  1. >Dash told you to sit on her bed for a few minutes while she dug her stuff from her closet.
  2. >Her closet was filled to the brim with trinkets, trophies, and otherwise.
  3. >Although subtle, the white silken robe she wore highlighted every cut of her masterfully built body.
  4. >She was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful girls you ever had the privilege to lay eyes upon.
  5. >Someday, you hoped, you would find someone like her.
  6. >Nobody would ever be exactly like Dash, but at least you knew what you found attractive.
  7. > “Found it!”
  8. >You jumped slightly at the sudden noise.
  9. >She tossed two gargantuan duffel bags straight at your feet.
  10. >One good whiff sent your head spinning.
  11. >The rancid stench stung your nose with every breath.
  12. ”Dear God, Dash, what died in those?”
  13. >She kicked the bags with her toe, fumbling them around.
  14. > “Nothing died in it!”
  15. >She playfully punched you in the shoulder.
  16. > “I just never got around to cleaning them.”
  17. >She sat next to you on the bed, wrapping her arm around your neck, pulling you close.
  18. >Chuckling, you starting pushing her back slightly.
  19. > “It’s really cool we can finally get out of here and maybe spend some time together, just like the old times.”
  20. ”I know! I can’t wait for it!”
  21. >Remembering the past between the both of you brought a smile to your face.
  22. >Ever since you were a child, Dash stuck her neck out for you, and in return, you did the same.
  23. >You both spent countless hours exploring the forest and hills surrounding your old home.
  24. >She was a natural born athlete; destined for glory and greatness.
  25. >Moreover, the endless hours sprinting next to her testified to the fact.
  26. >Dash was impossibly fast, and still was to this day.
  27. >Regardless, the two of you always found joy in danger – the adventure.
  28. >Once, you both found an ancient burial site while exploring.
  29. >It was unlike anything you had seen before: as if, thousands of years of collective imagination had condensed into a single entity.
  30. >According to Dash, the place was probably an underground citadel from a long lost empire.
  31. >Nothing was unexplored; each hall and room meticulously searched for plunder – the sake of adventure!
  32. >Eventually, the both of you discovered what you assumed was the inner sanctum.
  33. >A peculiar object pierced the heart of the room – a monolith surrounded by four pedestals, each with an individual runic tablet upon its face.
  34. >Your backpack was already quite heavy, but Dash insisted and charged forward.
  35. >You followed her.
  36. >Each tablet inscribed a particular runic symbol, individual in its own right.
  37. >Dash took two, as did you.
  38. >As if by script, the entire room shook apart.
  39. >You and Dash barely managed to escape alive that day.
  40. >The entrance to the ruin shook itself apart, collapsing
  41. >Archeologists would have a field day if they discovered that ruin – too bad you got there first.
  42. >Nearly perishing to the crumbling city behind you, Dash wanted to rest for a few minutes – get her bearings in order.
  43. >After several minutes of suffering through an uphill jog, you found a place to rest.
  44. >The view was astonishing; forest and hills stretched as far as the eye could see.
  45. >Hues of orange and red brushed across the sky, accompanied by an aurora of illuminated clouds.
  46. >Dash scooted next to you, wrapping her arm around your shoulder.
  47. >A perfect moment overshadowing the peril encountered moments before.
  48. -
  49. >Her voice flowed just as smooth in your mind as it did back then.
  50. > “Anon?”
  51. ”Yeah?”
  52. > She paused for precisely three seconds, squeezing you tight.
  53. > “That was quite an adventure, huh?”
  54. >You cackled with laughter at the obviousness of the question.
  55. >Her smile flashed in the corner of your eye.
  56. ”Yeah, it was really awesome, Dash!”
  57. >She ran her fingers through your short hair as her breath licked the length of your neck.
  58. >After a few moments of silence, you turned to face her gaze.
  59. >It was of yearning for something you could not quite understand.
  60. >A suppression of emotion cast into a single gaze.
  61. ”Dash? Why are you staring at me like –“
  62. >in an instant, her lips conjoined to yours, breaking your speech.
  63. >Despite the lingering taste of sweat, the delicate ambrosia of her lips lured you closer.
  64. >You wrapped your arms around her petite body, tightening the hold.
  65. >What felt like hours rolled by, and Dash eventually broke the kiss.
  66. >You finally opened your eyes, revealing her blush-ridden face.
  67. > “We should probably head back.”
  68. >You never spoke of that incident to anyone.
  69. >It was a closely guarded secret between you and Dash.
  70. --
  71. >Life changed after that.
  72. >From the moment you returned home, a peculiar aura hovered around you and Dash.
  73. >Spending time with her held more significance, and you treasured each moment.
  74. >Days lingered onward, and you spent more time with her.
  75. >Until, of course, the anticipated news came clamoring into your ears.
  76. >Your mother had finally managed to score a job in the big city – a dream come true.
  77. >She was so excited; as was your father, but you knew what moving meant.
  78. >And so, your hours of adventuring through the forest ended, passing away with the winds of change.
  79. >The new city was hard to adjust to at first, but you managed somehow.
  80. >You think the tablets were somewhere up in the attic.
  81. >Your relationship with Dash gradually drifted away once you moved.
  82. >Dash’s athleticism gained tremendous reputation far quicker than you ever anticipated.
  83. >The spirit that once held you both together faded, leaving you to your own labors.
  84. >Although you still managed to stay close over the years, the constant flow of your lives battled that connection.
  85. >Perhaps a vacation would set everything straight again.
  86. >You missed the tight connection with her.
  87. ---
