  1. Step 1 (Background and Concept Elements)
  2. 1. Ronald was once a student at the Grand School for Wizards. He is a cheerful, helpful character who is more than happy to lend a hand to the downtrodden, a factor marred only by the fact he is completely batshit insane.
  3. 2. At the Grand School, an event which came to be known as “The Great Shunting” rendered him insane – he now believes that Sehanine, the Goddess of the Moon, has fallen in love with him, and is on a quest to prove his worth to her. He will willingly side with any other adventurer if it means finishing his divine quest for love, as misguided as it is.
  4. 3. He has few friends, due to his eccentric nature – his cheerful attitude can be grating, and his various attempts to solve everything via magic tend to go hilariously wrong. For this reason, many people avoid him out of fear of the damage he could bring to them.
  5. 4. He has a strange, magpie-like fascination with magical talismans, hoarding them for some unexplained reason. When questioned about this, he never gives the same answer twice.
  6. 5. It is unknown at this time if there is a possible cure for his dementia, or indeed what the consequences will be when he realises all he has worked for was in aid of a fictitious dream.
  7.
  8. Step 2 (Goals)
  9. 1. I would like to investigate the events behind Ronald’s dementia, and what caused the Great Shunting – was there an ulterior motive to it?
  10. 2. It would be cool to see Ronald either be successful in his quest, in a case of irony, or to be cured of his dementia.
  11.
  12. Step 3 (Secrets)
  13. 1. He is currently being hunted by the Wizard community, who fear that his insanity, coupled with his proficiency in eldritch magic, could prove a danger to reality itself.
  14. 2. He has never taken off his trousers. When asked why this is so, he simply looks terribly embarrassed and tries to change the subject.
  15. 3. He is a skilled baker – at school, his fruit flans were the subject of acclaim. He also loves writing and singing, and hopes to become a bard once the quest is over.
  16.
  17. Step 4 (Related Characters)
  18. 1. Henry "Pluto" Pondleby II is the Grand High Wizard, and is highly intrigued by Ronald’s condition. He has put on a façade of “keeping the piece” in order to examine what Ronald does, and hopes to be able to meet him in person, with the intention of studying his condition to find a cure for it.
  19. 2. Sir Richard Peake is the ever-exasperated paladin charged with seeking and destroying Ronald. A devout follower of Bahamut, Richard believes that Ronald’s actions and history make him a heretic, and will stop at nothing to track him down, even if he is surrounded by total idiots who can’t tie their belts.
  20. 3. Joannah Baker Jr was a fellow student of Ronald’s, who somehow managed to survive the Great Shunting. Now working as a paid assassin on the streets, Joannah’s only wish is to ensure that Ronald does not get into trouble with the authorities, even though she considers his quest foolish and ultimately doomed.
  21.
  22. Step 5 (Memories, Quirks and Mannerisms)
  23. 1. Ronald’s last coherent memory is of sitting in his Non-Euclidian Physicis class, quill at the ready. All attempts to pry into more recent memories are met with what has been described as “mental static”.
  24. 2. Ronald has a strange motor tic – when sitting still or not moving, he tends to tap one foot or hand in a strange rhythm that apparently only he can hear.
  25. 3. Ronald goes about chores with a smile and a tune, and looks on the bright side of everything, even if he does occasionally cock up.
