"Godot cafe was the official discord from about october2023 to may 2024. The shift had absolutely nothing to do with the "controversy" that happened months later.

My guess is that they initially thought of officially endorsing Godot Cafe, until they decided they would rather hire their own mods."

Well, as of October 2nd 2024 according to the the wayback machine archive of their community page. Showcased in their "Official Communities" section and in their "Official links" page. The discord server advertised was this: https://discord.gg/bdcfAYM4W9.

And checking out their page as of now/writing this. It's now different. You can't sit there and argue "It's an unofficial server" when they called it an official community/server on their own website. My point being they did indeed advertise that unofficial server or at least a different server than they are right now as an official community and now they are not.

As for the discord mods thing, whatever the reason, you can't argue the fact that the mods from the 1 server are now in the official server as mods. Why even make a different server at that point. Same people. (mostly).
