SSN History

On December 5, 2018 Snoop banned me from TSUKICHAT. That day, I started Toxspace, my own IRC. For a while it was bridged to Chill Zone (a Discord owned by Kneesox). The bridge went down in February 2019 when Kneesox left the Discord.

By the middle of 2019, TSUKICHAT was in crisis. While it was still up, nobody new had been let in since November 2018 and there were increasing complaints about the quality of the place as Cowtitties remained there. So Miniwa and Plastic (two guys in TSUKICHAT) decided to start their own chat system, called Miniwachat, running on Zulip. I was the third member.

Miniwa asked me for permission to bridge Toxspace to Miniwachat. I agreed and so Toxspace was bridged for a second time.

In July I went on vacation to the States and I created my own Discord (TSDE, Toxspace Discord Edition) to keep in touch with friends. As I was about to leave I realized that Discord was blocked in China and so I got Kneesox to bridge the Discord to Toxspace.

By the point I made it home we had realized Toxspace was now something more than just a portal to TSDE or Miniwachat. We decided to name it Systemspace Network, or SSN for short, because Kneesox already owned the domain systemspace.network.

I decided that SSN would need to be run by a council consisting of everyone who owned a node or a bridge between nodes. That meant Kneesox, Miniwa, and me, with of course room for expansion.

We didn't get around to formalizing this until September when I wrote a constitution for the SSN (https://pastebin.com/asjQmme4). We thought it would last for 5 years. Even so, I still said it was a "raggedy ass confederacy of fourth rate communities".

In October, Miniwa moved from Zulip to Matrix, and renamed the Matrix Miniwatrix. Around the same time, Popcorn was transgressed by Tsuki and relinquished control of Chill Zone to Kneesox. The end result of that was that we had a Matrix, a Zulip (disused), an IRC, and two Discords all bridged together. I looked to the new decade with optimism.

It was not to be. On December 17, 2019, the systemspace.link site went down. It has not been up since. I said something in Toxspace that people took to be defending Cowtitties. People were angry at me with good reason. I noticed that there was another channel in Miniwatrix. I joined it, said "hi", and was banned by Plastic.

Then followed a state of tension which was resolved on January 6, 2020 when we agreed to a constitution that would re-bridge our communities, and the new Matrix channel, together. This constitution was never implemented.
