  1. Magic, to appear as a pickle, that can fly, and transform itself and other things. Not the same as chemically transforming yourself into a pickle through altering your own bodily makeup, literally pickling his own brain and destroying his body over time, both literal, and as a metaphor to his alcoholism, preventing him from consuming yet becoming worse through time due to his physical state, he cannot move anything but eyes and a mouth, using hunting tactics, oral brain surgery, and immense crafting skills, while parodying some of the greatest superhero and other movies, and giving action scenes better than anything in that kids show. That is before we bring up the unique dysfunctional family traits and the damage parents can do to their children and the fact that rick could have died due to his stupid choices along with the admittance of defeat only to repress said memories and fall into old habits in a very realistic yet ridiculous scenario that LITERALLY NOBODY ELSE COULD ACCOMPLISH including this kid and his faries, because he could never be a true pickle, because harm and da fairy rulez. You can hate on something for it's sheep followers, but seeing as it has higher intelligence comedy than some of the best, is extremely scrambled and random yet avoids plotholes better than simple storylines, AND makes fun of its own audience memebers that ARE sheep followers. It's actually a good ass show, and to shy away from it in fear of the sheepish ways of others is simply to choose a different shepherd, as also pointed out in the show when rick makes fun of ricks for starting a government to be safe from the government. It plays on the faults of real life, which may be too intense for those who can't face reality, but for those who can and do have to, and then can understand the depth behind it all, it brings about the most glorious and funny combination of these factors. I won't defend it's popularity. Justin beiber, donald trump and hitler were popular. Then again, so was martin luther king jr, and so was obama, and so was ghandi. So to judge based on "who is the underdog" is to simply wish to be a contrarian, which is a sheepish way to want to fight not for a goal or purpose, but simply to fight. That mentality does not craft betterment, it just replaces one broken system with another. I know this is too philosophical and political, but my point stands that this brilliant show is the opposite of what makes it dislikeable. Purge planet, ratsuit pickle rick, tiny rick and his weird angst, galactic federations, citadel of ricks, it all has its quirks good and bad. What does family guy have that makes you like it so much more? The intelligent humor is watered down in a slew of sheepherding fartjokes, the popularity is even greater, the storyline less existant, the scifi less interesting. Rick and Morty literally started and a back to the future meme. Family guy started as bad drawings, mediocre animation, in fact the only thing that carried the show was macfarland, and roiland does the voices, emotions, comedy and intensity just as well, with a possible trade off of slightly less comedy for fairly more intelligible storytelling. The simpsons, even futurama, is just a high quality pandering comedy by the later episodes. Futurama held true to having some story, but i see next to no character development in any, often they develop backwards. Family guy makes a point to tell us that "everything will be back to normal next week" as they hit some imaginary reset, and none of them actually break the 4th wall as comfortably as rick and morty, who are bested by only a few -like deadpool- that are characters built around that trait. Simply put, while you may have your own opinion of the show and its fans, the show itself holds its own in every possible light, so the bad rep everyone is giving it for creative ideas like pickle rick is rickdiculous. Most the bad rep is a bunch of uncreative people being fucking idiots and using the catchy and creative phrases, showing that it is just as comedically effective and surely memorable, while proving that rick and morty really seperates the wheat from the chaff, in that the unintelligible just scream phrases like they were a bunch of white girls saying they can't even handle this, while we are the ones who are at our wits end with their type but must find different "PHRASING!" (Archer quote, used out of context to illustrate my point) just to embody our exasperation. Wubba lubba dub dub has a meaning. Rick does not use it as "just a catchphrase" as he does not use it when he is not in pain. It is a catchphrase, in that he does use it often, but if people were to use in in proper context irl, it would be a lighthearted and comedic way to reach out and ask for help, without having to embarass yourself. Rick and Morty is the only show to have embodied the idea of reaching out for help without being ashamed, while also pointing out real problems people face in getting that help. There is so much depth beyond dipping pickle rick in szechuan sauce. People have snapped and eaten brains over taste in music, so to be so bothered by people acting like retards over something so quality it went mainstream then i have no idea how you stomach family guy, save for they have no particularly memorable moments or any catchy catchphrases. What the deuce, eat my shorts. Even the ("you know for a dog, you're a pretty cool cat" 'stewie just said that' trending on twitter) as a whole segment dedicated to trying to make people do what they did naturally to real catchphrases. Jinkies, zoinks, ruh-roh. Catchphrases are repetitive comedy atleast through one episode, maybe im pickle rick could qualify simply due to its memorialization, and not a single line repeated at the end being taken too far long afterwards because people want mcdonalds promitional mulan and not the same damn sauce found in a grocery store. To reiterate, it is mostly getting a bad rep due to it's good quality, good comedy, good catchphrases and unique personality being twisted by a bunch of sheep idiots who can't understand the higher quality jokes that are gems in shows like family guy. Beyond that, yes you need to actually watch to understand typically, because it has an actual story for once and isn't the same dumb thing done a different way every episode. Even still, you can watch out of order, and it is comedic and fun. I don't understand the disapproval of what is a new take on the world of comedy, scifi, and storytelling that is most closely rivalled by Archer, the nearest similarity peer show. I can imagine nothing but positive relations between archer and rick, as they spiral out of control together in their drinking and poor morty is dragged along for the ride in horror. Bojack is a similar character trope to archer in the funded alcoholic aspect, but it is not nearly as similar a peer show in its lack of action, replaced by "life lessons" and a focus on their gradual character growth. To ABSOLUTELY simplify, as if solving an english-math equation, I love rick and morty for a lot of the same reasons I love archer, replacing the spy genre with the scifi genre within the alcoholic adult cartoon genre. (In additional response to the poster who posted "This dude over here typing paragraphs about shit that don't even matter") Can I just point out how issac is nothing but anime propics, exasperated about what I do that "doesn't matter" while talking about my opinion, which in said case would matter even less than my own topic, as it is the topic of the topic. Also, may I point out that I myself have zero rage. Like, negative rage. This pointless banter is actually relaxing, almost meditative. I love ranting about nothing, or ranting about ranting, let alone about the glory of Archer/Stewie and his Female-Brian/Male-DoctorWhoAssistant follower. All these likes, all the hate, all over an opinion I enjoyed having an opprotunity to share. 😌 Maybe I'll be the next love/hate meme. Atleast I didn't have to disrespect my parents to get here. Share my glory if you see fit, I'm moved that you all care so much too. 😂💖
