  1. When should you wall carry with b4,4? - An Alisa Optimisation Quandary
  2.
  3. With Alisa's new b4,4 wall carry option in Season 3, it seems to many that Alisa players that it's overshadowing other options, notably WR3,4 as the wall carry of choice. However, because you always have to transition to SBT/DBT, it's not always the best option. In fact, it's barely ever the best option.
  4.
  5. Let's look at when it's better to carry with b4,4, and compare its damage to WR3,4 in some situations.
  6.
  7. - To a regular wall
  8. - WR3,4 W! 1, ff+1+2~2: 33 DMG (1st, tight timing)
  9. - WR3,4 W! 1, 2,3,3: 33 DMG (1st, males only)
  10. - b4,4~3+4 W! SBT 1,2,1,3+4: 31 DMG (2nd)
  11. - WR3,4 W! 1,2, f1+2: 31 DMG (2nd)
  12. - WR3,4 W! ws1,2>3: 30 DMG (3rd)
  13. This is b4,4's most common usage. However, it's actually less damaging than Alisa's best, albeit specific or difficult, options that start with WR3,4. It ties with most Alisa's favourite wall ender (1,2, f1+2) and has worse oki than the ws1,2>3 ender. You'd only use b4,4 to carry to the wall when WR3,4 wouldn't reach.
  14.
  15. - To a regular wall with rage
  16. - WR3,4 W! 1, RA: 34 DMG (1st)
  17. - WR3,4 W! 1, 2,3,3: 34 DMG (1st, males only)
  18. - WR3,4 W! 1, ff+1+2~2: 33 DMG (2nd)
  19. - b4,4~3+4 W! SBT 1,2,1,3+4: 32 DMG (3rd)
  20. - WR3,4 W! 1,2, f1+2: 32 DMG (3rd)
  21. WR3,4 is better because it allows the option to end the juggle with RA, while b4,4 does not. Again, only use b4,4 to carry when WR3,4 will not.
  22.
  23. - To a breakable wall pre-screw
  24. There's no point comparing damage options in this scenario. b4,4~3+4 W! SBT 2 WB! is Alisas's only option to break the wall when committing with b4,4, and SBT 2 leaves no time to screw the opponent after the wall break, meaning no flexibility. If going for max damage in this situation, go for a carry other than b4,4.
  25.
  26. - To a breakable wall post-screw
  27. - WR3,4 W! ff3,4,4 WB! db1~3: 41 DMG (1st, males only)
  28. - WR3,4 W! ff3,4,4 WB! d2,4: 33 DMG (2nd)
  29. - b4,4~3+4 W! SBT 2 WB! df1+2: 31 DMG (3rd)
  30. Again, b4,4 isn't the best option here. After SBT 2, there's no time to do anything other than a grounded df1+2 hit. WR3,4 is a much stronger and more versatile option when carrying to a breakable wall.
  31.
  32. - To a breakable balcony pre-screw
  33. Yes. Use b4,4~3+4 W! SBT 2 BB! as your balcony break of choice if you want to save your screw. Alisa is limited in carry options pre-screw, and b4,4 is practically always the best option.
  34.
  35. - To a breakable balcony post-screw
  36. - WR3,4 W! ff3,4,4 BB! Ender: 23 DMG + Ender (1st)
  37. - WR3,4 W! bf2 BB! Ender: 16 DMG + Ender (2nd)
  38. - b4,4~3+4 W! SBT 2 BB! Ender: 16 DMG + Ender (2nd)
  39. There's no reason to use b4,4. WR3,4 allows for more damage at the cost of two more hits, or the same damage for the same number of hits. You'd only use b4,4 if WR3,4 wouldn't reach.
  40.
  41. - To a wall in Forgotten Realm, pre-floor break
  42. No. SBT 1,2 breaks the floor, which leads to an awful and unoptimised floor break juggle.
  43.
  44. - To a wall in Forgotten Realm, post-floor break
  45. Yes, unless you're really close in which case do jabs or d4,1+2 (or 4 if you broke with something like b4,3 that leaves them FDFA). b4,4 is a great carry option post F! because WR3,4 is extremely inconsistent at that range. Also, note that uf3,2 is Alisa's best floor break option midscreen.
  46.
  47.
  48.
  49. In conclusion, b4,4 is only the best wall carry option when:
  50. - Carrying to a breakable balcony before using your screw
  51. - Carrying to a wall in Forgotten Realm after using your floor break
  52. - When it's the only carry that will reach the wall
  53.
  54. And that's it. Alisa has more versatility than she's ever had now, so it's extremely difficult to think up an optimally damaging juggle in every given situation on the fly, but you can practice the most common scenarios. b4,4 is good for consistency and for range, but it's barely ever your best option.
