Clippy Boots FAQ

Q: What is Clippy Boots?
A: Fancier name for "Ultra Boots w/out Ultra Hammer" it is called this b/c you use the trick clippy to get the ultra boots. Clippy is a trick where you ride lakilester into battle and open a menu as a battle is starting, after the battle you switch partners to become "clippy" and can partially clip into things. It also has a side effect of making you teleport to laki's height when you use him.

Q: How does this save time and how much does it save?
A: It allows you to do a route where you do chapter 2 after chapter 5 which means you can access it from the sewers saving a lot of time on moving through mt. rugged. I estimate it saves like 3.5 min.

Q: Why don't you just go get the ultra boots while you have the ultra hammer?
A: This is a bit hard to answer but I will try my best. Basically you MUST do chapter 6, 7, and 8 together in that order in the end of the game in order to not lose loads of time. You can only access 7 after 6 unless you want to waste loads of time watching multiple peach cutscenes. Also once you start chapter 6 it must be finished; there is no way to retrigger chapter 6. So if I went to get the ultra boots while I have ultra hammer id still have to do chapter 2 afterwards, and going from chapter 2 to chapter 7 means I have to: Beat Chapter 5 again and do an extra peach warp that means watching chap 5 and 6 peach cutscenes AGAIN which is SLOW. Also getting the super hammer is pretty much required to beat chap 2, there is an alternative but its SLOW as it involves doing ch 2 almost as normal with using the pulse stone to open the ruins.
