- "Another instance of this femine weakness of character, often produced by a confined education is a romantic twist of the mind, which had properly termed sentimental."
- "Women subjected by ignorance to look for happiness in love, refund on sensual feelings, and adopt metaphysical notions respecting that passion, which lead them shamefully to neglect the duties of life, and frequently in the midst of these sublime they plump into actual vice."
- While reading, "A vindication of the fights of women", these two following quotes did stand out to me, and she does make a good point on women not being educated enough, as they only care about the important and common aspects of the world, including their own lives. Many do say that all women care about is sexual intentions that they give to men since they are not educated on important rules and aspects of their own bodies and as women, they need to pay attention and get educated on the results after intercourse. Also, women even ignore the fact regarding their immoral behavior such as being a mother or dealing with the fact that they have duties themselves as individuals. Although many woman believe that life rules come from romance novels, in reality, the stories do not come alive, and according to Mary Wollestonecraft, romance novels exist to make women believe that their ideas come from there, and finding their "true love" does not come in a couple of days or seconds. Some believe that women never taught themselves on how to use their minds to help their brains grow as individuals to help stand up for themselves as they only pay attention to fairytale endings, which of course, is not reality. Even women care more about compassion regarding everyone else around them instead of themselves. For example, if they get hurt constantly by other people, try won't know on how to defend themselves, and if they were educated at fighting, they would realize that not all people are good individuals. According to Mary, she is defining these two major and powerful quoted as though many women are falling for the romantic novel stories, not realizing that there is a difference between fantasy and reality. Although people do say that this author is putting down women, because of them not focusing on "the real picture", she is not, as in these two famous quotations she is trying to claim is that if women do get educated more, they will be one good individuals and contribute to society, and yet, earn the same rights as men.
