  2. The Wing Kong Exchange. One of the oldest Chinese businesses in the city, if not THE oldest. A warehouse and import/export operation serving the border region. Also? Home to the Wing Kong triad, and other, supposedly unnatural affairs. Rumors of triad business and chinese black magic swirled about this place like some dark Wudang mountain.
  3.
  4. But more germane to now? They had a vacancy for a PA! The Benevolent Ancestor for the Wing Kong - few new his name or face, just that he existed in the shadows - needed someone to help maintain his affairs. This - this was how Misty ended up here in the office, shown to the space by some chinese tough, and then left alone in a darkened room.
  5. Wing Kong Exchange - Office(#2753R)
  6.
  7. A modestly appointed office. The furnishings are sparse and spartan in style, although anyone in the know would be able to detect the hand of a practitioner in Feng Shui in the arrangement and placement of every single thing in the room. A small conference table with chairs. A large desk. Lamps. There's even a cot, tucked away in the corner. On the desk is a monitor connected to the CCTV camera that's positioned above the door from the street into the warehouse. Behind the desk? A bookshelf, laden with various books and objets d'art.

  11.
  12. Oblivion holds a /little/ less sway here, as if whomever spends a great deal of time in the space provides a sort of bulwark effect against the suffocating forces of the Great Big Nothing.

  17. Warehouse <Wa>
  18.
  19. And there Misty sits, at one of the chairs she was shown to, her purse settled upon her lap and legs crossed at the ankles as she looks curiously around the room and it's decorations, or, as much as she can of the darkened room.
  20.
  21. Danny emerges from ... well, from somewhere near the opposite corner of the room! "Thank you for making the time to come and see ua," he offers as he steps towards the desk and turns on a small lamp. Better than before, but still dimly lit. "I'm Danny. Danny Dragon." A pause as he regards Misty. "Tea?"
  22.
  23. Misty rises up from her seat as Danny appears, bowing slightly, "Hello Mr. Dragon, I'm Misty Masuko, a pleasure to meet you." She says, nodding her head, "Tea would be lovely, yes."
  24.
  25. Danny offers Misty a subdued smile, then nods and makes his way over to a table, rather than the desk, waving her over. "Come. Sit. Relax and be welcome as my guest." He then pours our heated water into two cups, handing one to the woman, "Purple Yin tea. From Yunnan province. Good to help process the yin." The brew inside the small white cup? Is a muddy purple color.
  26.
  27. "Thank you Mr. Dragon." Misty says as she moves to sit where he gestures, settling herself back down, "The tea smells lovely." She says, accepting the cup and setting it infront of her to cool a bit before drinking from it.
  28.
  29. Danny smiles, the expression faint but genuine, as he watches her wait for the tea to cool. "Its best imbibed after its cooled." Then he settles into his own seat on the diagonal from her rather than directly across. "So. Tell me about yourself, and then tell me what you've heard about this place."
  30.
  31. "Well, I'm from Seattle, I'm twenty two years old and I'm newly arrived in the city. I enjoy practicing Origami and Calligraphy, and I can be rather well behaved and a fair hand at interacting with people and getting what I want." Misty says, hmmning softly, "I also have quite the network of people I know, which is quite helpful when I have to get things done, you know? They've told me a fair bit about this place as well, for example they tell me that there are deep triad connections here at the exchange, and influence all across Chinatown. More curiously I hear rumors of some sort of cult activity, as well as talk of a dragon, though I suppose that refers something to you overall." She says with a little smile.
  32.
  33. Danny watches Misty, his unnaturally silver colored eyes unblinking, as she shares what she knows with him. Then he reaches for his cup of tea, the muddy brew now having cooled, and he takes a slurp of the astringent beverage. Setting the cup down, he offers a nod. "Mostly accurate. Except for the dragon part. But we'll get to that if things proceed further," he offers with a subdued smile, then he looks at the wall, upon which is a hung a map of chinatown and the greater Prospect region. "Still, you're very perceptive and have good sources. All of which is very promising."
  34.
  35. "Mmn, curious." Misty says at that, she'll reach for her cup of tea as well now which she brings to her painted lips and takes a sip from, her gaze drifting towards the wall and the map upon it before she turns her attention back over to Danny himself, "Anything else you'd like to know about me, Mr. Dragon?"
  36.
  37. "Much of my work, it takes place in the evening, and at night." Danny watches Misty over the rim of his cup before he slurps up another swallow of the purple tea. "Would that pose a challenge for you? There would be both formal, and informal engagements."
  38.
  39. "The time is not a problem no, I quite like the nights." Misty says with a toothy little smile, "And I can do formal and informal, though I admit I haven't worked as much with the street elements so much, but I can learn." She says with a shrug of her shoulders.
  40.
  41. Danny nods. "This position, is one in which I would place my trust - trust of your judgment, trust of your discretion." A pause as he knocks back the last of the now completely cooled tea, then he slams the small cup upside down on the table. A moment's pause, and he lifts it up, leaving the tea leaves behind. "My trust and confidence, they are precious things." He then peers down at the tea leaves quietly.
  42.
  43. "Oh of course, discretion is an important part of this line of work after all, I understand that completely, Mr. Dragon." Misty says with a bow of her head, "I have a couple of questions myself. Could you give examples of some of the things you might ask me to do on your behalf or for you?" she casts a curious eye towards the tea leaves but otherwise doesn't comment on them.
  44.
  45. Danny's eyes narrow as he "reads" the tea leaves left behind on the table. "Hnnh," comes the faint noise that slips past his lips before he rises from the table with a smile, less faint than before. "You're hired, should you wish to join me and my ... organization." he turns to walk towards the map of the ethnic enclave and the larger city. "You may find it hard to believe now, but - I tend to not make an impression when I go places. Unless I /mean/ to, anyway, but. My impression fades. I need someone like you to help make an impression /for/ me. To keep track of things so they don't vanish into the mists of memory - unless I say they should." He looks over a shoulder. "Do you know what a maoshan is, Misty?"
  46.
  47. "I'm familiar with the term, Taoists who traffic in the Yin realms, more or less, yes?" Misty asks, "I admit, most of my knowledge is more towards the Yang, when it comes to spiritual matters." She hmmns softly, taking another drink from the tea, "So, that seems rather broad, but descriptive I suppose." She purses her lips slightly.
  48.
  49. Danny nods. "Exactly. I am lord of the yin realm - the maoshan supreme of this part of the middle kingdom." A pause as he turns to regard Misty squarely now. "But I need someone attuned to and aligned with the yang, to complement me in my mortal affairs. Someone curious enough to push past things like fear of the unknown, fear of the dark."
  50.
  51. "Well, it sounds like I'm a good fit for you there." Misty says with a little grin towards her, "So, I suppose let's talk about job benefits and pay as well." She says, "What do you offer me working for you, in that?"
  52.
  53. Danny laughs and makes his way back over to take his seat again. "You won't want for mortal resources - money, materiel, influence. I have all that. Its the immortal benefits that make working with me and my organization ... worthwhile."
  54.
  55. "I see." Misty muses then shrugs her shoulders, "I see no real reason not to turn down such a generous offer, though I'd recommend a trial period to make sure that we see eye to eye on things and there's no fundamental problems between how the two of us see the world."
  56.
  57. Danny offers a small nod in agreement. "That seems prudent," he says. "I think you'll find, after spending some time with me, and taking part in my affairs and adventures, that there won't be." His eyes return to the spilled tea leaves. "But I'll consult the yarrow stalks as well. Sometimes, the leaves, they can be overly generous in their assessment."
  58.
  59. "Oh, I'm sure I shall, and I doubt the leaves are wrong, but this way we'll be certain, hmn?" Misty says with a bright smile, "So, tell me some specifics now. Do you have a dress code you expect me to maintain, is there anything you'd rather I not do or be associated with to keep up the image you're cultivating. What day to day tasks do you have for me, and do you have any specific tasks you need me to handle for you in the short term?"
  60.
  61. "I favor black. Purple - the dark shade, not the bright one. Accents of silver, like the moon. If you need jade, I have it, in all shades." Danny looks Misty over, "The razor thin line between seductive and aloof." He makes his way over, reaching out to hint at cupping her chin with his deft fingers, "You have a natural beauty. Keep it that way," he murmurs,
  62.
  63. Misty lifts her chin slightly at the touch, "I can do that yes." she says, "If you have any specific outfits for me let me know as well, though I can follow those guidelines overall." She says, "And the other questions?"
  64.
  65. "I need a calendar created and maintained. Make sure events don't drop off. I represent our community at various functions facing the external world beyond our borders. I'm trying to bring Chinese Opera to the masses in Prospect. We need a venue and such. That's an immediate project that could use some help."
  66.
  67. "I also need to renews relationships across the border in barrio chino. We need to make an appointment to visit the Crimson Lotus," Danny muses. "See about the recent changes there."
  68.
  69. Misty nods her head slightly, "I can start looking into a venue for the Opera performance.. do you have any guidelines about the venue that I should be aware of before I start contacting business owners? And should I mention I'm doing it on behalf of the business here? Or you personally." She says, hmmning softly, "Do you have a contact for the Crimson Lotus? Otherwise I'll try to dig one up as well."
  70.
  71. "On behalf of the Wing Kong Benevolent Association. My name will vanish from people's memory, documents, that sort if thing. A side effect of my status as maoshan supreme. Better to use yours as my representative, and the organization." Danny pauses, "I will find a contact on the umbral winds of yang or yin, and pass it along. The Lotus, it is a place of yang. It will be good to have you accompany me."
  72.
  73. "Alright." Misty says with a soft hmmn and a thoughtful look, "Okay, well, this is something I can manage then. I'll start working on the Opera then for now, and start looking into the Crimson Lotus myself, I've heard murmurs of it already, so it's a place I wanted to visit anyway."
  74.
  75. Danny nods, then steps back and offers the woman a respectful bow. "The stars smiles upon us this evening, Misty," he offers. "You will find that I am fiercely loyal to my allies, and a very generous benefactor."
  76.
  77. "Now, this may be a bit of an odd question." Misty says with a little hmmn, "I'm looking to build my rolodex of individuals around the city when I need people to help me out, or do things for me. One of the best tools I find are women of loose morals to ply the thirsty gentlemen about, you wouldn't happen to have any numbers you could forward me, do you?"
  78.
  79. Danny nods, "I'll send you a raven spirit with the names and how to reach them, yes." Because of course why NOT send a raven spirit when a text or email would do?!
  80.
  81. Misty seems rather nonplussed by that then nods her head, "Alright then." She says, "Anything else for me then, Mr. Dragon?" she asks, "Or should I go see about getting to work on some of this stuff? I assume you don't mind me taking side jobs as well, do you?"
