you have more experience than me when it comes to translating stuff like this.
