  1. >It's been nearly a week since you took Ralsei to the Dreamer Festival, now.
  2. >Nearly a week, but you still vividly remember that night.
  3. >It was probably the best you've had since falling in love with him.
  4. >Just thinking about the time you had together is enough for a dumb grin to pull at your lips.
  5. >You've actually been thinking about that night rather a lot, and not just because of the passion you shared.
  6. >You specifically remember something that Ralsei had mentioned, before the fireworks show.
  7. >”Do you think we could come here again someday? Like, just enjoy some time away from our home and sleep under the stars here in the forest? It's just so peaceful and wonderful…”
  8. >Not one to turn down a night out with your special gote, you began planning this night practically the next day.
  9. >Aside from that, though, even more interesting developments started happening since that night at the festival.
  10. >For one, Ralsei got a part-time job at Asgore's flower shop, and seemed to really be enjoying himself.
  11. >You're glad that he found something to take his mind off the loneliness while you're at work - video games and gardening can only do so much to distract him, as you well know.
  12. >Tonight, though, you would finally put into action what the both of you had been working so hard for that week.
  13. >As the clock strikes quittin' hour, you pull out your phone and immediately shoot a text to Ralsei.
  14. >"Off the clock now, you got all the stuff ready?"
  15. >"Of course! :)"
  16. >"Haha, cool. I'll wait for you to come pick me up, then. Love you <3"
  17. >"You too <3 <3"
  18. >It's such a simple exchange, but you can't help but smile regardless.
  19. >Sometimes you wonder just what you did in this life or a previous one to deserve such a loving person on your arm.
  20. >At any rate, you've got a good ten minutes to kill as you wait for Ralsei, so you go over and sit on one of the benches that surround your workplace's fountain.
  21. >As you pull out your phone to start faffing about with some idle game you downloaded, one of your coworkers walks up and plants himself in the seat beside you.
  22. >"Hey, Anon, aren't you usually drivin' home by now? Don't tell me you went and got that sweet car stolen already!"
  23. >You grin as you recognize the voice, chuckling and looking up at the bear-like monster beside you.
  24. >"Like I'd ever let anything happen to that Mercedes, Logan. You know as well as I do how upset Rals would be if I did."
  25. >"Haha, right, right. How is the little fluffball, anyway? He plannin' on bakin' any more'a those delicious cakes?"
  26. >You laugh along with him and shake your head.
  27. >"Yeah, but not for you."
  28. >Logan lets out a hearty guffaw, slapping your back with one of those meaty paws of his.
  29. >"He's doing rather well, though," you continue after recovering from the physical shock of the blow.
  30. >"Asgore's letting him work at the flower shop part time, and he's been getting some experience behind the wheel, too."
  31. >"Unfortunately, that means I get less time with the car, but I'd gladly let him have it if it means making him happy."
  32. >"Heh, you'd give that goat the world if you could, wouldn't you Anon?"
  33. >You smile at that and nod up to your work buddy. "Damn right."
  34. >Speak of the devil...
  35. >You see a familiar Mercedes roll up with the top back, and an even more familiar fluffy boy in the driver's seat.
  36. >"Welp, looks like that's your cue, my man."
  37. >You chuckle and stand up, bumping fists with Logan as you do so.
  38. >"See you after the weekend, Logan."
  39. >He waves dismissively at that, smirking at you.
  40. >"Have fun on your lil outin', Anon."
  41. >You nod back to him as you slide into the passenger seat, leaning over and smooching your prince in the process.
  42. >"An' tell yer boyfriend to make some more cakes for us!"
  43. >Ralsei blushes at that, but you see him smile proudly at the praise regardless.
  44. >"Yeah yeah, Logan. Don't hold your breath," you call back, causing Logan to laugh a bit more.
  45. >"Take care!" Ralsei speaks up as all of you wave goodbye to each other, before motoring off into the distance.
  46. >As Ralsei drives out into the countryside, you lean back a bit and wrap your arm around the driver's seat, idly gazing over at your lover.
  47. >Without the distraction of having to watch the road, you can finally just adore your fluffy prince in all of his glory.
  48. >Surprisingly, he's not wearing any of his wide-brimmed hats at the moment.
  49. >You suspect it's because he was worried it would blow off of his head with the top down.
  50. >You can't say you mind, especially when you get to see his fluffy ears flapping gently in the resulting wind.
  51. >It's clear he enjoys the sensation as well, else he'd have probably rolled the top back up.
  52. >After a while, Ralsei glances over at you and flusters a bit.
  53. >"W-what's wrong, Anon?"
  54. >"Nothing, just looking at you~"
  55. >Ralsei giggles and blushes, but doesn't seem to oppose it one bit.
  56. >"What if I need directions, Anon? You can't tell me where we're going if you're... staring at me the whole time."
  57. >You chuckle at that and move your hand to stroke one of his ears, a motion that elicits a small shiver from him.
  58. >"I trust your sense of direction, Ral-ral. Besides, if you get lost we can always just use the GPS."
  59. >Ralsei continues to get flustered under your affections and the nicknames, trying his best to keep his eyes on the road.
  60. >"Anooon, this isn't faair," he pouts playfully, "I wanna look at you too, you know?"
  61. >You snicker a bit, but all the same you feel a flutter in your heart as he says that.
  62. >Either way, you relent from teasing the poor gote too much, sitting back up in your chair so you can lean over and give him another little kiss on the cheek.
  63. >As the sun dips over the horizon, you flip your phone to some soft chillhop beats that begin playing through the car's stereo.
  64. >Honestly, just driving along with Ralsei under the setting sun is lovely enough.
  65. >You might have to go just cruising with your prince more often, but that's plans for the future.
  66. >After a while Ralsei successfully navigated to the campground, pulling into the simple gravel parking lot across from a couple of other cars.
  67. >Seems you weren't the only ones with the idea to camp out in the forest tonight, but that's okay.
  68. >There's plenty of space out in the woods for you and your lover to have some privacy anyway.
  69. >Before all that, though, you had to unpack.
  70. >You planned on spending the whole weekend out here with Ralsei, so you had packed a bit more than just camping essentials, which meant that you'd need to do a bit of lifting.
  71. >Ralsei carried what he could, while you put the rest on your back or in your arms.
  72. >Honestly, you probably could have just brought a wagon or cart, but you know how much Ralsei enjoys watching you lift.
  73. >One of the perks of your job was the resulting upper body strength it gave you, so you didn't mind it at all.
  74. >...That, and you'd be lying if you said the flustered look on Ralsei's face as he tried to hide how he was checking you out didn't give you a sense of satisfaction.
  75. >After you somehow manage to get everything out of the car, Ralsei puts the top back up and locks the car with a quick beep.
  76. >Wouldn't want Logan's prophecy to come true, after all.
  77. >As you carry all your shit into the forest, the uneven terrain combined with the sheer amount of stuff you're carrying starts to take its toll a bit.
  78. >"Anon, are you sure you don't want me to carry a bit more? This backpack doesn't even weigh all that much..."
  79. >You shake your head and lean against a nearby tree to catch your breath a bit.
  80. >"Nah... I'll be fine... We're almost there anyway... I've already gone halfway, I can go further."
  81. >Ralsei gives you a sympathetic smile, but in those eyes you can see a hint of adoration twinkling.
  82. >Totally worth the sore muscles you're going to have tomorrow.
  83. >After resting a bit, you push off from the tree with new resolve, hiking all the way into the woods without a second stop.
  84. >As you approach, you can hear the gentle burbling of the river beyond as water slaps against protruding rocks and logs.
  85. >Despite your machismo from before, you quickly set down all you're packing in the clearing and heave a sigh of relief.
  86. >You hear Ralsei giggle from behind you, and you look over your shoulder to stick your tongue out at him, only causing him to giggle harder.
  87. >"Anon, I said I could carry some more."
  88. >"And I said I'd be fine. Which I was. What I'm more interested in knowing is why you followed behind me despite carrying much less."
  89. >You place your hands on your hips and turn to face Ralsei fully, giving him a knowing smirk.
  90. >As expected, he blushes up a storm, stammering a bit as he tries to explain himself.
  91. >"W-well, you see, it was... was because I, uh, I d-didn't know where the campsite was! Yeah!"
  92. >You stride over to your love and boop him playfully on the snoot, causing him to fluster even more.
  93. >"A-Anooon, I swear it wasn't for... for anything else!"
  94. >"Like whaat~?"
  95. >"Like... Like staring at y- w-wait, hey!"
  96. >Ralsei puffs up his cheeks in mock indignation, but you both know exactly why he lagged behind.
  97. >Eventually you break out into hearty chuckles, and Ralsei follows suit shortly after with his own brand of bubbly giggles.
  98. >"You're a meanie," he teases, shoving your arm a bit as he enters the clearing proper.
  99. >"Oh, you love me," you tease back, earning you a stuck-out tongue in return.
  100. >"Guess we'd better set up camp, eh?" You suggest, digging into the pile of Stuff™ to find your tent roll.
  101. >Ralsei nods at that, setting down his own backpack and helping you dig through the pile to see what he could help with.
  102. >About an hour passes by, maybe longer, and the sun has very clearly gone under the horizon, leaving nothing but the dusky blue in its wake.
  103. >You were actually surprised Ralsei knew so much about setting up a campsite, but he was definitely of great help during the process.
  104. >Apparently he had read about camping in a book while he was in the Dark World, and had gone out into the fields to try it out every so often.
  105. >The thought of that kind of made you sad, but you remember that he's here with you now, so it doesn't linger for long.
  106. >"Damn, all that really worked up a sweat, huh?"
  107. >Ralsei chuckled a bit and nodded, and you could see some tufts of his fur were sticking out from his own sweat.
  108. >Of course, being a monster, he didn't perspire nearly as much as a human would, but to make up for it you could see and hear him panting a little.
  109. >"C'mon, we should wash up."
  110. >Ralsei's cheeks flush so hard at the suggestion you could swear they were glowing.
  111. >"Oh come on, we've already gone through all that already, Rals."
  112. >"W-well yeah, but..." Ralsei fidgeted nervously, and his blush only seemed to deepen.
  113. >You roll your eyes playfully at the bashful gote.
  114. >"Alright, alright, I'll just go on my own then, and you can bathe afterwards."
  115. >The prince seemed too caught up to speak, so he just nodded and smiled at you.
  116. >The water was refreshingly cool, but not cold enough to be uncomfortable despite how dark it was out now.
  117. >After dipping your head under and coming back up, the soft wind really enhanced that feeling as it blew through your soaked hair.
  118. >You can't say you've ever bathed in a river before, but after tonight you'd probably recommend it at least once.
  119. >After a while, you focus less on soaking the sweat off your body and more on just relaxing on the water.
  120. >Gazing up at the starry sky, you feel completely at peace with yourself and the world around you, and why shouldn't you be?
  121. >You had a decently-paying job that kept you in shape, a nice car, and a beautiful boyfriend who loved you unconditionally.
  122. >Truly, you've made it in life.
  123. >You close your eyes, and just let that feeling sink in for a moment, until you hear a rustle of leaves.
  124. >You squint an eye open slightly, but don't really look over. Probably just the wind blowing the trees.
  125. >A moment later, and you hear the telltale bloop of something entering the water.
  126. >Your eyes shoot open and you immediately shift to gain some footing in the water.
  127. >If you were going to be attacked then you would go down fighting.
  128. >Instead of a fight, however, all you got was a shared deer-in-the-headlights moment with a very embarrassed gote.
  129. >"Ralsei? I thought you wanted to wait until I was done."
  130. >"W-well, I was going to, but you were taking so long, so..."
  131. >...
  132. >You both clean yourselves up after your little escapade, and get dressed back up in some clothes you had Ralsei pack for the weekend.
  133. >As you come back to the campsite, you both settle in by the sputtering fire and just lie there, holding each other.
  134. >"Th-thank you..." comes the timid gote's voice, and as you look over at him you see he's already smiling softly.
  135. >"I... I never knew how... How nice it could feel to... To have a lover, before you," he admits, that blush creeping up into his cheeks again.
  136. >You smile softly at him as well, and lean down to smooch his fluffy forehead.
  137. >"Honestly, if you hadn't come into my life, I probably wouldn't have either," you admit in kind, causing him to look at you with surprise.
  138. >"W-what? You? But, you're so... Kind, and caring, and understanding, and you're always there when I need you, and you've got the most handsome smile, and you're so strong, and..."
  139. >Ralsei catches himself before he starts rambling off, the blush in his cheeks growing as he smiles bashfully at you.
  140. >God, this goat really knows how to melt your heart, doesn't he?
  141. >"Nah, I'm just a guy," you say, causing Ralsei to giggle a bit.
  142. >"But that's why I love you so much, Anon. You're not some puffed up, egocentric jerk. You're (You)."
  143. >Hearing Ralsei say that directly is enough to cause your own face to go hot, but you can't help but smile either way.
  144. >Your prince's kind words are rewarded by a soft, prolonged kiss to the forehead, eliciting a blushing smile from Ralsei as well.
  145. >Afterward, you point to the sky, through a parting in the canopy of trees above you.
  146. >"See that?" you ask, and Ralsei follows along, before you hear him gasp in awe.
  147. >"All the way out here, where there's none of the city lights, where the air is the cleanest - you can see the distant parts of our galaxy."
  148. >"Wow... Anon, that's so... It's so beautiful..!"
  149. >"Yeah, it really is," you say, before dropping back to look over at your fluffy boyfriend, eyes lidded from fatigue, "but not as beautiful as you, my Prince."
  150. >Ralsei suppresses another giggle and simply nuzzles into your embrace, letting out a contented sigh.
  151. >Soon the pair of you are drifting off to sleep, cradled in each other's arms as you always are, the tent all but forgotten.
