- ASTANA. July 16 (Interfax) - Two Kazakh children, adopted by U.S. citizens, are listed among the children at the U.S. orphanage Ranch for Kids in Montana, Russian children's rights commissioner Pavel Astakhov said.
- "We have found two children from Kazakhstan on the lists of children from the ranch you are aware of," Astakhov said during the meeting with Kazakh Justice Minister Berik Imashev in Astana on Tuesday.
- One child is still at the ranch and the other one has been admitted to a psychiatric clinic but it is not known which one, Astakhov said.
- Astakhov said he intended to give the information on these two children to the Kazakh Prosecutor General's Office.
- It was reported that the Kazakh ministry of education of science sent a request to the U.S. embassy in Kazakhstan for information on the fate of the Kazakh children allegedly kept at the ranch in Montana.
- The ministry has said that Kazakhstan would not resume accepting adoption documents from U.S. citizens until it received relevant and accurate information.
