  1. [17:52] She led Rindou to the back room, locking the door behind her. In the center of it was a platform that radiated energy of a Spire Shard itself, though the rest of the room was.... In very bad disarray.
  2.
  3. Scorch marks could be seen, broken furniture, and turned over lamps. This had been after all, where they had fought last night. Literally. Regardless, the Kitsune continued to move past the wreckage towards the still nestled tea table and cusions, lowering herself onto one.
  4.
  5. "Don't worry yourself too badly. I'll speak to him and have you reinstated."
  6. (Reito Shimasu)
  7. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8.
  9. [17:56] Rindou entered the back of the shrine. The room where all of the place's secrets lay hidden and... where miracles happened. Her eyes grew wide as she noticed the chaos in there, the scorch marks, the mess it made. This wasn't how it was supposed to be, was it? Had.. her talk been lead like this?
  10.
  11. "... What... What happened here?" She asked, moving closer to the table, taking a seat closer to the Kitsune than normally.
  12. (Rindou Sakamoto)
  13. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  14.
  15. [17:57] Already, she had lit a small fire underneath the teapot, allowing the tea to brew as she issued the girl a polite smile,
  16.
  17. "I spoke to Isaac aggressively," She said simply. That was all the world needed to know, after all. As long as he didn't say anything further on their discussion, neither would she.
  18. (Reito Shimasu)
  19. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20.
  21. [17:58] Rindou Sakamoto says, "...."
  22. [17:58] Rindou Sakamoto asks, "Are you hurt?"
  23. [17:58] Reito Shimasu says, "No no, I'm quite fine. Just bruising."
  24. [17:58] Rindou Sakamoto says, "Let me see."
  25. [17:58] Reito paused before she laughed,
  26.
  27. "I'm quite fine, honestly."
  28. (Reito Shimasu)
  29. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  30.
  31. [18:00] Rindou's eyes narrowed upon the Kitsune. With the state of the room and the way Reito had apologized to her husband there seemed to be something fishy. Something she had doubts about. It felt like a big, big lie was being unraveled before her eyes in one way or another.
  32.
  33. "Then you'll agree to let me see if everything is fine."
  34. (Rindou Sakamoto)
  35. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  36.
  37. [18:06] She sighed lightly and rose up her sleeve to reveal the one arm that wasn't covered in that intricate tattoo. She held her arm out. In a few spots there were bruises,
  38.
  39. "See?" She asked, "We spoke aggressively, is all. Please don't fret over me, Rindou… I'm quite fine. Isaac agreed to think heavily on everything from now on, and listen to reason. He agreed to freeing the slaves but wanted me to make the announcement. He would never kill me. He told me so himself, even if I stood in his way. Which I did."
  40. (Reito Shimasu)
  41. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  42.
  43. [18:37] Rindou looked down at the arm that was exposed, then up towards Reito's face. She watched her smile. She watched her keep that fun tone - that laugh. She watched her dismiss the pain her husband had given her. She watched her saying that he'd listen, that he'd never go too far, that he'd think about his actions. Her right hand reached out, allowing holy light to seep out of it and mend the bruises along her arm as thoughts narrowed in one direction:
  44.
  45. Rindou Sakamoto watched her mentor fall prey to domestic violence.
  46.
  47. *What do you mean you feel different? Please explain.
  48.
  49. I... don't know. It feels like holy magic came to me for a reason, but I can't use it the way others do. I can't put up barriers or mend wounds on the battlefield, that's not the way I'll protect people. I'd rather strike at the problem before it becomes an issue.*
  50.
  51. How could she protect her? How could she defend Reito Shimasu's life if the woman herself was slowly sinking further and further to be with the one she loved? Mending wounds and jumping in to catch her everytime she would fall..? No. She couldn't let it get this far. Taking care of the problem before it became an issue; this was the way she was always meant to do things.
  52.
  53. This holy hand of hers suddenly rose up, slapping the Chancellor with no restraint whatsoever - handing her the beating she wouldn't expect but definitely needed. A slap to shake her ideas alongside a few choice words.
  54.
  55. "Are you some kind of idiot, Reito?! He's hurt you! He's going to keep on hurting you when he disagrees! He gave you an inch and made promises that just won't come! How can you love a man like that?! HOW?!"
  56.
  57. She was getting heated. She didn't even address the Kitsune properly and was obviously dealing with feelings of her own along the way.
  58.
  59. "He said he'd never kill you, but what about others?! What about me?! WHAT ABOUT YOUR HEART?!"
  60.
  61. ... Yeah. Rindou definitely had some reason to get this emotional over it all. That talk she had with Caira about watching a loved one going off the deep end had hit her. The questions the Gehennan left in her hands were still as bright as ever.
  62.
  63. The person I love would never fall like that.
  64.
  65. .. That must be 'how'.
  66. (Rindou Sakamoto)
  67. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  68.
  69. [19:04] She allowed Rindou to heal those bruises she had collected, not expecting the sudden slap. In truth, had anyone actually ever done that before? Her head jerked to the side and she blinked a few times, stunned by what had happened. Surprise was present on her face before eventually those pink eyes turned back to Rindou quietly, observing her as she declared all of that.
  70.
  71. Despite the smarts that the girl's strength gave to her cheek, she still smiled.
  72.
  73. "I attacked him," She said calmly. "He never once rose a hand against me. The bruises were simply from me attacking him, and him defending himself. He never aimed to truly hurt me, Rindou," She explained. She pulled her arm back now, the sleeve lowering over it. That smile persisted, "He made promises that will come, because I have faith in him, and I believe in him..."
  74.
  75. She gestured to the front of the shrine, the public area,
  76.
  77. "When we were younger, Sera Elisheva utilized a spire shard upon Isaac. Back then, Isaac had no wings. He was just a boy. Someone who escorted me back home from Crafthold long before I became Regent, and before I was even Chancellor. Sera used that shard to bless Isaac, and as a result those black wings erupted from his back. But not because he's evil - it was simply his lineage, from very far back," She said as she reached out to pour the tea and then... A few squeezes of lemon in Rindou's tea cup before it was placed before her gently.
  78.
  79. "He was worried that the coloration of the wings meant that he was evil. That he was destined to be evil... But I was there, to confront his fears and lay them to rest. It's true, Isaac gets ahead of himself in battle. But he means well, he just goes about it... Awkwardly. He promised me he would take more care in thinking, and would listen to me more, Rindou. I believe in him."
  80.
  81. Was she saying that out of love, or did she truly believe it? Or... Perhaps both. Regardless, she continued to smile,
  82.
  83. "He won't harm you. He won't harm others, either. I'll ensure it."
  84. (Reito Shimasu)
  85. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  86.
  87. [19:15] How could she protect those she cared about when they wouldn't listen to violence itself? Why wasn't she attacking her, either? Why was Reito Shimasu just.... blindly believing in that man?! Rindou couldn't accept that. She wanted to protect this woman. To ensure her survival. To make sure the world would not lose someone so pure, kind, and willing to teach others, but...
  88.
  89. ... there wouldn't be any world left if the Sakamoto sat there and let it happen.
  90.
  91. The virtue of Wisdom was right: Taking care of Isaac would be her responsability. The one that could help the most was back to where they started. She was talking of the past, speaking of a man that was completely different.
  92.
  93. "You talk about him like he's the same person! Someone who's worried about making mistakes— worried about being evil doesn't hurt others willingly. They don't kill an elected leader for disagreeing with them!"
  94.
  95. It came again, this time more righteous. The holy light that burned around her frame enhanced that next slap, desires screamed forth.
  96.
  97. "Wake up already, Reito!"
  98. (Rindou Sakamoto)
  99. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  100.
  101. [19:26] She was slapped again, and this time, she grew quiet. Her hand came up to her cheek, and she rubbed at it quietly.
  102.
  103. "... He is the same person," She said quietly. "I saw it in him when I fought against him. He feels alone, more than anything else. That's his issue..." She shook her head, "Please just let me show you it, Rindou. I am awake. He realizes what he did wrong, and he's striving to do better. Please believe me..."
  104. (Reito Shimasu)
  105. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  106.
  107. [19:30] "I'm sorry but... I can't."
  108.
  109. This was the truth. She couldn't believe a man like Isaac Shimasu was in any form or shape good anymore. Redeemed? Perhaps, but it would take someone to save him from the spot he's in and that person...
  110.
  111. .. That person didn't see the issue. She refused to. She blinded herself to reality, just like everyone said she would. She allowed this monster to go on and took crumbs of this stolen humanity as fact.
  112.
  113. The young woman roughly stood up from where she sat, not even treating Reito's wounds in full or drinking a sip of her favorite tea. She wanted to leave.
  114.
  115. Leave and do what?
  116.
  117. She didn't know. She couldn't figure out what the next step was. She couldn't go and fight the man, he surpassed her by a large, large margin. She couldn't get Reito to help, either. What.. could she do?
  118.
  119. The next step had to be aggressive. Offensive. If she wanted to protect others she needed to be stronger.
  120. (Rindou Sakamoto)
  121. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  122.
  123. [19:31] Rindou Sakamoto says, "... I want to continue my training as an illuminated."
  124. [19:31] Rindou Sakamoto says, "When all is done-"
  125. [19:31] Rindou Sakamoto says, "I want to open that shrine in Dusk."
  126. [19:32] Rindou Sakamoto says, "I can't rely on you to always be there for me."
