  1. -- Running Total Annihilation on Windows 10 --
  2. - Obligatory "this works for me, good luck"
  3. - Most of this was derived from conversations here: https://www.tauniverse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45833
  4. - Go browse the TAUniverse forum for more detailed info if this doesn't help.
  5. - If any of the links don't work, ping me and I'll fix them
  6.
  7. -- Main Steps --
  8. 0. Buy Total Annihilation
  9. 1. Uninstall everything TA-related from the control panel if it's there.
  10. 2. Clean install TA to a directory without spaces
  11. 3. Copy the unofficial patch files into the TA directory (download from here: https://www.tauniverse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46455)
  12. 4. Try to launch the game, if all seems well, then good job.
  13. 5. If things aren't well, or if exclusive fullscreen TA is unappealling, see below.
  14.
  15. -- Bonus Steps --
  16. - DXWND is a way to run fullscreen applications in a window (usually to accommodate older programs like TA that expect fullscreen)
  17. - When I play TA via DXWND, I can, without issue, alt-tab, use the megamap, and capture the window in OBS without it taking over my monitor. Framerate is unaffected as far as I can tell by this.
  18. - If you're feeling adventurous: Download DXWND and fiddle with the settings from scratch
  19. - If you're feeling lazy: download my personal DXWND config, unzip that folder into the base TA directory, and fiddle from there (download from here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1aw02-tMz6ExW4WarPPyqp14i8BCyP_km?usp=sharing)
  20. - Resolution for TA can be changed in-game to zoom in the viewport without changing the window size
  21. - Changing the size of the DXWND window can be done by modifying the task entry for TA within DXWND via changing the max and min resolutions to the desired value.
  22. - Forcing the TA resolution higher than the DXWND resolution will probably break things
