FAQ
>What's Queen & King of /v/?
A pair of annual single-elimination tournaments of 128 characters that was first started on /v/ in 2019. They last for 10 days each, and are presented in a meta context as if they were beauty pageants with Yotsuba, /v/-tan, Tre/vr/, and Samus Aran or Senator Armstrong presiding as judges. People post drawings, vocaroos, greentexts, storytimes, rec guides, videos, or edits of characters
they like that are nominated. The champion earns the title of Queen or King of /v/ and is permanently retired from future tournaments. Queen of /v/ and King of /v/ will be the seventh edition of these tournaments on /v/. There are similar character tournaments on /co/ and /mlp/.

>Why do this?
Although the main purpose of the tournaments may be best conceived of as a yearly decision for garlanding /v/'s favorite characters, it also acts as a major gathering for OC creation, /v/ media & character appreciation and discovery, and just general fun.

A more comprehensive history of /v/ tourneys as well as the other board tourneys can be found on the wiki.
https://4tourney.wikitide.org/wiki/4chan_Tournaments_Wiki

>How does this work?
Characters are nominated and then voted on the qualifier poll. The bracket will be the top 128 characters most voted for in the qualifier round. The seeding of the bracket is randomized as of 2022, and any rule voting will be done in the qualifier poll at the start of the tourney as of 2024.
Anon's vote for the winner of each match every round. Winners advance and fight other winners.
Each round lasts 24 hours, results are revealed at the end of every single round in the google form.
There is one champion who will be declared Queen/King of /v/ of given year, and characters who placed 2nd to 8th are called the Elite 8.
Winners are permanently excluded from participating again.
The Elite Eight are temporarily ineligible for nomination next year.
For more details on eligibility and the history of winners see below.

>Where can I find out when the next tournament is happening?
Planning, organization and general tournament discussion during the year happens here: https://boards.plus4chan.org/tnt/. You can also make occasional stealth threads on /co/ or /v/, but making more than one per month is not recommended, as it pisses the mods off.

---------------------------
----Nomination Process
post name, pic, sauce
Example: “Nominating The Batter from OFF” with a picture of The Batter from OFF in the initial post
Must receive 12 replies
24 hr period

>Poll Picture
The poll picture will be taken from the nomination threads.
If the picture is inappropriate to post on the board, or is intentionally wildly misleading and shitposty then the picture will be switched for one that better represents the character.
As there are many images during this period, the chosen picture may not be the first posted or one with the most replies. Pictures are under final review of said hosts that year.

>Name Length Limit
Due to tomfoolery and buffing in the past with long names, nominated characters will be limited in name length when being nominated, or otherwise will be shortened in their name appearance on the qualifier poll.

>Character Limit
For Qualifier Poll
Each source can only have a maximum of three (3) characters in the main bracket. These are decided by their votes in the qualifying poll (i.e. only the 3 characters with the highest number of votes in the qualifier poll are allowed from Touhou, Metal Gear, or Final Fantasy). However, there is no restriction on the number of characters that can be nominated from a single source.

----Eligible Nominees
>Fictional characters originating from vidya property only.

>As of 2024 there is a grandfather rule, meaning a character who got in any previous year is eligible for entry even if they violate the above rule.

>Spinoffs & crossovers characters are counted as separate series (e.g. Persona and Kingdom Hearts).

>Characters must be in the tournament of their sex.
-Characters who aren't male or female (or unknown gender/sex) are eligible for either tournament.
--A character who makes bracket in one tourney cannot be allowed in the other.

>No fanmade characters (character creation, OCs, memes, etc.)

>Elite Eights are temporarily ineligible for nomination next year, with champions permanently ineligible.

>Cannot nominate multiple characters in one post.

>Inanimate objects are not allowed. (Cause, Dante's guns. These are explicitly barred.)
