  1. [12:39] Eury briefly glares in the Champion's direction before instead turning towards the stranger by the table. She walks up and takes a seat, completely ignoring Ro's existence all together.
  2.
  3. It was a statement.
  4.
  5. "Hi! I don't think I've seen you around Myllenoris before. Have I just been unlucky or are you new around here?" she asked, brightly smiling. Her overall mannerisms were, to those who were used to her, overly feminine and voice lighter than usual. Another statement, to prove that she is nothing akin to a boyish-girl or anything of the sort.
  6. (Eurydice Hargrave)
  7. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8.
  9. [12:47] "Oh?!"
  10.
  11. That one assertion hit Armand in a particularly sore spot - metaphysical, as it was restricted to the domain of his hurt feelers, but woeful enough to have the young lad grip a half-clenched fist at his chest.
  12.
  13. Was he that unremarkable? This was not his first transit across Myllenoris.
  14.
  15. "Ouchie!"
  16.
  17. In Eurydice's defense, however, he had not witnessed her ever either - but reason and logic had no sway over Armand's affluence in dramatics.
  18.
  19. "I am stricken! Never would I have thought I would be disgraced with anonimity...! But!"
  20.
  21. The youth leans forward, offering Eurydice a hand to shake.
  22.
  23. "I am Armand Emilien Leaden Bram, tinkerer and inventor extraordinaire!"
  24. (Armand)
  25. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  26.
  27. [12:54] Was he stupid, to think that she would fall for such? She wasn't a child! Eurydice, too, could play that game as well.
  28.
  29. "You do that, I'll just hunt him on my own then! Have fun explaining that to Amy~!" she shouted in the Champion's direction before turning back to the blonde, giving him her full attention.
  30.
  31. "Eurydice Grimmore-Hargrave, a Greycloak and- ..." That was really all she was, at least as far as formalities were concerned. The blonde's invitation was accepted, being delivered a firm shake by the Hargrave girl.
  32.
  33. "It is most likely my fault-- I am not the most observant of people. Inventor, eh? Have you invented anything notable, perhaps anything I may have heard about~?"
  34.
  35. Eurydice's tone could only be described as flirtatious; A demeanour employed in response to her mentor's crude description of her. Boyish-girl? What an insult!
  36. (Eurydice Hargrave)
  37. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  38.
  39. [12:55] Skoll had just arrived to hear something about a hunt, causing him to raise an eyebrow in response as he looks towards Eurydice. "A hunt?" He'll inquire. "Of whom?"
  40.
  41. He'll also take note of Eurydice mentioning to be a greycloak. Something he'll have to ask about later.
  42. (Skoll Beo)
  43. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  44.
  45. [12:56] "Alright!"
  46.
  47. With a simple shrug of his shoulders, Ro came to an understanding that they were only growing up. Soon enough, Eurydice will be a full blown woman and actually blow him away when it comes down to it.
  48.
  49. But, for now, the boyish-girl look was something that was akin to his. Back then, Ro got the title of girlish-boy, and even found that an insult.
  50.
  51. "Try not to flirt with those older than you, Amy wouldn't approve!"
  52.
  53. That was all he said as he takes a turn on his heel. Eyes focused on to the hunt to follow.
  54. (Ro)
  55. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  56.
  57. [13:00] "A clockwork heart!"
  58.
  59. He was no surgeon or physiologist, but the artifice of an mechanical heart was a knowledge he had captured in... someplace, somewhen. To this day, it remained a mystery what Armand's expertise stemmed of.
  60.
  61. "And in time, perhaps similar items will follow suit. Currently, I am projecting automatons- but their notable lack of sentience... makes them but husks."
  62.
  63. The mechanist halts amid his discourse, narrowing his gaze down on Eurydice.
  64.
  65. "I won't bother you with too many more details- my current objective is to produce a psychic singularity to sane that issue."
  66. (Armand)
  67. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  68.
  69. [13:06] {Item} You picked up Sandals. Dropped by Valencia..
  70. [13:06] {Item} You drop Sandals.
  71. [13:07] "I am not--" Eurydice objects, but before having the chance to answer Rolim had already left without her.
  72.
  73. Huh, not quite how she expected that to go. Now that it was already did and done, there was no reason not to properly indulge in the conversation with Armand.
  74.
  75. She turned back and raised her brows in surprise, "A clockwork heart?" More of a rhetoric question than a honest one, but a more in-depth explanation would not hurt.
  76.
  77. Eurydice gazed upwards in thought for but a moment before returning her eyes down onto the man, retaining the questioning expression.
  78.
  79. A golem of sorts, then? To her, the answer to his woes seemed like a simple one.
  80.
  81. "Why would you go to such lengths to produce one? I am not an expert on those sorts of things, but dabbling in Life itself can be dangerous. However--" A single finger protruded, the Hargrave held her hand forth in a somewhatdramatic fashion.
  82.
  83. "Capturing an already existing one, wouldn't that be easier?"
  84. (Eurydice Hargrave)
  85. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  86.
  87. [13:07] {Item} You drop Newbie Boots.
  88. [13:09] Noticing that his question was mostly ignored, Skoll decides it may be best to just take his leave elsewhere for now.
  89. (Skoll Beo)
  90. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  91.
  92. [13:12] "Perhaps! I do not enjoy the term... golem, though. Automatons are born from ingenuity and stirred into activity by nothing but... protocols! A maneically-induced programming that enacts action and reaction depending on preset circumstances!"
  93.
  94. Golems, in turn, would need to be alive, wouldn't they? And that in itself was generally considered a breach in ethics.
  95.
  96. "But you seem to have something in your mind, young lady."
  97.
  98. Not that it would be his first violation of the latter, albeit his work was more easily condoned with by the masses when morality was not a concern he had to prod into.
  99. (Armand)
  100. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  101.
  102. [13:12] {Item} You picked up Newbie Boots. Dropped by Valencia..
  103. [13:22] Ro says, "Not a damn lick of anything."
  104. [13:22] Emi Kriemhild says, "Rather dissapointing."
  105. [13:23] Emi Kriemhild asks, "Got any more of those fancy looking dresses Amy?"
  106. [13:24] Eurydice hadn't heard Skoll's question. What a shame!
  107.
  108. Her nose slightly wrinkles at the technobabble, though at least she was vaguely able to make out what the man meant; It was more than she could say about other craftsmen that she had talked to.
  109.
  110. "Why would you so desperately avoid the easy solution? The world around us is alive, and it is only a sin to manipulate its inner workings. Hm, how should I put this..."
  111.
  112. Eurydice looks around the square. Her eyes finally settle on an azure lantern, giving forth a dim glow that is barely visible during the day. She extends her hand, direction Armand's attention towards it.
  113.
  114. "These are powered by lesser spirits, wisps. They are not forced to stay there, but are offered mana crystals in a form of symbiotic relationship. Does that make sense?"
  115.
  116. She makes a brief pause, suddenly remembering the man's initial question.
  117.
  118. "What I am saying is, why couldn't you allow something to inhabit these creations of yours? It would certainly be easier and probably allow them to carry out far more advanced instructions, too."
  119. (Eurydice Hargrave)
  120. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  121.
  122. [13:24] Eurydice Hargrave says, "And I knew that, otherwise I would've followe--"
  123. [13:24] Eurydice Hargrave says, "And he's gone again."
  124. [13:24] Eurydice Hargrave says, "Spirits, I hate that man."
  125. [13:24] Hayakuen Xie says, "Wow."
  126. [13:24] Hayakuen Xie says, "I might just tell him that."
  127. [13:25] Eurydice Hargrave says, "... Please don't, he'll get sad."
  128. [13:25] Hayakuen Xie says, "I won't. I was just playing about."
  129. [13:26] "Spirits?"
  130.
  131. It was a strange, completely foreign topic to Armand. He had been to Myllenoris a few times, but other than the first glance that did convey to him this was indeed a magical place, no other hints had reached him.
  132.
  133. The spirits, Aschea and the remaining ancient lore of the city all eluded him without fail. Just what was he stepping into, here?
  134.
  135. "I am not familiar with those. Do they... bear a conscience?"
  136. (Armand)
  137. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  138.
  139. [13:30] "Of course."
  140.
  141. She was still a student and by no means an expert on the matter, but she had spent enough time in the Vale to be able to tell the man what he wished to know and more.
  142.
  143. "There exist spirits of varying degrees of power. I have yet to meet one myself, but some even preserve most if not all of their knowledge from life and are-- by all means-- just people without a corporeal body."
  144.
  145. Her hand vaguely gestured in the direction of the lantern once again. She rolled her shoulders, adding onto the conversation:
  146.
  147. "And then there are lesser ones such as those, who are fairly weak and simple-minded. But here in Myllenoris, we revere all of them the same."
  148. (Eurydice Hargrave)
  149. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  150.
  151. [13:36] "I... see!"
  152.
  153. With a prompt, steadfast motion, Armand unsheathed a notebook that was lidded open without a further second of delay. Its last scribbled pages held evidence of the inventor's last altercation with a trio of demons:
  154.
  155. A bat, deformed beyond original cognizance, a panther, nigh ethereal in its gloomy, preternatural complexion, and a wolf, thrice as feral as the common beast.
  156.
  157. This time, though, his notes regarded the spirits themselves as Eurydice progressed through her lecture. Myllenoris truly was proving it worth, at least with more consistency than the remainder of the spots he had visited.
  158.
  159. "How promising! Do they inhabit hosts? Are they... summonable?"
  160. (Armand)
  161. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  162.
  163. [13:41] Eurydice couldn't help but to smile. It felt good, in a way, to for once be the one sharing knowledge. And for someone else to consider it valuable enough to even write it down? If this did not make her feel like a Sage, nothing would.
  164.
  165. "They are summonable! I am not a Spiritmancer myself, but there are many amongst our people who are able to call to them for aid or questions. As for hosts..."
  166.
  167. It sounded like something that was plausible, but she hadn't personally heard any stories of that happening. It would take someone more experienced than her to answer that question with certainty, but that wouldn't deter the Hargrave from making an attempt.
  168.
  169. "Maybe!" she said, rolling her shoulders.
  170. (Eurydice Hargrave)
  171. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  172.
  173. [13:47] "Would you happen to know an able... spiritmancer, then? I would love to collaborate with them - unless you are in the craft, already?"
  174.
  175. Slowly, rasp by rasp, the processing of these drawings and scriptures comes to a close. He had absorbed most of what could be learned, now it was time to discover how to handle the substance of spiritdom.
  176.
  177. "I do not mean to intrude and defile your culture, however, of course! But if such a thing is attainable, it would be lovely for me to learn more."
  178. (Armand)
  179. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  180.
  181. [13:53] "I am just a student, I'm afraid. But- maybe Aerilon could help you, or maybe even my sister."
  182.
  183. Eurydice glanced over her shoulder, blinking a few times. She could have swore that she had seen Amy there just seconds prior. Nothing to do about, she probably had other things to tend to.
  184.
  185. She turned back with yet another roll of her shoulders, smiling.
  186.
  187. "Do not worry. You do not seem like someone with ill intentions for the world, and I do think that if everyone would learn about the spirits-- the world would be a far better place."
  188.
  189. After all-- be it order or chaos-- the spirits seldom upset the scales that kept the world's balance. Even if the man's automations would be used for war, it might even do the world good.
  190.
  191. Balance, how fickle of a thing it was.
  192. (Eurydice Hargrave)
  193. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  194.
  195. [13:59] Good, fortunately, is all a matter of subjectivity, but so far, the young Armand himself seemed inoffensive enough, exhaling honesty and sincerity! His alma mater up until then, after all, had been the world, and it offered only the harshest lessons.
  196.
  197. But these, too, were the most productive.
  198.
  199. "Aerilon, then - I'll inquire about, lest you acquaint us first. And who just... is your sister?"
  200.
  201. Whatever plans he had been projecting, though, were a completely unrenowned subject, however much cordial he was.
  202. (Armand)
  203. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  204.
  205. [14:00] Eurydice Hargrave says, "Amalia Ghede, or well, Amy."
  206. [14:00] Eurydice Hargrave exclaims, "Has a pair of antlers and dresses in green-- she's hard to miss!"
  207. [14:01] Eurydice Hargrave exclaims, "It was a pleasure talking, but I've got something to attend. Sorry!"
  208. [14:01] Armand says, "Amalia... Ghede. Antlers - dresses in green."
  209. [14:01] Armand says, "Very well - and oh! Of course! It is of no consequence."
  210. [14:02] Eurydice Hargrave exclaims, "I'll look forward to seeing you in Myllenoris more often!"
