  1. Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) is a national South Korean television and radio network company, owned by the Taeyoung chaebol. In March 2000, the company legally became known as SBS, changing its corporate name from Seoul Broadcasting System. It has provided digital terrestrial television service in the ATSC format since 2001, and T-DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) service since 2005. Its flagship terrestrial television station is Channel 6 for digital and cable.

  4. SBS TV is a South Korean free-to-air television channel operated by Seoul Broadcasting System. The channel was launched on 9 December 1991.

On 1 December 1991, that same year, when MBC celebrated its 30th anniversary, SBS commenced its official broadcasts with the introduction of SBS TV at 10:00am in Seoul, and it was designated as "The Day of Birth of SBS", but initially, SBS were only broadcasting terrestrially in Seoul and its surrounding areas. On 9 October 1992, the government began accepting applications for private broadcasting stations in other regions of the country. SBS had planned for a television and radio broadcast affiliate network that aims to air SBS' programs in other new regional channels before its 5th anniversary. In 1994, the private channels KNN in Busan, TJB in Daejeon, TBC in Daegu, and kbc in Gwangju were created after government approval. On 14 May 1995, SBS launched its national television network with its new local affiliates, KNN, TJB, TBC, and kbc. SBS had managed a network that airs SBS programs in other regional channels while local stations created local programming to suit the local residents needs.

  8. SBS dramas have been part of the "Korean Wave", exported to many countries across the world. Sandglass has one of the highest viewership ratings in South Korea, and is considered the breakout drama for the network. SBS airs a variety of entertainment programs ranging from informational, comedy, music, reality, talk shows, and auditions. SBS documentaries encompass a wide range of issues, from foreign affairs to the environment. The Its Know premiered in 1992, and has since earned notoriety for its investigations from a journalistic standpoint. SBS also broke tradition by creating its flagship newscast SBS 8 News, airing at 20:00 instead of 21:00, giving itself the slogan "News an hour earlier".

  10. SBS 8 News is the flagship nightly newscast of the Seoul Broadcasting System. Airing from 19:55-21:00 KST on weekdays since 21 September 2020 and from 20:00-20:45 KST on weekends, the newscast is known for breaking the tradition of airing news at 21:00 mastered by KBS, which gave the slogan: "News an hour earlier". It premiered on 9 December 1991, in conjunction with SBS' launch. In commemoration of the broadcaster's 20th anniversary on 9 December 2011, SBS 8 News celebrated its 20th anniversary, making it the longest-running nightly newscast airing on a private broadcaster.

  12. SBS Morning Wide is the morning newscast of the Seoul Broadcasting System, airing from 06:00-08:35 KST on weekdays and 06:00-07:15 on Saturdays. It premiered on 17 April 1995. SBS Morning Wide on weekdays has a unique composition that mixes morning general news and current affairs culture programs. However, to be precise, the first and second parts on weekdays were classified as morning general news, and the third part was classified as current affairs.

  14. SBS News is a morning newscast of the Seoul Broadcasting System, airing on weekdays from 10:10-10:30 KST. It premiered on 4 March 1996. TJB and CJB broadcast their own local news from 10:20 KST.

Launched as UTV on August 16, 2005, it became E! on January 1, 2009 after an agreement between SBS and NBCUniversal on September 5, 2008. The channel was renamed SBS E! on November 1, 2011.

  46. On August 13, 2009, SBS took over all stocks of a sports TV channel Xports, which were shared by CJ Media (70%) and IB Sports (30%). After a partnership agreement with CNBC which taken on October 22, 2009, Xports was shut down and replaced by SBS CNBC on December 28, 2009.

The station launched on 14 November 1996 and is heard nationwide via syndication with local FM stations in Korea via HLDG-FM in Busan, HLDE-FM in Daegu, HLDH-FM in Gwangju, HLDF-FM in Daejeon, HLDP-FM in Ulsan, HLDQ-FM in Jeonju, HLDR-FM in Cheongju, HLCG-FM in Gangwon, HLQC-FM in Jeju and HLKJ-FM in Seogwipo.
