  1. [19:34:49] Where they were going probably wasn't nice, or atleast it wouldn't appear on the outside as such to Ninurta. Unaware of if he had been down here before, a few of their friends having dove down into the supposed cellar, and found this place with the help of Ariadne.
  2.
  3. An akward thing today though, Marciel in the middle of questioning, the teen makes a scene while attempting not to of himself going down into the underground passage with Ninurta in tow.
  4.
  5. Rooted torches along the wall, illuminating their journey down into the deep recesses of a network of caves that should now exist there. It's a long walk before coming into the clearing that revealed that second abode tucked away out of plain sight.
  6.
  7. Decent sized, and all; garden growing, and yet another Atticus tending to it in solitude, and silence. Noticing them, he preps -- doors opened before they even approached them, Hendrix leads the way.
  8.
  9. "Before we get started- Atticus, bring out the Mercury." Looking to Ninurta, their way made inside, and there directly when entering is a small little space.
  10.
  11. The anvil having been moved, it rested down below near an encompassing underground lake! Where it once was is nothing more than a collection of tools; hammers, tongs, gloves, and other such assortments. "Grab a set of gloves, and leave your cloak."
  12.
  13. His jacket stowed here as he instructs, his hair taired up, and bound- ponytail there to keep it out of the way of what was in store. Taking hold of a hammer, a smaller one when comparing it to the others, this a necessary tool for today.
  14. (Hendrix Este)
  15. [19:43:21] Really, the manor which they stayed certainly did seem to be lively at a moment's notice. His few trips within always containing the sight of a few guests, and Atticus'. Though, additiona ldetails aside Ninurta follows his lead with the most silent steps, where his sneaking by only warrants a question from Ninurta once they had officially broke away.
  16.
  17. "What was that all about?" Really, if anything, the Avharain felt like they were theives. Though, such was obviously not the case as they entered the large structure below. The sbeautiful sight within however not foreigh to the adolescent. "It's been a while since I've been here, though."
  18.
  19. Words muttered through the moment he follows Hendrix's lead. His cloak is hung and a set of gloves are grasped, his knowledge on smithing however at an all time low. No matter how much one kept themselves buried within a book, there were just some topics that were passed over entirely.
  20.
  21. Smithing? It just seemed to be one of them. "Hopefully I won't be too useless, though." He chuckles, awaiting instruction.
  22. (Ninurta E. Avharain)
  23. [19:54:27] Moving over, Atticus following along with this cooke-jar sized tub of a dark blue liquid. Sloshing around, the container is see-through, it's contents in no way not visible to Ninurta.
  24.
  25. "Your part is easy." He always said that. It never was for those that helped him-- first time forgers tending to lack confidence, or the fine-tuned control required, walking them through it was common an occurrence now for him.
  26.
  27. From the walls, letting Ninurta catch up as Atticus sets the jar down for him to take a look at- he grabs a blade. One of the more prominent looking ones; golden ornate designs, a blue color that seemed to mimic that of the mercury housed in the jar, only paler by comparison.
  28.
  29. That the color of scabbard, it's handle a bronzen red, with flecks of shimmering gold there. Slotted holes, three appearing near it's guard. Taking it down, he wields as hewould any other sword; different from Murasama, a long sword to be attached to one's back.
  30.
  31. "This is what we'll be working on." Holding it out for Ninurta to see, still sheathed for now, but that to come in time of course.
  32. (Hendrix Este)
  33.
  34.
  35. [20:03:50] "Is it? Well, that'd be a first among the random things you guys ask me to do." Chuckling a bit, Ninurta simply remained patient through the moment Hendrix prepared both the weapon, and the 'ingredients' that'd be utilized in creating it, or reforging it. When one thought about it, the process was almost alike that of Alchemy. Were certain items were necessary to make the sword itself better, or to even bring it into existence!
  36.
  37.
  38. "Oh... it looks pretty nice." The actual ensemble. A blade certainly small enoguh to be precise and cut through the likes of an opponent were they to be of lesser skill than the wielder. In short though, the style was entirely unlike that of the enchanted sword he kept. Its augment, and craft allowing for the boy to utilize the chamber within to fire off a magical 'round'.
  39.
  40. "So, what is my part?" He asks, blinking. He figured it had something to do with magic however, seeing as Hendrix had questioned him about it earlier.
  41. (Ninurta E. Avharain)
  42. [20:13:13] This was actually a first for both of them.
  43.
  44. Tempering, and making an existing weapon stronger. Building, and molding materials together via iron-casting was one thing; near effortless now at this point in time with what he had learned. The act of applying materials to something already made? While it seemed easy, there existed the problem of making sure what was applied took to what was already there.
  45.
  46. "Freezing." Letting Ninurta know what his part was in all this. He actually had the hardest part. There a necessary chill needed for Mercury to become a solid, and even more than that- concentration required to maintain it long enough that it would stick.
  47.
  48. "We're going to 'coat' this sword, in that." Pointing now witht he sealed blade, towards that jar, the top for it conveniently removed by Atticus at this point for the two boys.
  49.
  50. "We have two materials to work with." Two? One introduced, Hendrix steps over, back to where his coat hung for the moment. Reaching inside letting Joyeuse rest on a shoulder, the teen fishes around for a moment before pulling out his hand with what appears to be a handful of small green-glistening gems.
  51.
  52. The cluster amount of them considered enough for the moment, this he shows to Ninurta. "Tempestine." Informing him of what it was, he holds it close so hat he could see.
  53.
  54. (Hendrix Este)
  55.
  56. [20:21:45] "Freezing huh. That's not too bad." Really, he's been working with ice for quite some time. He could even say to the point where he's learned how to properly preserve and flash freeze the ingredients used in his creations every now and then. Though, rather than mention that aloud in attest to his skill he remains rather quiet while the demonstration continues.
  57.
  58. "So, there's two ingredients. Mercury, and Tempestine. What's the Tempestine for?" Each ingredient had a purpose right? Out of the two, he's heard of Mercury. However the latter ingredient is something worth knowing, so that he could learn something potentially useful.
  59. (Ninurta E. Avharain)
  60.
  61.
  62.
  63. [20:53:20] Both had their purposes, yes. One to improve upon the already existing effects of the sword, the mercury a component that would provided a boost to it's potency. A blade that sapped the circuits of the wielders, having come to realize this through personal moments of using it in battle.
  64.
  65. He wanted to correct that; the element of magically conjured ice- Ninurta's mana hopefully housed in each glacial overlay would be adopted in the mercury as it was assimilated.
  66.
  67. The Tempestine on the other hand. . . Hands closing around the clusters; a 'heat' added to it. Not what one might typically expect of the Este, a pyro-influenced magi. What comes from it isn't a flame, but just the feeling of heat; mana having taken on this personal trait of the element he had grown intimately accustomed to.
  68.
  69. With this there's a change in the tempestine, subtle at first but as time lets on- and the heat seems to be focused inward towards his palm- the diamond shaped construct begins to wane! Melting there, a liquid constructed out of it right before the eyes of the Avharain boy now.
  70.
  71. "Elemental potency." The answer to his question, walking over now, the blade held out towards Ninurta for a moment- "Grab the sheath, and pull."
  72. (Hendrix Este)
  73. [20:58:27] "Oh, that's actually pretty interesting. If only I could take notes." Potency found within certain metals, huh. Well that certainly stretched upon the idea that some materials had channels within it that could augment the user's magic. That, had perhaps went in turn with the weapons crafted by Arryn, and furthermore the gunblade which had been resting upon his back for such a long period of time. .
  74.
  75. "Alright, then. Back to work." Words murmured softly, the adolescent's focus would once again be invested in grasping upon the blade's sheath. A simple, pull away perhaps being the moment in which the weapon itself would be revealed, and perhaps worked upon by the ever so diligent Este!
  76. (Ninurta E. Avharain)
  77. [21:01:52] Pulling in unison with him, Joyeus is freed! The weapon soon dropped to the floor, with a clatter, and clang. With the anvil not here as mentioned prior, down below on the lower level- he sets to work now with the preparations.
  78.
  79. The Tempestine there in his hand, he decides it best to apply it in a 'hands-on' fashion. Smeared across the flat side of the long sword. Back, and forth stroking motions exercised as he takes the time to make sure it's settled.
  80.
  81. All the while- the heat allowing for the unnatural progression from solid to liquid, and with Ninurta nearby-- "Water first. Where my hand is tracing over right now- conjure as stream, or something, and run it through until I tell you otherwise."
  82. (Hendrix Este)
  83.
  84.
  85. [21:12:06] Joyeus, huh. Naturally such a name would warrant yet another question as they continued, however attention to the instructions uttered would only breed some curiosity from Ninurta. Such being along the lines as to what would happen had he managed to mess up. An explosion? Simple waste of the rare materials acquired? Who knew. But granted he was hardly nervous from the odds at hand, well... things would contine to proceed smoothly.
  86.
  87. Where his hand traced, moisture from the air would be conjured with little effrt from Ninurta, the element pouring out in a steady stream as directed by the smith. As for the focus required, Ninurta made sure to keep his eyes and ears open for the moment it'd be required for him to simply cut off the flow and begin the next step.
  88.
  89. However, this whole spectacle certainly did bring to mind just what reaction would occur once this was all said and done.
  90. (Ninurta E. Avharain)
  91. [21:18:56] Over, and over! For a few minutes, this is it- the pinnacle fo their work; mundane heating counteracted by cooling in the end. The heat always greater than that of the water that found the tempestine.
  92.
  93. When finally it reached a desirable point? The once gem-like substance now nothing more than this emerald green paste like glob smeared along the blade of Joyeuse. It had adopted a green hue now due to it, from within the tempestine there came that mana once trapped.
  94.
  95. Now free to billow, and secrete; elemental gales were there, this now time for the next part. "Wind." It was time to freeze it! But before such instruction was given in full, there needed to be a test- tempestine's effects were present, and known in the room.
  96.
  97. Not in full yet, but surely enough for Ninurta, the wind magi to well... catch wind of it. Empowered through whatever rampant clusters may have free-floated to fill what was a limited work space for the two boys hunched over, or otherwise. "Cool it off with it." Cool it, and dry it actually, but the two were linked together, no need to voice both commands considering that.
  98. (Hendrix Este)
  99.
  100.
  101. [21:29:10] Well, it's to be anticipated that there'd be a command, but the slight pause in his command is certainly enouugh of a sign to let Ninurta know that he'd have to look for that window of opportunity itself. The elements of wind and water, were certainly still second nature to him, easy to be felt when the outside sources would come into play against that of his own.
  102.
  103. Now!
  104.
  105. When the inherent energy is released, so is the sudden gale of Ninurta's own focused, freezing wind. The sharpness of his mind however caused the air around them to chill considerably upon the outermost layer of his magic. Though towards the actual center of his focus, one could certainly feel the lingering heat slowly drain away in trade of the now 'heavier' air, the form of what was intentionally being frozen maintained carefully so as to not ruin the form and design so carefully crafted by Hendrix himself.
  106.
  107. Though, to the extent of which he froze the thing would of course be up to Hendrix to judge. As the diminutive details would certainly not be known by the Alchemist!
  108. (Ninurta E. Avharain)
  109.
  110. [21:41:07] As progression was seen, and constantly accounted for. Frigid air taking hold, spreading upon, and consuming what heat he had conjured. His magic drawn back, no longer in it's rawest form for the element to prosper off of.
  111.
  112. Howling tempest would hold the tempestine there. No room for a hamer blow, or any dull thuds for the moment, that tool grasped at the beginning cast aside to rest at his leg. Hands removed from it, the rest dependent on Ninurta, his magic the key in what was a pivotal moment of bonding.
  113.
  114. "Combine them now." He says, standing up to watch, a step or two taken back, and a hand that would motion for the Avharain to approach in his place! He was the smith today it seemed, while Hendrix the onlooker, the observer for this part.
  115.
  116. "It can't be too cold, or else it'll hold, and shatter. Nor can it be too loose, or else it'll shift, and ruin the blade's edge." Not too cold, yet not too warm! The latter might have been easier, while the former would require skill, constant awareness, and the inclusion of cognitive ability, and expert multitasking between elements.
  117.
  118. From his end of course, there might be some help- a certain 'radiance' from afar; heat, not as focused, or harsh as before. Pouring from Hendrix, providing the impression of some sort of hearth! Like a beacon, or a sun; monitoring as though he does nothing, but ever watchful of changes, subtle shifts, and sharp declines.
  119.
  120. There to pick up the pace, if it were ever needed.
  121. (Hendrix Este)
  122.
  123.
  124. [21:52:12] So there had to be some restraint. He figured that'd be the case, yet it'd have certainly been much more easier to simply have the thing entirely frozen over without a thought afterhand. Yet, slowly did he begin to decrease the temperature of the liquid material within. Ninurta's eyes were solely focused onto the sight before him, any sign of the work at hand molding properly being desired.
  125.
  126. "You're really asking for a alot here..." He grumbles, the consistant combination of wind and water at a constant certainly much more difficult than he could have imagined. Though, having poured years of practice into its manipulation, the benefit would have surely been seen within the work at hand.
  127.
  128. His focus hardly cracked, and temperature necessary to properly prepare the blade was certainly maintained for an extended amount of time on his behalf! Though, as suspected. It would be Hendrix's keen eye that'd catch when the metals were at its best. Yes, when the piece of art would meet its completion and harmonize with the former piece to create something new, and of his own design!
  129. (Ninurta E. Avharain)
  130. [22:03:18] As with Clementine, and Nefertari before Ninurta- he was never the best at easing up. Dragging them in, only to put them to work, this time worst than the last two occurrences.
  131.
  132. Not because he hated Ninurta, no- a weapon that was already made did not need the blow of a hammer, or the constant dousing of flame, or the unwavering pelting of the earth to shape it. A softer, more precise hand required. An array of skills that would allow for such, being what Ninurta possessed for this particular endeavor now.
  133.
  134. "Focus." Cutting off unecessary conversation, looking over as best he could from his point of view. A glance shifting only once, towards Atticus- servant responding with movement knowing what was his intent.
  135.
  136. The Mercury! This part now there, the next step in line for what was 'phase one' of Joyeuse' upgrade process.
  137.
  138. "The portion at the point should be the coldest, make sure the tempestine is bonded to that part the most." From there, trailing down- the radiating ice was something he didn't wanted 'even' on all sides, or the entire length of. Specifics of where it should be at it's highest chilling point, and from there where he might harbor intent for other additions later on.
  139.
  140. "Stop as you get closer to the guard."
  141.
  142.
  143. (Hendrix Este)
  144.
  145. [22:18:40] Focus.
  146.
  147. It's an easy command to understand, and steel himself upon the very moment agitation settles upon his features. Words were done away with, and once again did he wholly set his emotion aside to focus upon the parts of the blade that were to be chilled the most.
  148.
  149. Most of all through the process, one could feel the temperatures lower and rise accordingly, the frost itself nearly visible whenever the intensity seemed to suddenly increase so as to meet the standard previously explained. Though, such had certainly made the process a bit logner than anticipated, as Ninurta had certainly found himself to be quite exhausted once Joyeuse's guard was met.
  150.
  151. It was then that Ninurta thought of partially freezing Hendrix's dome in the process, however complications would only result in an even more tired Alchemist, whom favored the idea of keeping himself nice and tighty for a good night's rest.
  152.
  153. Hopefully.
  154. (Ninurta E. Avharain)
