- An act to amend the Nobility and Honours Act, 2018.
- I. On Gendered Language
- (1) In recognition of the broad spectrum of gender identity, diverse use of pronouns and the regional goal of creating a vibrant, tolerant community, the Council determines to accommodate recipients of peerages and regional awards established by past legislation who do not conform to the gendered language currently therein.
- (2) Thus, all instances of the phrase “his/her” or “her/his” will be struck and replaced with “his/her/their”.
- (3) The Pharaoh’s formal style of address shall be amended to read “His/her/their Royal Majesty, [their name], Scion of Osiris” and “Your Royal Majesty, Scion of Osiris” in direct address.
- (4) All titles bearing the formal style of address “Lord/Lady” will be amended to include “Liege” as a third option.
- (5) All titles bearing the formal style of address “Master/Madam” will be amended to include “Sera” as a third option.
- (6) Those individuals awarded the Key to the City shall be afforded the title of Bey, replacing “Lord/Lady” of that city.
- (7) The recipient of an honour or royal title is reserved the right to amend their own pronouns and style.
- i. Personal amendments to one’s pronouns and style must be made in good faith, not exceeding the recipient’s standing in the hierarchy of titles, and must not infringe the Pharaoh’s honour.
- II. On The Addition Of New Articles
- The Nobility and Honours Act will be amended to include two new articles, and read thus:
- —
- V. On Record-Keeping
- (1) The Chief Scribe will be entrusted the duty of maintaining a registry of all currently held royal titles and regional honours.
- (2) The Chief Scribe is reserved the right to entrust the upkeep of the registry to a chosen deputy.
- (3) The registry will be made publicly visible in the Temple of Bes.
- VI. Miscellany
- (1) The Council of Scribes may pass non-binding resolutions recommending the award of a royal title, or the creation of a new royal title.
- (2) No person may be awarded a title or honour without their consent; any attempt on the part of the Council or Pharaoh to force one on an unwilling recipient is illegal.
