- These are the original Alt Hunt Rules that I did my first run on. I'm preserving them for history's sake, you're probably more interested in the newer rules: https://pastebin.com/3bcW1v04
- ================================================================
- The hunt had some questionable rules, obviously made without proper testing. You can't go to TVHM. The time limits and points clearly assumed it was impossible/very hard to beat. You have to beat the game. You can only use one character. You can't leave mayhem levels. You can go oob, but you can't go through walls. You can quick swap but you can't quick reload. All sorts of weird restrictions which really don't affect anything, so have no reason to be there.
- This tries to address of those issues, as well as push it in a bit of a different direction. As is, the hunt is basically just gear up, then rush through every enemy. Everything's routed beforehand, nothing happens on the fly, you even decide what your one world drop will be beforehand cause you know you'll get it at some point. The only exception to this is the loot rooms, getting something there can change the rest of your run. I want there to be more things like that. I want world drops to matter. I want you to reroute things on the fly. Do these rules fully accomplish that? Probably not. But I want to try things.
- I also feel like points should be re-balanced, but am not covering that yet. Points aren't exactly that important given how easy it is to get anything anyway.
- ================================================================
- The hunt will run for one week, from <dates>. Within this week, you can only play for 56 hours (8h/day average). How you split this up is up to you. You must stream your entire playthrough. Time will be taken from stream vods, so if you want to switch to another game it's best to quickly stop the stream for a minute.
- Players will be ranked by points first and stream time second - if two players have the same amount of points, the one with less stream time is ranked higher. If one player has 20h more stream time, but got 5 more points, they're still ranked higher.
- Characters
- ----------
- Any character you use must be created at level 1 during the event. You may create multiple characters, both points and playtime are combined between them all.
- You must play on Normal difficulty, with Guardian Rank disabled. You may not use any of the Super Deluxe bonus items, though you are allowed to redeem them and instantly throw them on the floor.
- You may not use any items from the Lost Loot machine or the Golden Chest, any items mailed to you by friends, or any items in your bank from another character. As long as you keep careful track of what you put in it, you may still use your bank.
- You may not spend Borderlands Science points, or use a booster you started before creating your character.
- The Moxxtail, Pinata, and Badass viewer ECHOcast events must be disabled. You may leave the rare chest event and extraction event on.
- You may play in coop, as long as all players follow all the other rules. There must be no more than 3 levels between the highest and lowest level players in your party. You may duplicate items, but only to give to other players, you may not keep duplicates yourself.
- Drops (the big weird change)
- ----------------------------
- To have proof of a drop, you must look at the item card and clip it. You may also grab the item and show if off in your inventory. If an item drops out of bounds, and you can't see the card or grab it, it will have to be refarmed. You may use photo mode to grab items which are out of reach. Items found in vendors must be purchased to count. Items found in Arms Race do not need to be extracted to count, as long as they follow the previous rules.
- When playing in coop, if using instanced loot, drops only count for the player that found them. If playing with the same loot, drops count for all players.
- All items must be collected from their dedicated source, you cannot redeem world drops. However, every 3 duplicate dedicated drops, you unlock the ability to redeem one world drop. Duplicate dedicated drops are defined as drops of an item from it's dedicated source after having redeemed it - world drops do not count as duplicates. You may not retroactively redeem a world drop, and you may not change what items you redeemed as world drops.
- There is a small set of items which can be redeemed from a world drop without using up one of your unlocked drops: the Krieg DLC uniques; the Arms Race legendaries; and any items obtained from the Eridian Fabricator. These all still count as world drops; they do not add to the duplicate count.
- Items from slot machines, vendors, or the dedicated loot rooms all count as world drops. Items found in the mail and mission rewards (including ones purchased from Earl's vendor) may not be redeemed. any circumstances.
- You may not use photo mode to collect the Bounty of Blood Bank items early. You may also only collect them once per playthrough - you must (re)start tvhm to get another chance.
- You may not refresh Vaulthalla by leaving and coming back, you must kill Psychoreaver once per farm.
