- He had pleaded criminal insanity. It was either that or death row. But now he began wondering if it was really worth it, living his days out in this dull institution, never leaving the square room they had assigned him. Extra-secure, if he might add. They were taking such precautions around him.
- He was giving them Cornelius Martell. The nice father who adored cats and fine literature. Several of the workers were convinced he had been framed. But he didn't deny it. And there was ofcourse the issue of that one day when one of the other inmates had attacked him, to see if he really was as horrible as they made him out to be. He wanted to challenge Briar Rose, the other one had said. He should have asked to challenge Cornelius instead, then he might have been alive still.
- From that day on he was not allowed to interact with other inmates. A solitary life with dull routines. Until she came in. Lovely, lovely Lucy. She had gotten hired by the FBI, analyzing criminals, more specifically serial killers, trying to create profiles. Trying to catch them.
- She offered him a chance at some kind of freedom.
- Ofcourse, he took it.
- Aiding the police in putting their former neighbours behind bars was rather satisfying.
