So It was a new world, the last one was a little rough. We had a lot of new people with us. I figured it was time for a vacation Jump. No god damn drawbacks this time!  Just a place where we could relax, enjoy the setting and train and prep for the next world…

However in this world I encountered something I hadn’t expected. I did not have my companies, I tried one of the gold bars I keep in my warehouse and they said it looked neat. They would give me a few seashells for it. That’s not fair… There was supposed to be no drawbacks!

So yeah I was kind of broke here. What’s worse is apparently we lost the ability to speak and read English. That hurts because I have lots of computer stuff storing information and robots and stuff that I could use here but you have to be able to speak to them to use them. Lovely Inherent Drawbacks… crap.

It’s been a while since I was completely blind sighted by something. That part kind of sucked.

It’s not to say I had nothing but I would have to work hard to provide for us if we wanted to do anything besides lounge on the beach, party and train. Admittedly those were the main things I was planning but I guess somewhere along the way I had gained some pride. Which is strange for me but I was proud of the wealth I had attained. Being broke wasn’t acceptable to me.

Well in this world apparently humans were gone, replaced by people with animal ears and tails and the world had become a tropical paradise after the water level had raised a bunch.

I was a merchant working at my parents shop, the rest of my companions were sort of beach bums. They worked when they had to but hadn’t achieved much in life. It was a strange position for some of them like Akiha who is a go getter. In fact Akiha had a problem with this world as it seemed to be one without drive where people were content. I guess that’s the downside of living in paradise.

Many of my companions were filled with wonder at this new world. Especially the new ones like Arcueid. Maybe it was worth having them just so that I could see jumping itself through fresh eyes.

My Sister’s Akiha and Miyuki were my sisters in this world (Akiha was adopted). They helped out at the shop. Akiha seemed to have a little trouble adjusting to not being of the upper class. Miyuki was just happy to be hanging out with me and spending time with me. Hisui and Kohaku also helped out at the shop even though they were no longer maids.

Nekochan saw no problem with our current situation as she was more than happy to join the party life. She quickly took up surfing on Reydudes (mutated manta rays). She said the place reminded her just a bit of Alola in pokemon. To my chagrin Miyuki too seemed to enjoy the nightlife. She had a number of boyfriends a few at the same time at one point (I teased her about that) one was serious and I was actually concerned about her maybe leaving or having to convince some guy to take a trip through the multiverse. Things however didn’t last between them. I felt bad that it had fallen through but also relieved that she wouldn’t be leaving or I would have to deal with taking care of a normal guy with no real skills on our Journey . Also she demanded the same blessing Akiha had gotten in the last world. She was already breathtaking but became even more popular.

I was not satisfied with the current situation so I did two things first I started crafting minor magical luck charms that I could make hundreds in a day. The trick was they actually worked. I also put in a call that I took broken Shinies (or human tech) as payment depending on what it was.

People brought in a lot of plain trash of course. Some stuff was able to be repurposed. Some stuff I explained was actually trash.    However amongst the crap I would find some actual treasures that I could repair and sell.

The luck charms sold slowly at first as they were curiosities… then they started selling like hot cakes because people figured out they were working. They sold so well in fact that people started to come from other settlements for them. Which was good because for those treasures I was able to repair most of them were too high end to barter in this settlement. It was a good business. I was able to buy my parents out as they had plenty to retire at that point.

However, all of this was time consuming and by this time Nekochan was getting bored. Nekochan was the one who practically dragged me out of my shop saying “Let’s go Shiny hunting.”

Hunting for lost human technology or Shiny hunting as it was called was a little dangerous, which concerned me. Not that I needed to worry with my magic and abilities even if we stumbled on to a Kraken it would just mean Calamari for years for us but we had newbies to deal with who weren’t that well trained.

Maybe I was a bit bored too because not long after that we found ourselves in boats ready to dive down deep into the ocean.

We had equipment for it but I cheated with magic because what’s the point of having magic if you don’t so we were able to go down deeper so deep you would need a submarine.

It was expensive and unlike in other worlds I didn’t have that kind of cash to blow without some return.

At first we found nothing of note. We scoured the remains of a couple of skyscrapers. And found nothing… then I found a keypad and a heavy duty door that looked like it was supposed to be hidden.

Yeah we had found an illegal weapons and robotics research place. I can only say that because of the number of guard robots and the fact they were trying to kill instead of capture. Anyways we captured the facility. I still couldn’t read the data off the computers much to my chagrin but the haul was too big for one trip it took several trips. The upshot due to the money I made off of selling that stuff I now own my own Island as well as a chain of shops to sell to the locals because this place has no monopoly laws.

Other than that things were pretty quiet honestly a lot of lounging around, training, crafting and just spending time with my companions… Or you know, a vacation; as I had intended.
