  1. Generation Mechanic: True Power
  2. 1. The central theme for this generation’s unique mechanic is the idea that every Pokemon has True Power. A trainer who can Awaken his Pokemon’s true power will be unbeatable. True Power is effectively a synthesis of Megaevolution, Dynamax, and Terastalization, with the idea being each of these is simply a different, prototypical way of accessing True Power. This ability is manifest in two ways: Awakening and Paragon Level.
  3.
  4. 2. A Pokemon can enter an **Awakened** state by using certain Moves acquired by various tutoring items found in the game. Awakening taps into a Pokemon’s True Power to give it an intense but temporary boost with the following effects
  5. >>Effect 1: Type Change: A Pokemon’s True Power Type matches one of their standard types. Some Pokemon also have or can obtain a Hidden Power Type which is different from their normal Types. Thus Charizard’s True Power can either be Fire or Flying, but he could have a Hidden Power of any other Type.
  6.
  7. ....When a Pokemon Awakens their True Power, they change to their True Power Type; if they were dual-type before they lose their second Typing, and if they Awaken to a Hidden Power then they change to a completely different typing.
  8.
  9. ....As with Terastalizating: A Pokemon retains their original typing for STAB purposes. If their True Power Type is one of their standard types, their STAB increases to 2x for Moves of that type. If using a Hidden Power Type, their STABs are normal but they gain STAB on their new typing.
  10.
  11. >>Effect 2: Stat Improvement: Upon reaching a certain point of the game, True Power can also improve the Stats of an Awakened Pokemon. This adds a total of +100 to their BST, affecting all sets except HP as follows:
  12. ....+35 to 2 Stats
  13. ....+10 to 3 Stats
  14. The Stats improved in this manner are determined by the Awakening Move that the Pokemon uses. Thus a trainer can customize their Pokemon’s Awakened stats.
  15.
  16. >>Effect 3: Move Change: Once Awakened, a Pokemon’s Awakening Move changes into a Max move based on its type.
  17. >>Duration: Once the Awakening Move is used, a Pokemon will remained Awakened for 3 more Moves before reverting to its normal state
  18. >>Limitations
  19. ....Only one Pokmeon can be Awakened per Battle; once Awakened they can be Reawakened, but no other Pokemon on your team can do so. Awakening Moves can still be used for their normal Attack effects, but they do not trigger the Awakening state.
  20. Once a Pokemon leaves their Awakened State the accuracy of their Awakening Move is set to 0%, which cannot be improved. Each subsequent turn raises the Accuracy by 50%, so after two turns have passed a Pokemon can Awaken again at 100% accuracy on the Third turn
  21. ....Awakening Moves have unique PP rules. They have very low PP values that cannot be improved with PP up or restored with Ethers or Elixirs, only by specific items.
  22. ....Legendary and Mythic Pokemon can only Awaken for one Turn, not Three. The reason for this is that they are already very near their Awakened power, and so pushing past that exerts strain that limits its usefulness.
  23.
  24. 3. The second use of True Power is to elevate a Pokemon to its Paragon Level, which drastically increases its BST to 600, putting any fully evolved Pokemon on par with a Psuedolegendary.
  25. >>Paragon’s stat increase is proportionate to its normal BST, which means that a fast Pokemon will become faster and a tanky Pokemon will become tougher, but a Pokemon with very low SpAtk will not suddenly become a SpAtk powerhouse
  26. >>A trainer can only have one Paragon Pokemon on their Team at a time, and it’s something that you choose outside of Battle, so once the Battle starts you can’t change your Paragon Pokemon.
  27. >>Limitations: Legendary, Mythic, and Psudeolegendary Pokemon are already considered Paragon Pokemon and so cannot obtain this effect.
  28.
  29. 4. The game introduces Awakening relatively early on, initially in a limited form that simply manipulates Typing, then as a full power form improves Stats. Paragon Level is introduced much later and isn’t achievable by the Player character in the main plot until very near the end of the Gym challenge.
  30.
  31. 5. How to True Power is accessed:
  32. >>The game’s core theme centers around the problems of science and technology trying to supplant nature instead of seeking coexistence.
  33. >>The villain group endeavors to use both cybernetics and genetic manipulation for forcibly evoke a Pokemon’s True Power
  34. >>The protagonist on the other hand is guided to a route that allows them to awaken their Pokemon’s True Power through friendship and willpower
