  1. The blanket settled snugly back around him, warming his limbs and tempting him to sleep, but he shook his head vigorously.
  2.
  3. “I... can't sleep anymore. It's bad.” He was much calmer than before, but his eyes were still haunted and hollow. He sighed. “I don't... want to see that anymore...”
  4. “See what?” Kururu queried, with unusual bluntness. Saburo only shook his head, but Kururu leaned down to face him directly, “Of all the things you would normally understand, you aren't in your best state right now, are you? If I ask for information, you should give it to me, or else what can I do? I'd rather not put you back in the soul diver just for a look at your nightmares...”

  6. “Wh-why does it matter?” Pirarah was very familiar with the personal nature of some of the things one saw while asleep, and he honestly did not see the point.
  7.
  8. Kururu gave him an annoyed look, and snapped, “Well, it's because I get the feeling that his dreams at the moment contain more about this situation than he would tell us on his own, perhaps more than he could. Maybe it will be relevant, maybe not, but hearing it won't hurt anything.” It was true that Kururu wasn't sure that any of this would actually be significant, but he would prefer to avoid leaving something out of it could help.
  9.
  10. “It...” He began, and it seemed he finished, for a while, but somehow, he pushed himself to continue. “It's not... always the same. Usually... that demon... and darkness... and I can't move, or breathe, but I never fade out...” He shivered, his eyes seeming to almost mist over, memories drawing him in under an unnatural power. “I... I'm just there... and sometimes it hurts me and sometimes... you... and I can never stop it, and it seems real... it is real...” A noise, almost a whimper. “For that time... I really am... I can't...” It was clear that he wasn't seeing them anymore, something else claimed his vision, his breath quickened in panic. He stopped, tightening his mouth and keeping careful silence for another potentially dangerous amount of time.
  11.
  12. “Please... I'll rest later or whatever... but for now...” Saburo murmured, “But for now... just let me stay with you...”
