  3. Q: How do you feel about "Bishoujo Muzai Pirates" being the fastest song in VTuber history to reach 10M views?
  4. A: The previous song, "Maribako", caught a lot of people's attention, which I think has had a huge effect this time as well. I've put a lot of work and thought into making sure more people watch this time and I'm glad it all worked out!
  5.
  6. Q: What were you doing when the counter hit 10M views?
  7. A: I just happened to be outside, so I stood there and watched over it, repeatedly refreshing the counter. (lol)
  8.
  9. Q: You've gotten a lot of high praise in YouTube comments and from your fans. Why do you think "Bishoujo Muzai Pirates" became such a beloved song?
  10. A: I think it's all thanks to the amazing animation and song composition from all the creators, the catchy dance Wata came up with, and all the Ichimi who listened to my songs - that's how the song reached even people who have never heard of me.
  11.
  12. Q: You've said you put a lot of work and thought into making sure more and more people see your song. Could you describe some specific points you've paid attention to?
  13. A: A lot of people did the Maribako dance when it was released, so this time I made sure to prepare - I got Wata-chan to release her choreography video on the same day, and released the MMD motion data from my side.
  14.
  15. Q: Given how many people you create your content for, is there anything you're keeping in mind especially while doing so?
  16. A: I make sure to look at things from the viewer's perspective. What would I feel watching this content when I was a regular viewer myself... I make mistakes pretty often, so each time, I update my internal data and reflect on it. (lol)
  17.
  18. Q: There's an anecdote going around that management was pretty upset with you even with "Maribako" being a massive hit.
  19. A: To be honest, if they didn't get mad at me, the next song would've taken the sexy route as well. I thought, and do think, that this is all there is to me, in the end. But that route became a no-go, so this was instead an opportunity for me to look for and find other sides to myself.

  21. Q: Whenever you release a work that has a huge impact, the expectations from your fans towards your next work and your activities go up accordingly. Do you find yourself under pressure from these expectations? Are there any new worries, concerns?
  22. A: Of course, it's difficult to exceed expectations every single time. But even if I fail or miss, this too is valuable experience I can learn from for next time!
  23.
  24. Q: "Bishoujo Muzai Pirates" was created as a "Marine-style love song" - was there anything you specifically requested from Nanahoshi Orchestra for the lyrics or composition?
  25. A: I've asked them earnestly for a love song, but since it's a love song by me, I asked them to make sure to include things like how I'm annoying or my old age complex. I sent them a bunch of clips of annoying Marine's views on love, to make sure they convey those views.
  26.
  27. Q: The lyrical subject somehow leaves a strong impression of being a yandere. Are there any points in the lyrics you empathize with in particular, like the attitude the subject takes towards the person they love or such?
  28. A: The way she loses confidence, gets depressed, gets aggressive, then gets out of the depressive episode and innocently repeats "love you love you", that's a lot like me... I think.
  29.
  30. Q: If you've got any behind-the-scenes stories or anything that left a strong impression during recording and production, feel free to share!
  31. A: I made the recording staff laugh from how intensely I performed the "That's CAPTAIN Marine to you!" line (lol)
  32.
  33. Q: Your name appears in the MV credits for key frame animation. Please share your impressions on getting to be part of the creator staff for the MV production.
  34. A: I couldn't help but think, "my drawing quality is really low when it's mixed in with the pros' works..." I felt a newfound respect for pro animators. I'm gonna have to study more if I get this opportunity again.
  35.
  36. Q: Tell us your favorite points and scenes from the MV.
  37. A: I love all of the scenes, but to keep it to three - the chorus dance, the "doki doki shiteROUGE? mada hayai" part after the last chorus when I do a little spin, and the very first "nee, itta yo ne?" and how threatening it feels - it's really cute, I love it!
  38.
  39. Q: What is something you in your music creator activities?
  40. A: Three years ago, around when "Unison" was released, I was wondering if I should try appealing to more mainstream sensibilities. My manager at the time gave me this advice - "you should absolutely keep focusing on character songs like this one!". Since then, rather than just making music, I focused on creating the character of "Marine" and releasing this as the product.
  41.
  42. Q: Whenever you release a new song, you pick from genres you haven't really dabbled in yet. What kind of song would you like to sing next time?
  43. A: I want to release more rock songs, emotional songs and Showa-style songs, and it'd be nice to make more Western-style music as well.
  44.
  45. Q: "Bishoujo Muzai Pirates" is widely celebrated in the comments of the MV - what do your fans mean to you?
  46. A: I'm the type that would lose all motivation if there were no reactions from fans. For example, when I'm drawing, I crop out part of the drawing and post it, and when I look at the reactions, my motivation comes back! I do that a lot. It's only because I get a good reaction that I have any motivation to keep working, so I'm full of gratitude!
  47.
  48. Q: Of course, it's not like you work just to beat records and stack up numbers, but now that you're entering your 5th year, is there any particular record you're looking to beat?
  49. A: Well, since I've gotten this far, I'm aiming for 3M YouTube subscriptions and becoming the "No. 1 JP Vtuber!"
