- “If any little thing like that can knock you over so easily, I worry about your future, Warrior...” Maxwell came forward, smiling. "...So we have the perfect present for you.”
- About four of his classmates, cheering joyfully, came forward, and they were pushing some kind of metallic object. It was something like a snowmobile, and something like an off-road bike, combined with a control panel straight out of a robot cartoon.
- “Ah...that's...!”
- “That's right! It's the trusty hyper-wheelchair that once belonged to our dormitory leader from many, many, many generations ago, Hawking! We swiped it out of the memorial hall. It was in an exhibit expressing thanks, but this little treasure was just going to waste in there. I'm positive you'll make better use of it.”
- He tried getting in. He adjusted the air pressure in the red leather seat. It drove on six wheels, and had a solar battery. It was steered using a joystick. In the cockpit, there were many meters and switches all in rows. The storage compartments had been packed with useful items, like a first aid kit, a tea kettle, sweet bread and meat pies, and a bunch of bananas.
