  1. [20:52] <RickDominated> The Briefing Room on the In Defiance of Heaven is a familar, if somewhat annoyingly so, retreat for the pilots on duty as they file in, Bowman already there and utterly scowling at the projection of Levina.

  3. [20:57] * Tovia-094T says nothing as she leans back in her seat, watching the holotank coolly, utterly impassive.
  4. [21:00] * Osmond-S343 took a seat next to Tovia.
  5. [21:00] <Osmond-S343> "And, where is everyone else?
  6. [21:02] <Tovia-094T> "I don't have the slightest clue," the girl says, shrugging her shoulders. "...that's probably why the Specialist is in such a foul mood," she tells Osmond quietly.
  7. [21:05] <RickDominated> "...Thats part of it, at least." She kicks the Holotank next to her, causing the AI to make a surprised sound and fizzle for a moment. "Its just that ONI has dropped the ball for us... Angel has been on the ground on Kalis for almost 35 Hours now... And we've just heard about it."
  8. [21:07] <Osmond-S343> "That's a major break in communications...Do they have any clue of the on ground situation?"
  9. [21:07] <Tovia-094T> "...that's nearly a day and a half. Are there even any survivors at this point?" Tovia asks, her voice almost eeriely calm.
  10. [21:10] <RickDominated> "Isn't much there...but it hit a major population center all the same." Her eyes narrow. "Not much left."
  11. [21:12] <Osmond-S343> "Asking this is a joke at this point, do we have anything on it?" Osmond waved a hand at this.
  12. [21:14] * Tovia-094T closes her eyes. "They seem much more openly hostile now..."
  13. [21:16] <Osmond-S343> "They have been taking losses."
  14. [21:17] <RickDominated> "Surprisingly... We have a pretty fair deal." She shrugs, the screen changing to display the image of it, Another of the Heavilly built almost ape like ones. "Its...not all that impressive, as they go." She shrugs. "No visable core... No Ranged Attacks shown beside the AT Wave and Rising Cross..."
  15. [21:17] * Tovia-094T opens her eyes again, looking straight at Bowman. "You bring up a good point...and I suppose this is as good a time as ever to ask..."
  16. [21:20] <Tovia-094T> "...what exactly is the pattern to the Angel attacks that you've mentioned before?"
  17. [21:23] <RickDominated> "...They're getting closer to the core colonies. Appearing more often near them, less often around the Sangheli Border Marches.
  18. [21:23] <Osmond-S343> "We caught their attention."
  19. [21:24] <Osmond-S343> "But, have any of their attacks caused either infrastructural or resource loss for the UNSC?"
  20. [21:25] <RickDominated> "Aside from Bariels...no, not really." She shakes her head. "Its...been very odd."
  21. [21:25] <Tovia-094T> "Either that, or the core colonies have been their objective all--" she breaks off suddenly, frowning. "...no Angel has ever attacked the Earth directly, has it?"
  22. [21:26] <RickDominated> "No. Nor Sanghelios."
  23. [21:27] <Osmond-S343> "Earth's defense grid would tear even an Angel apart....could we get a map of every angel attack?"
  24. [21:27] * Tovia-094T stays quiet for quite some time, apparently deep in thought.
  25. [21:28] <Tovia-094T> "...maybe damage isn't their real objective..." she murmurs at last, putting a finger to her lips.
  26. [21:31] <RickDominated> The Starmap shifts, showing the sphre of Human Colonies... and the shallow spiral of Connected Angel Attacks.
  27. [21:32] * Tovia-094T 's eyes widen slightly. "Of course...they're searching for something, aren't they..."
  28. [21:32] <Osmond-S343> "They're spiraling closer to earth...almost like..."
  29. [21:35] <RickDominated> "We dont' know...honestly." She sighs. "That, and this isnt the only bad news happening, of course."

  32. [21:36] <Tovia_> "And Reach--" something in Tovia's voice shifts; not timbre or pitch, but something more...fundamental.

  40. [21:41] <RickDominated> Bowman blinks. "...Thats...something we honestly haven't thought of, the Angels have attacked a good number of worlds that had been Glassed in the War..."
  41. [21:42] <Osmond-S343> "Could be just coincidence?"
  42. [21:44] <Tovia-094T> "Perhaps, perhaps not." Confused memories flitted through her head. The girl laughing, playing with her friends. The black-suited men, seen through the delirium of illness. Mother. Father. Father...
  43. [21:49] <RickDominated> "Maybe, Osmond...regardless. Angels aren't the only thing nipping at our heels again.?"
  44. [21:50] <Osmond-S343> "The splintered loyalists?"
  45. [21:50] * Tovia-094T 's eyes seem to darken. "I don't think that's what she means..."
  46. [21:52] <RickDominated> "Them to, Hate has been raiding various Outer Colonies at his leisure, and the Hierarchy or UNSC can't spare the resources to root him out...and its led to some...discontent."
  47. [21:53] <RickDominated> *Wrath
  48. [21:54] <Osmond-S343> "That isn't our problem." Osmond secretly patted Tovia's hand when the specialist had her eyes away. Oh here she goes again....
  49. [21:55] <RickDominated> "No, but its the UNSC's problem...which they might MAKE ours." Bowman says quietly.
  50. [21:57] <Osmond-S343> "Wonderful..."
  51. [21:57] * Tovia-094T grimaces, though she runs her own hand over Osmond's. "They've picked a fine time to start stirring up trouble...suicidal idiots..."
  52. [22:03] <RickDominated> "But for now...we have our Angel Problem here."
  53. [22:04] <Tovia-094T> The rusty-eyed pilot nods stiffly. "How soon will we be deploying?"
  54. [22:06] <RickDominated> "Twenty Three Hours in Slipspace." She shakes her head. "Jump is already being plotted."
  55. [22:08] * Osmond-S343 nodded
  56. [22:12] * Tovia-094T stands up, still holding onto Osmond's hand. "Out of curiosity...will my new armor be ready by that time?"
  57. [22:15] <RickDominated> "Yeah, we're putting the final touches on it now."
  58. [22:18] * Tovia-094T nods. "Thank you."
  59. [22:21] <Osmond-S343> "Getting new armor?"
  60. [22:22] <Tovia-094T> "Yes...it's supposed to moderate my synch ratio," Tovia explains. "Apparently it's been spiking lately."
  61. [22:24] <Osmond-S343> "Oh." Osmond gave a single nod."Is that all, Specialist?"
  62. [22:24] <RickDominated> "Pretty much..." She looks back towards the slow moving Angel. "We'll have another make up session before we drop."
  63. [22:25] <Tovia-094T> "Understood, ma'am."
  64. [22:25] <Osmond-S343> "Yes M'am."
