  1. [19:04:29] Somber The five friends had managed to escape from stable 42, a stable devoted to discovering why the great war had happened. It had attempted to impose a warning to the companions, trying to convince them that some outside source was influencing a cycle of conflicts. It had struggled to convince the others, but it seemed like it had failed to do so. They'd come
  2. [19:06:04] Somber out atop a stable tech building; the door to the passageway sealed up. They'd also found a way to evade Gator for the time being, and now had the herbs needed to kill the parasites used by Sweet Tea to control the ponies in new unicornia.
  3. [19:10:55] Shimmershy was up early, her night spent in fitful, not-happy sleep. Sitting on the edge of the building glaring down over the wasteland quietly as her tail lashed now and then behind her. Waiting for the others to get up. Right now she wanted nothing so much as to be out of here and someplace where she could finally, finally get rid of this horrible, gnawing hatred and anger. Anything
  4. [19:10:56] Shimmershy was better than that feeling...
  5. [19:13:02] Edna_Stonetalon has snuggled up to Night_Wind after Shimmershy has left them
  6. [19:13:45] Somber No blights were active within view. The wasteland; a mass of gray, brown, and struggling vegitation stretched out around them. There were a number of crumbled office buildings around them.
  7. [19:14:49] Swamp_Shadow wakes up after a horrible night sleep and notices Shimmershy. Walking over on a wobbly, cybernetic foreleg, she sits next to her and watches the sunrise in silence, only breaking it by saying "Hey" before sitting down.
  8. [19:15:47] Shimmershy snorts and fidgets slightly, looking up to Swampy, she sighs and deflates a little bit. "Hey. I hope the others don't sleep in too much. Hate to miss an opportunity to make it back to Olives today..." She folded back her ears with a growl, "I want this... Remnant to stop worming around in my head."
  9. [19:16:14] Night_Wind was happily snoozing with a cute little bundle of fur and feathers...deadly too, but the cute part was what she was enjoying.
  10. [19:17:23] Swamp_Shadow nods. "Yeah. Ah want ya to feel better as fast as possible and back to normal. Ah... Ah don't think Ah'll ever be able to go back to normal," Swampy sighs. "Plus, we're still in contested raider territory."
  11. [19:18:13] Wanderlust blinks blearily as he wakes up, the lack of Swampy's warmth next to him was enough to force him awake. He drags himself to his hooves and follows her, feeling a little stiff and sore himself. He nuzzles her as he catches up, but doesn't say anything for fear that he'd interrupt her conversation with Shimmer any more than he already had.
  12. [19:19:13] Edna_Stonetalon slowly wakes up and crawls out from under Night_Winds wing. Checking her gear and as she walks over to Shimmer and Swampy "Mornin. How you two doing?"
  13. [19:20:25] Shimmershy looks up towards Edna. "Better than I could be. Worse than I'd like to be." She slumps a little bit, then looks to Swamp Shadow. "Sorry. You've probably had it worse than I have. I just... It hurts, and I'm afraid I might start to like it, and then it would never go away. And I don't want to be that." She closed her eyes tight and shuddered slightly.
  14. [19:20:40] Swamp_Shadow waves her left forehoof at Edna. "Still metally. It's weird to walk... Ah guess Ah gotta learn to walk right again."
  15. [19:21:46] Edna_Stonetalon sits between them, putting a leg over each of them, pulling them into a gentle hug "We'll get through all this"
  16. [19:21:48] Swamp_Shadow puts a supportive right foreleg around Shimmershy. "We'll get ya fixed up, Shimmer. Hopefully we won't run into any Nightmares or Broncos on the way back to Olives.
  17. [19:22:27] Shimmershy sighed quietly and did her best to relax, "We should get moving as soon as we can."
  18. [19:23:22] Swamp_Shadow nods again. "Yeah. We got a long walk and some raiders to avoid. They tend to be more like gangers, but they can get a raider streak to them.
  19. [19:27:32] Night_Wind begins to stir, the noise and lack of Eddie teddy waking her from her blissful slumber. "Ugh, turn off the lights. Gimme five more minutes, mom..." she murmurs and rolls over shielding her face with a wing, but that wing bumps her horn, and...wait, horn? She startles awake, lurching to her hooves. "Wha-? Oh...ohhhhh...damn...oh!" Her face falls then rises again as she
  20. [19:27:32] Night_Wind turns to see her friends huddled together at the edge of the building. "Snuggle pile!" And she launches herself at the group for a big hug.
  21. [19:28:28] Swamp_Shadow "So we should stay in Nightmare territory. They like mares and hate stallions. I can claim Wander as mine and we should be fine." She then shudders. "The Broncos would probably allow Wander to claim me, but want 'favors' from the rest of y'all."
  22. [19:29:34] Swamp_Shadow isn't quite stable on her new hoof and loses her footing, falling on her face. "GAH!"
  23. [19:29:35] Edna_Stonetalon sighs "Still raider territory? I was gunna suggest we do a little scavenging first but I'd *MEEP!* " as Fumbles flops on the them
  24. [19:29:36] Shimmershy squeaks at the sound of Night Wind's call, the sudden grabbing of a hug making her struggle against the larger, stronger alicorn. "Let go of me!" She wiggles a little more trying to get out, before sighing and settling for just not getting hugged more. "We should go now that you're up. I want to get back to Olives soon..."
  25. [19:30:54] Swamp_Shadow then scrapes her half metal face off the floor and sighs. "Yeah, but at least we're out of Gator's territory."
  26. [19:33:09] Night_Wind makes a point of nuzzling Eddie and Shimmer both before letting them go. "Heee! It's good to be with friends! Yes, let's go," she replies sounding positively chipper and crackling a bit with excited energy.
  27. [19:34:20] Swamp_Shadow sighs, taking out her last piece of Slitherer Jerky and nomming on it quietly. "Well, at least everything tastes the same and Ah don't need to eat metal or gems or whatever robots eat."
  28. [19:35:10] Shimmershy sighs quietly and gathers herself up, grabbing her things and beginning the trek down from the top of the building.
  29. [19:36:09] Wanderlust cant help but shift uncomfortably at the idea of going into the territory of raiders that hated stallions, but Swampy probably knew what she was doing. He shakes off the worry and smiles, nuzzling Swampy as she finishes her jerky. "And you're as cute as ever." He says, hoping to improve her spirits.
  30. [19:37:32] Swamp_Shadow smiles slightly at the complement as she chews on the end of strip of jerky. "Thanks, Wander," she says and gives him a gentle peck on the cheek, worried her metal leg might malfunction and crush him if she tried to hug him.
  31. [19:38:38] Edna_Stonetalon eats some of her own jerky and drinks a bit of water "Let's get moving. Try and keep to these Nightmare's territory"
  32. [19:40:22] Wanderlust kisses back, taking a bit longer and aiming for her lips and stealing a bit of jerky from her mouth. He grins at her, daring her to take it back.
  33. [19:40:29] Night_Wind stretches out, limbering up for the journey ahead. "I'm ready when you all are. I suppose we don't need to scavenge with all the caps we have, but I still can't help feeling like we might be missing out on something."
  34. [19:41:57] Swamp_Shadow frowns at him before biting it back and stealing another kiss. Breaking it, Swampy stands up slowly. "Alright, let's get going."

  36. [19:46:04] Somber As they reach the ground floor, they see these offices have been used as a battle ground many times from how picked over they've been. There are thousands of bullet holes marring the concrete walls. Stretched across one wall they come across something particularly grisley; a freshly killed stallion spiked to the wall. From the amount of blood, he was alive
  37. [19:47:24] Somber when it was done. Not only had he been opened, but his innards were nailed to the wall as well. 'La Fou' was written in blood beneath his splayed out corpse.
  38. [19:48:10] Edna_Stonetalon cringes "Lovely"
  39. [19:48:12] Shimmershy was staring down at the ground, doing her best to just stay close to her friends, enough so not to even notice what was going on yet.
  40. [19:48:51] Night_Wind winces at the sight even though she's seen as bad or worse before even coming to Appleanta. "Well, that's positively dreadful. Wander, you may want to walk in the middle of our group for a while..."
  41. [19:53:02] Shimmershy didn't even seem to be paying attention to what the others were saying, preoccupied with her thoughts.
  42. [19:53:31] Wanderlust just stares at the corpse a moment before nodding. "Y-Yeah, that sounds like a good plan." He mumbles shakily.
  43. [19:55:10] Swamp_Shadow shivers. "We should leave. La Fou is bad juju. He... Stay back! THe body's wired with a grenade
  44. [19:55:58] Edna_Stonetalon groans and pushes the others away "Let's get out of here quick"
  45. [19:56:19] Somber Indeed, fortunately she doesn't set it off.
  46. [19:58:53] Swamp_Shadow "Yeah. That sounds like a good idea."
  47. [19:58:54] Somber The body lays spread out, but Edna has spotted one thing. The stallion had died with a rictus grin carved into his face.
  48. [19:58:59] Night_Wind shakes her head. "Typical raider trick boobytrapping a body. He may have had friends the raiders expected to come looking for him."
  49. [19:59:00] Shimmershy stumbles a little as she gets shoved by Edna, keeping her balance barely. She sighs. "Yeah..."
  50. [20:01:08] Edna_Stonetalon "Raiders will be raiders... and the ones who did this are extra messed up." pointing out that he had smiles carved into him over and over again
  51. [20:01:47] Swamp_Shadow frowns. "That's absolutely disgusting."
  52. [20:02:12] Wanderlust has since moved a good distance away from the body. "I'm with Eddie, lets get out of here before whoever did that comes back."
  53. [20:02:43] Swamp_Shadow shudders again. "Especially if it really is La Fou."
  54. [20:03:42] Somber As they start away from the body, a laugh echoes softly through the gutted out buildings. It's impossible to tell where it's coming from, how close or how far.
  55. [20:04:24] Shimmershy looks up towards the roofs, frowning with a sigh. "Today is not going to be a good day, is it?"
  56. [20:05:11] Night_Wind was just shying away from the creepily carved up body when they hear the laugh and she nearly wets herself. "Oh, that's not a happy sound at all."
  57. [20:05:34] Wanderlust sighs. "When is it ever a good day for us? I dont have anything on my EFS at least."
  58. [20:05:51] Edna_Stonetalon takes her rifle out "Nope. Gunna be yet another shitty day"
  59. [20:06:10] Swamp_Shadow sticks close to Wander, which is surprisingly different from her normal, gung ho scouting behavior. "Let's just go."
  60. [20:06:32] Wanderlust leans against her gently.
  61. [20:07:57] Shimmershy sticks close with the others, frowning as she looks up the walls.
  62. [20:09:21] Somber Nothing else happens as they move away to the north. They get two blocks when there's a soft explosion behind them and angry yells and shouts of pain. And the laughter repeats in hysterics. They leave the rest of the battleground behind, when Wanderlust notices something on his EFS.
  63. [20:09:23] Night_Wind sighs and checks her recharger rifle to make certain it's ready to fire. "Indeed, let's get going."
  64. [20:10:13] Somber There's a boarded up old store near them... still intact...
  65. [20:10:54] Wanderlust stops suddenly and points towards the old store. "I see some green bars inside the store. 6 of them." He looks at Eddie for direction.
  66. [20:11:33] Edna_Stonetalon ponders "Lets go say hello. They mite have something to trade"
  67. [20:11:51] Night_Wind leans over to whisper to the others, "Does anyone else see the lookout watching us from that store?"
  68. [20:11:55] Shimmershy looks up in that direction and frowns with a slight hiss. "Prisoners? Or refugees...?" She furrowed her brows, looking towards Swamp Shadow. "Are we out of the raider's area?"
  69. [20:12:14] Night_Wind blinks. "Oh, she just ducked out of sight."
  70. [20:13:58] Edna_Stonetalon "Wander you getting any red on that EFS?"
  71. [20:14:39] Wanderlust shakes his head. "None yet, I'll keep an eye on it though."
  72. [20:15:20] Edna_Stonetalon keeps her rifle at the ready "Fumbles up front, stay ready with your shield"
  73. [20:15:22] Swamp_Shadow "This area's kinda no pony's land."
  74. [20:16:08] Edna_Stonetalon stops and facetalons "You didn't think to tell us that before we came here?"
  75. [20:16:55] Swamp_Shadow looks down at her metallic leg and sighs. "Ah was a little pre-occupied. Sorry. Pretty much no one has claim to this area, but everypony wants it."
  76. [20:16:58] Shimmershy snorts. "Then let's go say hello. They might know what's going on." She trots up towards the boarded up building and knocks on the door. "We're here to talk. Anypony awake in there?"
  77. [20:18:20] Night_Wind nods and takes point. "So we're in a contested zone. Lovely," she murmurs as she trots forwards with Shimmer, ready to engulf the disguised bug pony in her shield.
  78. [20:18:28] Edna_Stonetalon groans and follow Shimmer, rifle ready
  79. [20:19:07] Wanderlust gives Swampy a quick nuzzle before pulling his own rifle out and following.
  80. [20:19:45] Swamp_Shadow swallows hard and pulls out her crossbow, checking the bolt and string before shakily putting it in her mouth.
  81. [20:19:52] Somber When she knocks on the door, a stallion inside shouts, "Dear Luna, help me!" A mare shouts, "Shut up, you!" The door opens and two mares stepped out. They had their coats and manes the identical blue black. Armed with 10mm pistols, the mares looked at all of you coolly, but only frowned at Wanderlust. "What do you want?"
  82. [20:20:47] Night_Wind glances at Swampy asking, "These are the Nightmares you mentioned, right?"
  83. [20:21:10] Somber "Yeah, we're the nightmares. Who are you? What are you?" They ask a second later.
  84. [20:21:33] Swamp_Shadow sighs with relief. "Yeah, they're Nightmares. We don't mean y'all any harm, we're just trying to cross the territory and get back to Olives."
  85. [20:22:00] Shimmershy frowns at the call from inside, glancing between the two ponies. "Well I suppose that depends on what you're doing, doesn't it? We passed by something back there which looked pretty horrific. Thought maybe you'd want to hear about it. Someone took the time to kill somepony really thoroughly and nail them to a wall. Carved words into their skin. Takes dedication. Crazy pony

  87. [20:22:48] Edna_Stonetalon "Got anything... interesting going on in there?"
  88. [20:24:44] Somber "Must be some psycho Bronco," the mares said and then turned her head. "Will two you hurry up with the babies? Honestly!" she snapped into the store. She then coolly eyes Wanderlust, a slow smile crossing her face. "Nice buck. Can I rent him? Hundred caps." She said with an easy grin. "Won't be twenty minutes."
  89. [20:24:49] Night_Wind raises an eyebrow at the mares. The two of them don't look particularly tough, but if there are enough of them... Besides, she had to give them credit for the dye job - very nicely done for the wasteland. For now though she lets the talkier ponies talk.
  90. [20:26:17] Somber They then looked at Edna. "Just got some sisters who are getting some kids, with any luck."
  91. [20:26:18] Swamp_Shadow steps in front of Wander, her left eye flaring blue, "Sorry. He's taken."
  92. [20:27:13] Somber "That's why I said rent instead of buy. Couldn't afford him." she said with a small shrug.
  93. [20:27:19] Shimmershy frowns and just sortof looks at the two of them skeptically. "He's not for sale, or rent. And I don't know. Do Broncos make a habit of killing bucks?" She frowned and glanced back down the street, then back to these two, a smirk crossing her face. "Sounds like your 'partner' doesn't have much in the way of consent."
  94. [20:27:43] Wanderlust gulps and moves behind Swampy.
  95. [20:28:29] Somber "He's got an erection. That's consent enough for us." She said with a narrowing of her eyes. "Not going to make it a problem, are ya?"
  96. [20:28:30] Night_Wind tilts her head murmuring to herself, "At least they're honest. 100 caps is about right for an hour...er, not that I would have any reason to know that..." She looks around hoping the others didn't hear.

  116. [20:49:46] Swamp_Shadow whips her head around at Shimmershy, dumbstruck that she actually ordered an attack, before realizing that combat was beginning and dives for cover.

  121. [21:26:55] Swamp_Shadow is taken by surprise by the turn of events, but quickly takes a shot, reloads, and takes another shot, hoping her bolts will take down one of the two.

If we supply another stallion to replace him, you let him go right now, with all his things. As much time with the stallion as you want, free of other charges. Does that sound reasonable to you?" She looks up with a serious expression.
  127. [21:31:34] Swamp_Shadow blinks. "What the hell was that?" she asks, trying to figure out what she just saw. That was new.
  128. [21:31:53] Somber She suddenly looks suspicious. "Well... is the stallion him?" she asked pointedly, pointing a hoof at him.

She looks back towards Wanderlust. "But it'll probably take some convincing to make him agree to it. So we'll need a little while alone before we make the deal.   134. [21:35:31] Shimmershy frowns and contemplates that. "And the other stallion goes free..?" She looks up to the mare knowingly.
  135. [21:36:30] Somber "Sure. He's a trade up," she says with a nicker.
  136. [21:37:14] Swamp_Shadow looks from Shimmershy to Wander and remembers the vision she just had. "Shimmer..."
  137. [21:37:16] Wanderlust blinks. "W-Wait a second! We have important things to do."

  139. [21:38:02] Shimmershy nods her head. "Deal." She turns and walks past Wander, raising a forehoof to drag him with towards a nearby building, angling to head around behind it. "He'll be back out just as soon as we've had a little chat."
  140. [21:38:28] Night_Wind speaks up asking, "Just a moment. I am curious, this stallion, is he a ganger or just someone who wandered someplace he didn't belong?"
  141. [21:38:42] Wanderlust whines as he's dragged off, wondering what crazy plan is brewing in her head.

  146. [21:41:11] Wanderlust squirms out from Shimmer's grasp as he sees Swampy fall and hurries back to her, helping her to her hooves before walking her around behind the building.
  147. [21:41:13] Swamp_Shadow "Shimmer..." she says, trying to get back to her hooves and stumbling over to them. "Please tell me this is some plan and you're not giving my coltfriend to be raped before Ah even get a chance to get to third base with him!"
  148. [21:41:48] Shimmershy lowers her voice as she looks up to Edna. "Just trust me." She guides Wanderlust back behind the building and lowers her voice. "Just stay here and keep quiet, okay? When she was certain they were far enough not to be seen she raised her head, brilliant blood-red flames, a dramatic change from the prior silver-blue ones,

  160. [21:51:45] Somber They look him up and down and then nod into the store. Once he's in, a far less splendid looking, but quite traumatized stallion emerges. He looks quite shaken, battered, and humiliated, but he's alive. The green stallion starts limping away, muttering something about getting home.

The mares were all it reinforced leather and with some heavier weapons than other wastelanders they've encountered. The five ride off to the south. The green stallion flinches at the sound of their harsh laughter.
