Q: What are you playing on, it is emulator?
A: No, I'm playing on a new3DSXL using software purchased from https://www.merki.net or ill use DS (phat) with a capture board installed from http://3dscapture.com/ds/

Q: Why not run with manipulation?
A: Manip in HGSS is really frustrating for me, as it requires perfect movement for an hour. Plus I would like to play the game the Classic route, there has also been category extensions added to src for gens 3-7 https://www.speedrun.com/pkmngen4ext#Manipless_HeartGoldSoulSilver

Q: What minimum stats are your going for?
A: Any Cynda is runnable but Ideally 10 Attack, 12 Special Attack and 10 Speed or better

Q: What is the bug catching contest ?
A:  Trainers must catch the single best Bug-type Pokémon they can find and they are only allowed to use a single Pokémon from their party. The rest of a Trainer's Pokémon and all of their items remain with the contest officials until the competition is over.

Q: Q: Why do you choose Cyndaquil?
A: Because the Cyndaquil evolution family is the best for the speedrun.

Q: Why do you play as the girl?
A: The counterpart does the catching tutorial, and the male does it faster, so it’s faster to choose the female for yourself

Q: Why do you name yourself and Cyndaquil one character?
A: Because it's faster to name them one character for text purposes.

Q: Are there glitches in this run?
A: There are glitches in this game, but this is a glitchless run.

Q: What other pokemon do you catch/use?
A: Just Cyndaquil and quailava for this run as its only up to national park, I will try and catch a pinsir or scyther in the contest also (both 5%) or butterfree/beedrill (5%) or Venonat and Paras at high level (10% each) but I would prefer scyther or pinsir.

Q: Why not weaken the pokemon you try and catch at the contest?
A: You get more points for the more health/HP your caught pokemon has

Q: How does the scoring work?
A:The score earned for a given Pokémon in Gen 4 is the sum of the following:
The level of the Pokémon relative to the maximum that can be found in the contest (e.g. before the National Pokédex, the maximum value for Paras would be 17, but after the National Pokédex, this would be 34), as a percentage
The Pokémon's IVs relative to the maximum (186), as a percentage
The Pokémon's HP relative to its maximum, as a percentage
A rarity factor, either 60 (Caterpie, Metapod, Weedle, Kakuna, Wurmple, Silcoon, Cascoon, or Kricketot), 80 (all Pokémon not mentioned), or 100 (Scyther or Pinsir)
Therefore, the maximum possible score in this version of the contest is 400, achieved by catching Scyther or Pinsir at either level 14 or 28 (whichever is available), with maximum IVs in every stat, and without dealing any damage to it.

Q: What is a "spinner"?
A: A spinner is a trainer that randomly looks in each direction.  These spinning trainers cost precious time on account of extra time battling.
