  1. Very few come to Ternon Crag because they have a choice. Sylvie's family had this lack of choice in common with many of their peers in their new home. Sylvie's father, Mathieu Fontaine, was a duelist in service to one of the petty princes of Llael for many years. However, when rumors began swirling about Mathieu having an affair with the princeling's betrothed, Mathieu suddenly found himself set to duel someone who vastly outclassed him in talent. Choosing his family over his honor, he took his wife, Jacqueline, and his two children, Sylvie and Jean-Claude and fled south to Ternon Crag. This was fifteen years ago, before the invasion of Llael. Since then, the family had established themselves in Ternon Crag as owners of a small general store, and adapted to their new life in the city.

  3. Five years after their move, the family daughter, Sylvie, began to undergo changes. She developed a strong affinity for the stray animals of the city, who would accompany her in packs as she traveled around town. She also began to act wild, almost feral, and resisted any attempts at altering this behavior. The family tried everything, even taking her to a local Morrowan priest to see if she had been possessed, but not even this religious authority could determine what was wrong with her. The only one that had answers for her was a tall, bulky man wearing concealing black robes. A Blackclad. He told the family simply that this development signified that she was one of them, a druid, and that if she went with him, he could teach her to harness this power. He also explained that if she remained in town, she would be a danger to herself and her family, as her power spiraled out of control. Reluctantly and tearfully, her parents allowed her to leave with the hulking stranger.

  5. Sylvie has been training with the Circle for ten years now. The first part of her training was living with a tribe of Wolves of Orboros for several years, growing up with them and learning their ways. Their position on the Black River is precarious, and conflict was a way of life. Her mentor, Liam the Howling Wind, taught her the ways of the wilds, and helped her to deepen her connection to the beasts of the wild. This culminated with a ritual to bind a juvenile Griffon from the Rotterhorn, and become a full-fledged warlock of the Circle Orboros. Due to her master's fealty to Omnipotent Mohsar of the Eastern Dominion, their job became to monitor the pass between the Rotterhorn and the eastern border of the Protectorate of Menoth. She was assigned a simple task fitting of a Warder: observation of a shifting stone site just south of the Rotterhorn, and ensuring that no enemies pass through the immediate area that the Circle does not know about. She has tended to this task with enthusiasm, living in a small shelter in the foothills of the desert and scouting with her griffon, Baldoin, by day. But with the invasions of the Skorne on the north face of the Rotterhorn, it seems only a matter of time before they begin to push another direction...
