!!!Grasshopper/Locust-Human Hybrid

As the third in a line of genetic experiments, Shin is the result of her brilliant and extremely deranged father's attempts to create a master species that can rule the world - because of his relentless experimenting on her, she has been turned into the monster she is now. However, the synthesis actually failed at the halfway point - instead of her losing her humanity completely by means of transformation into a berserk insectoid form as originally envisioned, she is permanently stuck as a girl with insectoid features. Unfortunately, this means that her enhanced immune system is rejecting the insect parts of her, basically causing her to decay from the inside out. The spliced implants in her body cause her immense pain at sporadic intervals, and she is almost always swathed in medicinal bandages to conceal and lessen the damage caused by this.

!!!Regeneration

Fortunately (or unfortunately) for her, Shin is also possessed of an incredible healing factor - she constantly regenerates the tissue damaged by her rejection, and is capable of growing back entire limbs in minutes or surviving bisection. However, complete destruction of her brain will kill her instantly.

!!!Organic Weaponry/Psychic Implantation

The green chitin embedded in Shin's skin can grow to create a temporary armor around her arms, legs, and chest, hard enough to block bullets. Her claw-like hands are hard and sharp enough to shred steel, and she is also possessed of superhuman reflexes, agility and speed. Shin cannot speak because her father sewed her mouth shut in one of his usual psychotic experiments, trying to stop her from screaming because it annoyed him. The stitches have since been integrated as part of her body, preventing regeneration. To circumvent this, she can implant specially enhanced locust nymphs into sentient beings, allowing them to understand her through psychic communication. She is only capable of extremely basic thoughts, due to a combination of abuse, trauma and being... a grasshopper-human hybrid.

!!!Killer Locusts

Shin can birth genetically enhanced flying locusts from the insectoid parts of her body and control them with remarkable precision. These can chew through metal given enough time and can rend through flesh with ease. However, creating a swarm of them depletes her brood, and she will have to wait for her young to mature again before attempting to call them out again.

Being only capable of the most basic thoughts, Shin is an extremely timid and broken individual, due to both her pitiful state and the abuse of her father. She is generally terrified of everything and anything new, and even in familiar surroundings, will only stare plaintively around, being unable to speak. Her monstrous appearance tends to elicit reactions of disgust and fear, something that she has caught on to - hence, she tends to keep to herself, being too shy to do anything. However, it is possible to create a state of berserker rage in her by forcing her to fight in self-preservation, and her nature means she is easily forced into doing things by violence. There is nothing to suggest that she cannot be repaired by therapy, though it would take an incredibly long time. Whatever humanity left in her was squashed a long time before she became an insect.

When Shin had a name, she was in a fairly normal family. Her mother and stepfather cared for her like a real daughter. She was happy. Then they both died in a car accident when she was seven, and her estranged father, a little-known scientist, came to hold custody of her. It turned out that the reason why her mother left was that he happened to be extremely unstable under his respectable social mask and extremely brilliant despite his humble status. Almost immediately, Shin fell into a pattern of daily abuse - she was cooped up in a small room with nothing but bread and water, and beaten almost every time her father saw her. Then she was brought somewhere else, and the experiments started. The doctor also had a twisted sadistic streak. In his quest to create a master race, what better subject to use than his own offspring? And so the horrific string of sewing, cutting, splicing, more cutting, more splicing, and testing began. Shin was only barely kept alive, and there was rarely any anaesthetic involved - however, despite the doctor's best efforts, the experiment was a failure. Codename Shin, 'Truth' in Japanese, rejected the implants on the 105th day of testing. Wild with disgust and loathing for his failure of a daughter, the doctor began thinking of ways to get rid of her...
