06[23:59] * Officer walks into the room, tapping a small metallic object in his hand against the wall for attention. An olive green uniform identifies him as an SS man, he's of average height and wears a pair of round glasses.

06[23:59] * [Mry]Roxelana furrows her ears, swishes her tail and looks away.

06[00:01] * Officer first presents a military salute, then raises his right forearm in the smaller version of the official greeting.

[00:02] <Officer> So you're the two new arrivals?

[00:04] <Officer> Good, good. I'll be your formal commanding officer and lifeline, you are to refer to me as Hausefalle. What are your names?
[00:07] <[ki]Florence> Sergeant major Florence Bishop, sir. Transferred from Great Britain.
[00:07] <[Mry]Roxelana> Roxelana Marco, from the Fachshund unit, sir!
[00:09] <Hausefalle> Good, good. Well, you likely haven't heard much so I'll tell you why you're here.

[00:13] <Hausefalle> The offensive against the Bolsheviks is going to start again soon, and it has been decided that we need units for... certain kinds of operations. Reconnaissance, sabotage, even regular combat- we've been raising specific squads for these and other lines of duty and you will comprise one. Operations will start soon, but you should be able to become acquainted before then.

[00:14] <Hausefalle> Granted.
[00:14] <[ki]Florence> By small you mean.... how small, exactly?
[00:14] <[ki]Florence> Unit size that is.
[00:16] <Hausefalle> About half the size of a squad, perhaps a quarter of a small platoon.
[00:16] <Hausefalle> Besides your field commander, there should be you and... one other. Excluding later reorganizations and transfers, of course.

[00:18] <Hausefalle> You will be stationed in barracks nearby, but expect to move often; until your first mission is assigned, there is little else to say about it. I'll introduce you to your commander in a minute.
[00:19] <Hausefalle> Incidentally, have you been told anything about this individual?
[00:19] <[Mry]Roxelana> No.
06[00:19] * [Mry]Roxelana . o ( At least, I don't think so...

[00:23] <Hausefalle> Well, I suppose it's best you know a few things beforehand. The unit is being placed under the command of a Panzer SS officer, an Austrian. Worked in the SS Leibstandarte Albert Speer, which as the personal guard of the Fuhrer himself has seen action in nearly all operations up until this point. Holds the rank of Sturmscharfuhrer, a noncom.

[00:24] <Hausefalle> You are to refer to the officer as Schatzkammer. Come, I'll introduce you.
06[00:24] * [Mry]Roxelana is still clueless, but she doesn't mention that.

06[00:25] * Hausefalle starts to walk out, gesturing the two to follow.
06[00:25] * [ki]Florence does follow as instructed.
[00:26] <[GM]Wardenclyffe> [Hausefalle takes you out nearby, walking past the barracks. It's cold out, but it's tolerable with a light coat. He stops in front of a Kubelwagen, which is apparently empty.]
[00:28] <Hausefalle> ...Schatzkammer?
06[00:28] * [ki]Florence puffs smoke.
06[00:28] * Hausefalle looks around, before taking a look inside. He quickly turns unamused.
[00:29] <[Mry]Roxelana> ?
[00:30] <[ki]Florence> Something amiss, Herr Housfalle?
06[00:31] * Hausefalle gives the Kubelwagen a forceful kick, causing the car to rock. There are some sounds from something in the trunk, but otherwise it doesn't respond for a few seconds.
06[00:32] * Schatzkammer is abruptly woken up by the movement, slowly sitting up and regarding the new arrivals with bleary, unfocused eyes.
06[00:33] * [ki]Florence is looking back and forth between Roxelana, Hausefalle, and the guy.
06[00:33] * Schatzkammer is a girl with long silver hair and deep blue eyes, of noticeably short stature, who wears an anachronistic all-black uniform from the early thirties. She slowly brings up an arm but it hesitates as though she's trying to decide whether to give a military salute, a party salute or a handshake.
06[00:34] * [ki]Florence o 0 ( A girl? That was unexpected.)
01[00:35] <Schatzkammer> ...Mmngh... How do y-YAH!
06[00:35] * Schatzkammer , advancing carelessly while talking, stumbles over the side of the car and falls on the ground, flat on her face.

06[00:36] * [ki]Florence rush in to help her up.
[00:36] <[Mry]Roxelana> Oh, my!
06[00:36] * Hausefalle holds his head in his hands, mumbling something under his breath.
06[00:36] * [Mry]Roxelana rushes to help her up.
[00:36] <[ki]Florence> Are you okay, lass?
06[00:37] * Schatzkammer gets up, and stumbles but manages to keep her footing.
01[00:37] <Schatzkammer> Mornin'- wait. What time is it?
[00:37] <Hausefalle> 15...How did this girl get into the SS...?
06[00:39] * [Mry]Roxelana checks her watch, and sounds off the time.
[00:39] <[Mry]Roxelana> Twelve thirty-seven, sir! I mean, ma'am!
06[00:40] * [Mry]Roxelana hasn't winded her watch in days
06[00:41] * Schatzkammer shakes her heat to clear it. After two or three cycles she looks up at the group with a sort of childish curiosity, her peaked cap askew on her head.

[00:41] <[ki]Florence> one and a quarter, actually.
06[00:42] * Schatzkammer takes a second to adjust her cap, taking both of her arms above her head and pushing back to its proper position with her palms.
[00:42] <[Mry]Roxelana> Huh? Really?
06[00:42] * [Mry]Roxelana listens to her watch. Sounds like it's going tick-tick to me!
01[00:44] <Schatzkammer> Hausefalle, who are these?
[00:44] <Hausefalle> They're your new squad. You were told they'd arrive today.
06[00:44] * Schatzkammer rubs one of her eyes.
01[00:45] <Schatzkammer> Mm, that so. Alright, names!
06[00:46] * [Mry]Roxelana is getting tired of introducing herself so much

06[00:47] * [ki]Florence can introduce herself multiple times a day. Englishmen and social meeting goes together.

06[00:48] * Schatzkammer nods approvingly. Her mood seems to get better as she wakes up.
01[00:49] <Schatzkammer> Well, I hope to get along with you. Good thing we're getting out of the rear areas, it's boring back here.
[00:50] <Hausefalle> I just did a tour of the front myself; don't know if I would want to be there with the next attack, though...
[00:50] <[ki]Florence> is it that messy, sah?

[00:51] <Hausefalle> It'll get worse, maybe worse than last year. The Bolsheviks are expected to fall into their death throes, so who knows what'll happen.
01[00:52] <Schatzkammer> At least you get to deal with professional forces! I have to put up with snotty little partisans that would get ratted out by local volunteers anyway.
06[00:53] * Schatzkammer puts her fists on her hips, puffing out her cheeks. She quickly turns to a more casual disposition, though.
06[00:53] * [ki]Florence stand up and look down at Schatzkammer. She's so....small.
01[00:54] <Schatzkammer> But I found the perfect answer for that. Generally now I just snatch 'em up and spit 'em out in the new gulag museums! They shut up so quick!
[00:55] <[GM]Wardenclyffe> [Some banging and muffled yelling comes from the trunk of the car.]
06[00:56] * Schatzkammer 's eyes widen in surprise for a second, but she's amused again in a split second.
01[00:56] <Schatzkammer> Whoop, looks like I forgot one! Eh, he'll be fine for at least a week.
06[00:56] * Schatzkammer shrugs.
06[00:57] * [Mry]Roxelana isn't sure what to think of all this. The military sure is silly.
[00:57] <[ki]Florence> and you are going to leave him like that, herr Schatzkammer?
06[00:57] * [ki]Florence points!
01[01:02] <Schatzkammer> Until I figure out what else to do with him, sure. What else? Maybe I should... er... throw him in...? Um...
06[01:03] * Schatzkammer turns very serious and pensive, holding her chin in one hand and narrowing one of her eyes.

01[01:08] <Schatzkammer> But partisans make for bad assistants... Er...

06[01:09] * Hausefalle clears his throat.

06[01:33] * Hausefalle salutes before turning and walking off. He grabs a folder of papers from inside the car, opening it and reading the contents as he goes.

01[01:42] <Schatzkammer> Actually, since a short while after the Anschluss... I've been in active service, mostly, since the Polish campaign. How that came to be, and the nature of my... physique, are much longer stories.
