  1. Street Fighter II Turbo - Hyper Fighting MSU-1 (CPS-2+ & Heavy Damage) pcm set by GyaragaX
  2. v1 May 7, 2018
  3.
  4. This MSU-1 pcm set for Street Fighter II Turbo contains newly cut, looped, and normalized tracks, primarily sourced using Street Fighter II - The Definitive Soundtrack lossless FLACs.
  5.
  6. While the original SFII: The World Warrior, Champion Edition, and Turbo arcade systems used the CP System I (Capcom Play System), later versions Super Street Fighter II and Super Turbo used the CP System II (CPS-2) board, which, among other things, had improved sound capabilities.
  7.
  8. In most instances, the music used in the later iterations of the game were just improved versions of the same tracks from the original. This pack uses those CPS-2 enhanced versions of the music where 1:1 replacement was suitable.
  9.
  10. There are a few exceptions:
  11.
  12. -Conn's MSU-1 patch supports a track 16 for the Capcom logo jingle. In other pcm sets, this has been mostly unused. This pack uses a slightly modified for time, newly recomposed jingle by SonicWolf (Christian Payne) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dF6CxlcZ020
  13. If you'd rather hear the original SPC700 Capcom jingle, remove track 16.
  14.
  15. -The title music for the opening demo changed in Super Street Fighter II. Super Turbo, however, used a variation of the original title music for the character select screen. PittStone's previous CPS-2 music pack used Super Turbo's character select track for the title music (track 17). This pack uses a different track, by default, sourced from vertexguy (Chris Kline)'s OverClocked ReMix rock arrangement 'Frets of Fury' (http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02027), cut down for timing. While it's not a CPS-2 arcade track, I believe vertexguy's arrangement is a more appropriate match for the original opening track, better serves the intent of this set, and is an improvement on the stilted start to Super Turbo's character select music. Included in this pack is an directory labled "Title track alternate options" with both vertexguy's version, labled "sf2t_msu1-17 (Rock)", and a newly normalized CPS-2 version, if you'd rather use that instead. The rock version is already in the regular set, as well, properly named to work with the patch. If you wish to use the CPS-2 version, copy that into the main directory, and rename it accordingly, without the (CPS-2) label.
  16.
  17. -Chun Li's ending music changed in Super Street Fighter II. CPS-2 versions of the original tracks do not exist, so this pack uses newly looped CPS-1 tracks (tracks 36 & 37), normalized to match the volume levels of the rest of the pack, in order to remain true to the original music.
  18.
  19. -Likewise, the Staff Roll end credits track changed for the CPS-2 editions, and new end tracks were added for the four bosses, Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison, replacing the "Four Devas Ending". Newly normalized CPS-1 tracks are used for each of these (tracks 48 & 49).
  20.
  21. This set also includes CPS-2 versions of all Heavy Damage (Critical) music tracks (tracks 50-61) that, when used with the Heavy Damage MSU-1 patch (https://www.zeldix.net/t1605-street-fighter-2-turbo-msu-1-heady-damage-themes), activate when health is low. If you'd rather just hear the main tracks, remove 50-61.
  22.
  23. Original music and sound credits go to (in no particular order):
  24. -Yoko Shimomura (Sound)
  25. -Isao Abe (Sound)
  26. -Yuki Iwai (Music Design)
  27. -Yoshihiro Sakaguchi (Sound Design)
  28. -Tatsuya Nishimura (Sound Design)
  29. -Nobuhiro Ohuchi (Sound)
  30. -Toshio Kajino (Sound)
  31. -Yasuaki Fujita (Capcom Jingle)
  32.
  33. Thanks to SonicWolf (Christian Payne) and vertexguy (Chris Kline) for their arrangements. Thanks to Conn, qwertymodo, gizaha, and Proteus (Randerson Pereira Cardoso) for their romhacking work. And thanks to Relikk, RedScorpion, and PittStone for previous pcm sets.
