  1. To see the Aethera'ion (Alien Job 3)

  3. Fiction does not prepare you for reality. You watch science fiction movies, anime, read comic books, your whole life and never realize those things, even unintentionally mentally shrink things down. Makes it simpler, planets become islands of one culture, entire galaxies as a result are treated like seas; it really is just taking the old sailor adventure narratives and putting them in space without changing the scale. Aside from realistic depictions of space its that scope that doesn't translate well. Imagining characters blowing up planets, eating planets, living worlds, even the biggest cosmic character in a comic book doesn't FEEL like they are because of how much the rest of it feels scaled down. You arn't really grasping a feel for a vast infinite universe, multiple realities. Its hard to even describe reality. We now know about other worlds having life, but also other realities. We have contact with the Ki'ran, Ki'an'ta, and others; but I feel for most people the sheer scope of this never sets in. People still think of the universe the same way people used to think of the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean; just explaining that the Ki'ran worlds are as diverse as our own; or any other alien world is as big, complex, multiple cultures; it just seems to confuse people who for some reason really believed reality was going to be like sci-fi; that somehow our Earth was going to be the different one with more complexities, be bigger, and more important.

  5. To be honest there are still people who believe the whole humans are regarded as clever animals even with our trade and humans are raised as pets on some worlds is all either a hoax or those humans are going to rise up or we're going to overthrow these ancient galacti empires. I've seen it, as part of the trade regulation they didn't even try to hide it when we asked. We were straight up shown how they raised humans to be pets; I think they mainly showed us this out of concern for poachers given a recent incident. But to most anyone this would feel insanely insidious. Humans raised in (growth) chambers in a dream state that teaches basic social skills, survival skills, and imprints social development; but as a dream after they are woken up the surreal environment is quickly forgotten but the skills remain imprinted. The new "owners" get their human pets imprinted on them; and thanks to their medical technology these human "pets" can live from 150-500 years depending on I guess a bunch of environment, medical, and such factors; but the fact they consider that a short time frame of difference is more than a bit disturbing. As is that technology, programming behaviors via dreams where the dreams themselves fade away but the behavior remains intact. Sadly the media made a big deal of that for only like two months before everyone just moved on.
