One third party to note would be the Green Party. Originally known as the People Party or the Ecology Party, The Green Party was founded in April of 2001 and it focuses on topics such as the environment, nonviolence, and equality.
One notable candidate was Ralph Nader in 2000. He is a political and environmental activist. As a candidate in the 2000 election, he could have possibly helped the Republican candidate win the election against Democratic Al Gore.
There are many reasons that one should support the Green Party. The party does not take money from corporations or lobbyists. It is a party by the people and for the people. The party wishes to make big changes and help solve global environmental issues, from pollution to climate change. They are all for a free higher education as well. Student debt is a big issue. Immigrants are considered the backbone of the nation and they are welcomed. They will be provided a path to American citizenship. The party is all for civil liberties. They want to protect LGBT rights, advocate for social justice, and help solve other societal issues. Abolishing the death penalty, getting rid of private prisons, and getting drug users the healthcare they need is important. Their goals are not confined to just the United States, as they wish to make a global difference when it comes to the environmental issues.
