- Privacy Policy – Contested Cases Report
- Last updated: 08 December 2025
- Thank you for using Contested Cases Report (the “Extension”). This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and how your information is protected.
- By installing or using the Extension, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
- 1. Overview
- Contested Cases Report is designed to help court staff and CMS users:
- Assist with filling the CMS export form (case type and date range), and
- Generate a formatted List of Contested Cases from a CMS-exported Excel file.
- The Extension is built with privacy by design. All processing happens locally in your browser. The Extension does not send your case data to any external servers.
- 2. Data the Extension May Access
- The Extension may access the following data only when you explicitly use it:
- 2.1. CMS Web Page Content (Active Tab)
- When you click the “Fill CMS & Click Export” button, the Extension uses the activeTab and scripting permissions to:
- Fill in export form fields (case type, from date, to date) on the currently open CMS export page.
- Programmatically click the CMS “Export” button.
- In doing so, the Extension may technically have access to the HTML structure and certain visible form elements of the active CMS export page. However:
- It does not read or copy the full case data from the page.
- It does not send any page content outside your browser.
- It does not store this content anywhere.
- The script runs only on the tab you are actively working with and only after you click the Extension’s button.
- 2.2. Excel Files You Select
- When you use the “Generate Contested Report” feature, you manually choose an Excel file (e.g., the CMS export) from your device.
- The file contents are processed locally in memory within your browser.
- The Extension uses this content only to:
- Identify relevant columns (case number, dates, etc.).
- Build and display a formatted contested-cases report in a new tab.
- The file is never uploaded to any external server by the Extension.
- The Extension does not store a copy of the file or its contents.
- Once you close the report tab or the browser session, the processed data is no longer available to the Extension.
- 3. Data We Do Not Collect
- The Extension:
- Does not collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or contact details of users.
- Does not log or transmit case details, case titles, or other judicial information to any external service.
- Does not use cookies, trackers, or analytics scripts.
- Does not use any remote APIs, databases, or cloud storage operated by the developer for storing your data.
- Any case data you work with stays within your own browser environment and your own computer’s filesystem.
- 4. Permissions and Why They Are Needed
- 4.1. activeTab
- Used only when you interact with the Extension button, and only to:
- Inject a script into the currently active CMS export page,
- Fill the export form fields with the case type and date range you chose,
- Trigger the CMS “Export” action.
- The Extension does not access other tabs in the background or automatically.
- 4.2. scripting
- Used to:
- Inject and run small helper scripts in:
- The CMS export page (for autofilling and clicking “Export”), and
- The generated report tab (to enable sorting, printing, and export-to-Excel from the report view).
- These scripts run solely in the context of the pages you explicitly open and interact with.
- 5. Data Storage & Sharing
- The Extension does not store your case data in any database, cloud storage, or on external servers.
- The Extension does not share any information with third parties.
- Any data processed by the Extension remains in your browser’s memory and on your local machine.
- Please note that:
- Your browser or operating system may maintain its own logs, caches, or history.
- The Extension does not control how your browser or operating system handles such information.
- 6. Security
- Because all processing is done locally, the primary security boundary is your own browser and device.
- The developer has:
- Designed the Extension to avoid sending any case data off-device.
- Limited required permissions to only those necessary to provide the features (form autofill, report generation, sorting, print/export).
- You are responsible for:
- Controlling who has access to your computer.
- Protecting your CMS credentials and system access.
- Handling the exported reports and Excel files according to your organization’s data protection and confidentiality rules.
- 7. Children’s Privacy
- The Extension is intended for professional use (e.g., court staff, office users) and is not targeted at children.
- It does not knowingly collect information from children.
- 8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
- This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time, for example to reflect:
- Changes in functionality,
- Changes in permissions, or
- Changes in legal or regulatory requirements.
- When the policy is updated, the “Last updated” date at the top will be revised. Your continued use of the Extension after any changes signifies your acceptance of the updated policy.
- 9. Contact
- If you have any questions, concerns, or requests related to this Privacy Policy or the Extension, you may contact the developer at:
