Either way, men boast on the idea that women are always free to choose their partner but are spiteful if rejected by the woman’s free will in choosing their partner.
Men are always expecting to be accepted by default by a woman, and if not, there must be an inherent problem in the woman’s powers of perception.
Thus, YR sexuality maintains a supererogatory appearance for an inevitable end:
Obedient women are free to choose the partner to be seductive for whenever he wishes it, or
Actively signalling women are free to choose the partner she will have to nurture and reassure of her trustworthyness, if he does not reject her out of fear
The inevitable end for the supererogatory appearance that the masculine YR frame is the impossibility of what Goldman calls “plain sex,” sex that can be signalled by any of the two sexes and that can be mutually enjoyed indifferently of who initiates the sexual signalling and who responds.
