How to Lumen
------------

This paste details four things:
* How to choose a magic tutor.
* Opportunities to get your crystal.
* How to get Lumen to aid in the magic ritual you can attempt the day before the naval battle.
* How to recruit people into your Lumen Circle for the preemptive magic strike you can do before the naval battle.

Choice of Tutor
---------------

You must have a magic tutor to become a Lumen, as your tutor will teach you where your crystal is and how to activate it.

-Julianna-
If you let her stay when she visits during Week 2, she becomes your tutor automatically.  She can also become your tutor if you free her at any point during a dungeon visit after imprisoning her.  If you get to Week 6 without freeing Julianna, you get one last chance: Selene will actively request that you free her.

-Selene-
If you sent Julianna away when she visited during Week 2 (you didn't let her stay, *or* put her in the dungeon, so she *can't* become your tutor), then during Week 6, Selene will offer to be your tutor instead; just take her up on it.

NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TUTOR BY THE END OF WEEK 6, ELODIE CANNOT BECOME A LUMEN.
(She will not be able to learn where her crystal is and/or or how to activate it.)

Opportunities to Get Your Crystal
---------------------------------

You must acquire your crystal to become a Lumen.  Once you have it, take it to your tutor to learn how to activate it and actually become a Lumen.

Raiding the Treasury for your crystal is an option so long as Elodie has a tutor, and knows that's where it is.  She must have Accounting 60+ or Presence 70+ to get past the guards.

-Week 7-
The soonest Elodie can possibly become a Lumen is Week 7.  To do this:
> Let Julianna stay when she visits on Week 2.
> Talk to Julianna during Week 2 to learn more about magic.
> Talk to Julianna during Week 3 to learn who Elodie can speak to about getting her crystal.
> Talk to Elodie's father during Week 4 after having the above two conversations with Julianna to be denied your crystal.
> Talk to Julianna during Week 5 to learn your options for getting your crystal, and choose "I'll try to find a way."  This enables her to attempt to raid the Treasury starting next week.  (See checks above.)
[Note: If you choose "What drastic action?" instead, it opens up the possibility to have Julianna handle the guards as of Week 18.]
> If Elodie's Accounting is 60+ by Week 6, she can raid the Treasury to acquire her crystal.
> Now that she's in possession of her crystal, have Elodie take it to her tutor during week 7, and she will learn how to activate it.  You'll be asked if you want to actually do it; say Yes, and Elodie will activate her crystal and become a Lumen.

-Week 9-
If Selene is your tutor, and Elodie knows her dad is keeping her crystal from her, Selene will offer to take care of the guards FOR you at this point.

-Week 16-
If you'd chosen not to become a Lumen so far, and have not been attacked by any assassins, then after you plant the tree, salt water bubbles up from the spot, which is an omen; if you choose to visit whomever your magic tutor is this week, they will offer Elodie her crystal.

-Week 18-
If you *still* aren't a Lumen, but have a magic tutor, they'll offer to handle the guards FOR you at this point.  (This is a second chance from Selene if you turned her down in Week 9, or Julianna if you chose to wait for drastic action in the previous conversation.)

Ritual Aid
----------

You can obtain aid for Week 34's magic ritual, should you decide to go through with it.  It requires at least 3 Lumen total.

-Selene-
Selene will suggest and help with the ritual if you have a party of at least 3 Lumen, so long as Elodie has a perfect score of 100 in Foreign Intelligence and understands the full gravity of the threat her enemies pose.

-Julianna-
Julianna will suggest and help with the ritual if she's Elodie's tutor.  Otherwise, you can call on her with Selene as your tutor if you don't already have enough Lumen to complete the ritual.

-Lucille-
If you hired her as Lumen Minister in Week 17, she'll aid you in the magic ritual regardless of who your tutor is.

Adding Lumen to your Circle
---------------------------

You must have a circle of at least 3 Lumen (Elodie included) to perform a preemptive magic strike during Week 35.

-By Week 6-
Whomever your tutor is (Julianna or Selene) will automatically be part of your circle for the magic strike in Week 35.  [This puts your circle at 2 Lumen.]

-Julianna-
{I have no information on whether Julianna can be recruited separately if Selene is your tutor, but all indications seem to point at "no" being the answer, which is strange, since Julianna can be summoned for the ritual.}

-Selene (Week 8)-
With Julianna as your tutor (meaning she's already part of your circle), you can Attend Service at any point Week 8 or afterward with Sense Magic 80+ to detect that Selene is a Lumen at the service; this will add Selene to your circle in Week 35.  [This puts your circle at 3 Lumen at the least.]

-Lucille (Week 17)-
Manage to offer Lucille a court position during the Grand Ball to add her to your circle in Week 35 (you must have Sense Magic 80+).
