- From the prev thread:
- Swapped gospel mini story
- >Victor(Vicar?) has his head in his hands
- >He's glaring at the reports on his desk
- >His company is tanking, investors are jumping ship left and right and his wife has a baby on the way
- >Leaning back in his chair he lets out a heavy sigh and lights a cigarette
- >"Smoking is such an ugly habit you know."
- >Vic snaps his head to the voice
- >A well dressed man is standing in his doorway
- "I'm not seeing anyone. Leave."
- >"Oh but I am sure you'll want to hear what I have to offer. I'm certain you can see the writing on the wall, you need help don't you?"
- >Vic glares at the stranger and calmly puts his cigarette out in the ashtray
- "What do you want?"
- >"Oh I simply want to help you! In retirm I just want a teensy itty bitty thing from you."
- "And what would that be?"
- >All of the lights in Vics office go out and the door slams shut behind the stranger
- >A hellish red glow illuminates the room
- >The man no longer looks human
- >Vic is given a toothy grin
- >"Just your soul."
- "What the hell are you..."
- >Vic states at the demon in shock
- >"You know who I am, you're going to make a deal with the devil, I'm sure of it."
- "No. No way in hell."
- >"Oh be reasonable! With my help, you'll reach new heights of success! You'll secure your future! You'll be making your precious new daughter's life one of ease..."
- >Lucifer walks around Vic as he describes what would happen should the deal go through
- "And... If I refuse?"
- >"Oh you know what would happen."
- >Vic is silent for a minute
- "If I accept, you cannot do anything to me. Or my family. Directly or indirectly. Do I make myself clear?"
- >Vic fixes Lucifer with a glare
- >Lucifers smile widens at the balls this mortal has, making demands to him
- >He extends his hand to Vic
- >"I promise you. Now then, do we have a deal?"
- >Vics eyes move from the demons hand to his eyes
- "Deal."
- >He shakes the devils hand
- Cont.
- -
- >It had been years since Vic last saw Lucifer
- >In that time his daughter Cherri bloomed into a beautiful woman
- >And he had a new daughter in the form of Maggie
- >The both of them are adults and almost ready to set out on their own
- >Cherri and Maggie are chatting at the crosswalk, waiting with their father to cross the street
- >Once the light says its safe they cross
- >Maggie drops her purse in the middle of the road and she stops to pick it up
- >Vic hears the squealing of tires and people panicking
- >He looks to the source and sees a car barreling towards Maggie
- >The driver is screaming about the breaks not working
- >Maggie stares at the approaching car in shock, frozen
- >Vic sprints to his daughter
- >The car is seconds away
- >Vic pushes her out of the way
- >He wasn't so lucky
- >It was a closed casket funeral
- Cont.
- -
- >the company's collapse following the economic slump of the '70s was seen as inevitable to everyone... Except Cherri
- >she fought hard to keep her father's dream alive, sacrificing her health, both physical and mental
- >Vaggie, meanwhile, now completely rudderless and rendered nihilistic by the demise of the man who had given her a new leash in life, spends her portion of their dwindling wealth on trying to forget - through sex, drugs, and alcohol
- >both would see their demise, blinded to one eye - Cherri for failing to keep an eye on her remaining family, and Vaggie, for failing to keep an eye on the true value of her adoptive father's gift
- >one would die at a company event gone awry due to budget cuts loosing an eye to the biggest explosion - her guilty pleasure - she had ever seen, and her overstressed and unhealthy body not being able to recover
- >the other would die in a haze of intoxication, loosing one eye in a knife-fight, and bleeding to death
- >in Hell, the vain fallen angel, Lucifer, entertained the masses with his fiddleplay, while his loving wife, Lilith, humored herself with courtly games and powerplay
- >she saw the rise of the supposed "Vicar Man" in Imp City, and thought she'd rein in the good man before his fortunes go to his head
- >for this, she picked a recent dead: a former Soviet apparatchik and businessman, who supplied deadly weapons to the countries he believed had caused the collapse of his Motherland
- >she had given him a place of business, close to the only near-completely legal business in Hell
- >their symbiosis was better than anything she expected
- >meanwhile, the businessman's blood relative found herself in Hell, in a body she could've only wished for, at the cost of a few... jarring details
- >with no inhibitions and limits, no civil or anti-trust laws to bind her, she built herself a business empire within five years, and began a conquest over the capital soon after, defeating one warlord after another
- Cont.
- -
- >all of her progress came to a halt when she ran into a certain, ancient snake demon from the 19th century - a former ruffian and troublemaker, who kept his rebellious spirit throughout the ages, shedding old fads and forms like his skin, until he settled into a look he was comfortable with, his weapon of choice being cartoonish egg-bombs
- >by now, Cherri had gotten so used to easy success, she had gone soft - in more than one way
- >the rude awakening brought on by "Sir" Pent was enough to rouse her from the stupor of the executive seat, and put her back into action
- >chasing the snake had become her number one passion, and main form of exercise - she desperately wanted to defeat the old fart
- >still, she remained a businesswoman, through and through, which eventually landed her on the contact list of the Vicar Man - who, through his Russian associate, discovered the true identity of the familiar-looking cyclops
- >their reunion was heartfelt, and her world felt a bit more complete, now - she continued her conquest and expansion with renewed vigor
- >imagine her surprise then, when, in New Tens, a new figure joined the snake in his "campaign of harassment": the rising star of Hell's porno industry, Velvet's premiere courtesan, Vaggie "Scandal" Lollipop, known Hell-wide as under the moniker of the "Slag Moth"
- >...whom Cherri quickly recognized as Margaret, her adoptive sister
- >their reunion was... far less heartfelt, especially when she found out that her "dear" sister had been assisting the old snake in his attacks
- >...still, she was glad to learn that her step-sis had left the world of adult entertainment behind in order to seek redemption
- >...and then quickly set her sight upon the Hotel, as a point of interest and potential stronghold...
- >until the Princess of Hell soundly whopped her ass to kingdom come
- >soon, her father would move into the hotel, while she battled on, unaware that others were making bets on when she'll admit her crush on the snake
