» personality : A classic emo. Very introverted and has few social skills, which is because he never stayed in one place at a time to make real friends. He also is clumsy and has bad communication skills which makes it harder for him to quickly make friends. He listens to emo music, but secretly so his dad doesn't get mad at him. His dad has a problem with him being emo and often bullies him over it. He plays guitar and piano and sings, but only sings when he's alone. » background : His father is a military officer, so every two years he would move to different countries. He was born and lived in his fathers hometown of Busan for 3 years. He then moved to Okinawa, Japan for 4 years where he learned he loved art and took up karate. He made many friends here and when he moved to San Diego, California, leaving his friends behind was traumatising and he started to become more distant. In San Diego, he had fewer friends, he gave up karate and focused more in art. He then moved to London for 3 years and the bad weather and exposure to emo culture made him become more emo and by the time he moved to Sydney Australia for 2 years and Christchurch for 2 years he had become very split for society. He only came back to South Korea 6 months ago and has made a couple of friends. While in London he picked up piano and guitar, his father bullies him and they argue about once a night.

Father - Gim Hyeon. A stiff, disciplined 52 year old military officer. Has worked in the military since he was 20 and has become respected. He is usually at work but when he is home he bullies Cheol for not being an ideal man and being a "fag" and they have an uneasy relationship
Mother - Gim Ayame. A quiet 50 year old women from Osaka, Japan. She is a housewife and stays home most of the day. She suffers from minor depression and is an alcoholic. She turns a blind eye to hyeon bullying Cheol and mollycoddles him to make up for her guilt.
Sister - Gim Ara. A 14 year old social school girl. She participates in all sports, does what her dad says and is popular and has many friends. This causes Cheol to often be jealous of her, but she is still his closest family member. She is a shoulder to cry on and the only member of his family to support who he is.

» why they were sent to detention? : Cheol has had a bad relationship with his PE teacher, Mr Park, for talking back to the teacher and getting very low grades in all areas. One day during a swimming lesson, he refused to get into the pool and left the class. He was found later by miss Rhee who took him back to PE, where he was sent to detention

» least favourite class : PE. He is made fun of by the sporty boys in the year for lack of athleticism and his PE teacher turns a blind eye and finds reasons to get him in trouble.
