PERSONALITY — Piper Byeon, the first and only daughter of Filipino scientist and Korean football manager. Known throughout the locals in Quezon City as the soft-spoken, polite young girl who retained the innocence of a newborn baby. And in a way, they were right — but also terribly wrong.
She’s an emotional person; adrenaline quick to mainline into her heart at the very mention of danger. Her feelings are often all over the place, but 26 years of practice proves worthy by managing to pack them all in to a box with a bow on top. She’s known for being loving, toward her family and friends, bordering on slightly creepy as her constant wishing for you to have the best hangs over your shoulders like an over-excited child. She’s intuitive, basing her feelings on what she feels to be true even without conscious reasoning. This causes her to show sharp powers of judgement in situations, earning her the title of shrewd among those who aren't so good with her.
Characterisation of Piper as protective are indeed true, but this usually stems from her caution not to run into situations she'll know will end badly. “Don't go into that forest!” she'll scream, being held back by her friends as she shouts after her boyfriend. The use of violence will often let her break free from her friend's grip and rescue the person in so-called “danger”. This is what encourages her sympathetic trait, as she will know what you've been through, most likely because she had to save someone from it.
However, she's also very changeable when it comes to emotions. Mood swings, if you will. She'll go from ecstatic to angry to bring full of regret, in a span of a minute. She's touchy, clingy, and when she finds a good person, she'll never dream of letting them go. She's unable to let go of things, dwelling on them irrationally and over-analysing, tearing herself apart with all the theories she has on why you don't want to be with her.
But I promise you'll like her. Innocent smiles upon a pretty face, hiding someone insecure.

BACKGROUND —
If Piper were asked to describe her childhood in general, she’d say it was fine. Her earliest memory was going to Disneyland aged 4, which always provides her with enough nostalgia to get on with things. She received full education, amidst the chaos, and graduated from high school 8 years ago, with a pat on the back and a bottle of vodka. For her, school was strictly academic, and she didn't let herself be distracted by relationships and all that jazz. Well, her parents sort of restricted her. They taught her self-defence, training her how to shoot at foxes in the farm she grew up in, and how to stab someone with a concealed penknife. They became instant role-models for her, which were important for someone who didn't know what was wrong versus right.
She became interested in the singing arts after she participated in the school talent show as a drummer in her band between friends. Piper decided to pursue a career as a trainee when visiting Seoul at the age of 13 as part of a student exchange, and her breath was taken away with the pure atmosphere of music. She was told a lot about it by her Korean exchange friend, and was instantly fascinated by the dancing and the visuals and the success these idols gained. She decided to try and learn a K-Pop dance for fun, with her exchange friend, and decided to dance for fun anyway as it made her really happy. She was advised to maybe become a professional dancer by her friends back in the Philippines, and realised the oppurtunities to make a living out of what makes her happy were endless at an entertainment company.
It was set. She auditioned for YG, armed only with the line, “If not with YG, not with anyone”. She wasn't exactly Miss Perfect in terms of looks then, and she feared it may be the only thing holding her back. She didn't look Korean, and YG wasn't known for accepting foreign trainees.
But, you know, it happened. I guess someone just said, this girl is what we're looking for. They were right about that.
WHAT DID THEY THINK? — In the words of Piper: “It's a bad idea. In no way is it a way of marketing. They're going to check the stocks, and they're going to be low. Nobody wants a sister group! I don't want a sister group! I swear, if I even smell that Hyunsucc dude down the hallway, I will COMPLAIN!”
