We were stranded in the middle of no where. We hadn't expected to get lost so easily.

The night? Cold.

The darkness? Overwhelming.

The fear? Absolute.

My knife, my jacket, and my rapidly dying flashlight wouldn't keep me alive much longer. I required protection from the abrasive winter air. I needed more layers, desperately. Luckily, I had some with me.

I just wish my newly acquired clothing didn't fill my nostrils with a putrid, metallic stench for the rest of the night.
