  1. The teaching of the Numinous demon mirror
  2.
  3.
  4. I am nothing and nothingness am I
  5. I am the vast one, the undying sky
  6. I know who I was before my father
  7. It was revealed to me by my father
  8. he is your I through other, your I twinned
  9. Who rides so late in the night and the wind
  10. to understand how I saw my own eye
  11. I must first hide, then reveal who i was
  12.
  13. in those days my grandfather would travel
  14. he would go alone, past street and gravel
  15. past the wild places where the mushrooms grow
  16. through the dark valleys where no man should go
  17. he would return home with his medicines
  18. and with stories of foreign denizens
  19. who in their lands practiced the ways of life.
  20. one day in our village was great strife
  21. a foreign shaman came seeking him out
  22. he said “in my mouth dwells He, in my mouth
  23. Dwells the God of knowledge, bring the wise man
  24. i will prove him a fool, i know i can “
  25.
  26. to prove his mind he revealed to them things
  27. their own names, when they would die, hidden springs
  28. the caverns hiding jades and cinnabar
  29.
  30. and how to guide their ships with the North Star
  31.
  32. for this they burnt incense to him, gave him
  33.
  34.
  35. the freshest peaches, chests filled to the brim
  36. with Gold and other treasures for a God
  37. when my grandfather returned from abroad
  38. the men came to him and begged him appear
  39. before the shaman, they left why unclear
  40.
  41. “tell him to come to my house at midnight”
  42. the shaman came and used his spirit sight
  43. he saw my grandfather as nearly dead
  44. “I will face him at his best, wrap a thread
  45. around his wrist and the sickness shall die”
  46. he spoke this to me “I shall explain why
  47. he could not read me, I am bland like dirt
  48. i showed him my face, when I was the Earth
  49.
  50.
  51. bring him here three hours past eleven
  52. i will be soil fertilized by heaven
  53. so it was and the shaman did return
  54. “something has changed, more life I now discern”
  55. my grandfather then told him to return
  56.
  57. at midday, “behold, you will not discern
  58. my nature” the shaman left and obeyed
  59. he returned but couldn’t see, he then prayed
  60. “God of my mind reveal him to my eyes”
  61. even this failed, he thought “ a god’s disguise
  62. this man must be” he spoke “i didn’t fast
  63. today, this is why I couldn’t see past
  64. your appearance” my grandfather then laughed
  65. “you fail because of your petty witchcraft
  66. watch, Come back here early in the morning
  67. then is your defeat, your fill of mourning
  68.
  69.
  70. in hate he returned for that cruel hour
  71. he looked at him, screamed and ran for power
  72. came from my grandfather “ let him pester
  73. me no more, for before my ancestor
  74. the face before my ancestor, I showed”
  75. as the shaman ran back to the main road
  76. my grandfather went to his bed and rest
  77. I went to him some nights, he was so blessed
  78. so I sought to learn his way, gain his force
  79. this he said “do not seek, rest in your source
  80. I am my own nature, that is the way
  81. this is ancient, more ancient than the day”
  82. he then got up and said “goodbye my son”
  83. he then got up and my body he spun
  84. “son If nothing within you stays rigid,
  85. and you fuse mind and spirit like liquid
  86.
  87. all the Outward things will then be disclosed
  88. look at the sky, from the start it reposed
  89. and when you are moving be like water
  90. the ocean is heartless, it does slaughter
  91. but it rests always, when you draw nearer
  92. you are to blame, still be like a mirror
  93. respond like an echo, this is the truth”
  94. he then disappeared, never in my youth
  95. did I see my dear grandfather again
  96.
  97. it was 20 years before I again
  98. began to search for my dear grandfather
  99. I knew he was alive, I knew that when
  100.
  101.
  102. I would become just like my grandfather
  103. i heard in a far off mountain there dwelled
  104. an old man grinding herbs and gathering
  105. mushrooms and locals when their bodies swelled
  106. would go to him he would put smattering
  107. of his ointment and would then become healed
  108. I journey to this far off mountain place
  109. crossing many dark lakes and verdant field
  110. I did this all so I would see his face
  111. finally I saw the luminous dusk
  112. behind the mount like a cluster of jades
  113. like a man starved who tears away the husk
  114. did I rush towards the mount of Chu-Sades
  115.
  116. I reached the place where dwelled a little tent
  117. a voice said “I know you are here my son
  118. obey my words and obey my intent
  119. make a mirror but never let the sun
  120. touch it with its rays, take a water bowl
  121.
  122.
  123. and let its water be under the moon
  124. for 11 days then you take the whole
  125. mirror and put the water in a spoon
  126. made of silver and draw a 4 eyed snake
  127.
  128.
  129. around the mirror and then anoint it
  130. with eight substances, with this shall you make
  131. it, your blood, spit, piss, mucus, tears, wax, shit
  132. and semen then during the half moon look
  133. upon it and you shall know the way I
  134. took which has knowledge not found in a book
  135.
  136. but the true knowledge, knowledge of the sky “
  137.
  138. i heard his words and obeyed his command
  139. I made the mirror and the lunar bowl
  140. as I applied the fluids with my hand
  141. I felt very strange, something in my soul
  142. begged me to stop but I did not listen
  143. i returned to the mount for the half moon
  144. “come out grandfather, see what has been done”
  145. he replies “ I shall not come out, for soon
  146. the half moon shall appear, then anyone
  147. will be before your eyes if you will it”
  148. i sat near his tent, waiting for the time
  149. soon I saw the moon in a perfect split
  150. I took out my mirror, it had a slime
  151. covering it all, i intently looked
  152. I saw the serpent come alive, twisting
  153. with a lucent blue and purple, it hooked
  154. its jaws into my flesh, no resisting
  155.
  156. was possible, i cried out, from the tent
  157. came one but not my grandfather, it was
  158. the shaman who my grandfather had sent
  159. away, he spoke “the mirror truly does
  160. what I said it would” he walked besides me
  161. then from the sky stepped down my grandfather
  162. the two men fought as I tried to get free
  163. the demon shaman with heaven’s honor
  164. against the man who knew the wayless way
  165. endless strikes yet none hitting, a stalemate
  166. I struggled to get free, so I might sway
  167. the fight, to shatter what I did create
  168. I finally broke the mirror but then
  169. as it shattered the shards were then scattered
  170.
  171. from them the snake came forth, covered in lights
  172. it spiraled around, its light then shattered
  173. and then we shattered, yellow-dark blue Night
  174.
  175. i am mingled, my mind in confusion
  176. I saw before heaven, the nameless way
  177.
  178.
  179. black clouds filled with the numinous essence
  180.
  181. they pour down and fill me, i am renewed
  182. I am a company of many things
  183. I dwelled in my own nature, there I stay
  184. red sandalwood mixed with purple mushroom
  185.
  186. hallucinations mixing truth, include
  187. I am in the depths of this delusion
  188.
  189. I see now, eternity and a day
  190. the peaches of a heavenly garden
  191. by their taste I go forth upon the horse
  192. I am the flyer at night with his wings
  193. are one and the same, hear what I now say
  194. the yellow empress bows in your presence
  195. she sees I have the divine seal and force
  196. I am the stone cut perfect crowned with Eye
  197. I am the hundred thousand things and they
  198. the ashes of endless seasons commune
  199. they say one and sixty four mysteries
  200. i am the holy eight fold trigram seal
  201. are my own going reflection, my play
  202. the tiger brained general gives pardon
  203. for from me comes the way of victories
  204. I am the great crowned lord who cannot Die
  205.
  206. I need not eye, ear, nose, throat, skin and grey
  207. a voice doesn’t cry out, only absence
  208. I denied my own denial, I formed
  209. I am a truth known by the name the Real
  210.
  211. are the lights of my mind for two I slay
  212. the Wild spirits seek to be your tribune
  213. slowly I and I and I then reformed
  214. I am spinning, the swan and the flame-Ram
  215. I am from the beginning but just clay
  216. the rainbow elixir must now harden
  217. shattered shards reflecting reveals I’s Eye
  218. I and I am I and I am I am
  219.
  220. i know myself, I know I am the Way
  221. the balance of the center, true silence
  222. I am who I was, am and shall be, I
  223.
  224.
