  1. It had been an average shift on the ward when Sister Cebra had first seen the kid. Small, skinny, clothes tattered and burned, he walked in from the freezing night and into the soft glow of the Medicae building. An orphan, she thought, 16 or so. Lack of nutrition and the cold air already starting to turn his bald head the faintest purple. Bruises and scratches covering every visible inch of his skin. She rushed to his side, wrapped him in a blanket, and pulled him into one of the rooms. He was quiet, almost catatonic, his body barely responding to her touch as she checked his vitals. She tucked him into bed, rushing out of the room to fetch hot caffeine and an easily digestible nutrient bar.
  2. When she returned, he was sat straight up in bed, his dark eyes staring at her. She spoke to him, gently, explaining who she was and that she was trying to help. His eyes didn't move. She inched closer, holding her arm out, the nutrient bar unwrapped. She felt her heart pounding, although couldn't work out why. Just another traumatised kid, on a planet full of them. So why did he feel so alien?
  3. She moved, closer, and he darted towards her, his arms shooting out to grasp hers. She screamed, pulling back, but not before he grabbed the bar out of her hands and started stuffing it into his face. Just hungry. He was just hungry. She edged back to the bed, taking deep breaths.
  4. “Would you like-”
  5. Pain flashed like lightning, and the room went black. She sprawled on the floor, and everything tasted of blood. She tried to raise her head, tried to piece together what had happened. The room returned to focus, and she saw him, standing on the bed. She drew in a breath to scream.
  6. The creature moved with preternatural speed, diving from the bed and pinning her to the floor. One hand found her mouth and forced it closed. Another pawed at her chest, shredding the white bodysuit she wore when stationed here. She felt something else, grabbing her hips, a third arm tearing through her robe.
  7. Tears welled in here eyes as something pushed its way inside her, something vile, something alien. Sensations overwhelmed her; pleasure, pain, something more than both, but it slipped away and her mind fractured with it.
  8.
  9. Sister Cebra awoke to a new day, and a new mission. Her master was sleeping in the observation room, and something was growing inside her. But that wouldn't be enough. She had an entire ward of patients to see, to bring to Him. Her work was only beginning.
